Well, I stayed up last night and finished my power point for my photography class. Pretty darned proud of myself! I basically taught myself how to use it. Sweet program! It looks so professional. I am really happy with how it turned out.

This is my first time teaching a class EVER. I'm just a bit nervous, but I'll muddle on through regardless.

Have a happy day all!

Michelle
- am jealous of the snow day! We have yet to go sledding here. I LOVE SNOW DAYS! We usually have a pile of kids and sled, sled, sled (ski sometimes and snowboard) down our hill. Hot cocoa, rosy cheeks and fun![/I]

Glad to hear the SS number issue worked out Michelle, did you get the car? Yahoo a snow day! We got a dusting and now it's raining so everyone is driving like an idiot. I'm glad to have the day off to spend at home. Morgan is safely at school.

Baby Ryan is coming over this morning so his mama can go shopping by herself. Can't wait to see him, maybe we'll have a photo shoot.

So, today...

Snuggle with Baby Ryan :lovestruc
Help Morgan finish her Switzerland project
Go to wake - DH's aunt passed away on Monday from cancer, she was only 68 :(

Hope everyone has a great day!

Mornin!

Well, I had my 2nd glass class yesterday, and I've decided I'm not going to set up the studio for glass bead making. It's something I always wanted to try, and I can say I did it now, but I'm thinking it's not all that fun for me. I think I'm sticking with stained glass. 1 more class next week, then done...

Oh, and why with all the toys this puppy has, does she like my shoes the best? :headache: Need to find a shoe repair...

My list for today:

Cheryl,
The counselors sent us a 3 page spreadsheets of scholarship leads... so this weekend she will hit the ground running. She still has 3 for 4-H to complete... hit up fastweb.com..
I noticed in the scholarship she will submit tonight that they have several additional links that we are going to be looking at.. I'll send them on.

Van is purchased :goodvibes By the looks of it too, we will be using it to drive to disney. Airfare is not in our favor this trip so far?? I can't justify spending over $2000 when we can drive for a lot less (6 of us this trip with my mom coming too)?? It would be about a 16-17 hour drive :scared1: Anyone else accomplish this drive before? We are thinking of driving Thursday night until about 12 or 1. Then finish the drive the next day arriving at WDW late afternoon.

Morning all it's a snow day here I said it and I wont go to the naughty mat!!! we haven't had ANY this year. I soooooo needed a day off this week. Last nights meeting I lost my cool with one of the trustees ( I"m not proud of it but....) I'm sick of being accused of stealing and fruad when the woman that he supports still has Library property and she is no longer employed. I really need to find a coping mechanizem with this jerk. It makes me and the friends look bad and makes Tom's job as chair much harder.

I have a list a mile long of hotspot things that need hitting today, we'll see how much I can actually get done.

Michelle we've done the drive for us it would be 24 hours but we broke it into 3 days (had the time) and stopped and saw things we wanted to see. We need to do Mississippi to visit tom's moms family and I REFUSE to spend that money on airfare but the thought of being couped up with at almost 14 and 11 year old makes me want to drink. I'm to cheap to even think abt using my Sequoia when gas for the CRV would be half but so would the space. I wish I done it when they were smaller they traveled way better then.

We have drove on both of our trips (GPS says 18 to 19 without stops)
if you can stick to the interstates the hit the "rest stops" for bathroom breaks that will save you from having to buy something everytime you stop for bathroom breaks (usually the State Lines have a wonderful sign that welcomes you so you can get some "travel" pics there & usually free coffee)

drive until you are tired but not so tired that you could wreck, switch drivers very so often - DH usually lets me drive on the interstates but if it is alot of turns in a certain city then he wants behind the wheel.

map out your route ahead of time & have a printed copy in the car that way if the GPS goes nuts then you have a back up.

DVD players w/ head phones for each kid if possible & other quiet games maybe some pencil type games (word search, coloring, cross words)

Good Morning!

thank you all for your thoughts and hugs today :goodvibes

stay safe in the snow everyone!

Jennifer sorry to hear about your DH's aunt

Nan and Cheryl - good luck with all the scholarship paperwork!

today I'm going to work on my sketch swap and just hang out.

dinner - think we will order in from our favorite italian place and spend a quiet night.

OMG! Michelle.. I wrote you a book... the boards ate it..
I will write it in word and copy it over so we won't lose it next time.. give me about 10 mins!!!!
I'll attach links too.

We do the drive in 2 days... we love it!!!!

The foot scrub is not a recipe I know, another leader recommended it. I think it's Epsom salt and olive oil and you put some peppermint extract in it so you don't smell like olive oil :) I'll get more details tonight.

The rose water lotion is easy. Take one cup of clean packed rose petals (no stems or leaves), add two cups of boiling water, and let it sit for at least 10 hours. Strain the water off the roses. Put 1 tablespoon of glycerin (found it at CVS) in a small container (we are using baby food jars), add 1 1/2 tablespoons of lime juice while stirring, add 2 tablespoons of rose water slowly, stirring to make sure all the ingredients blend. We are doubling the amount of glycerin and rose water, but I don't know if we'll add the lime juice. It's so dry here, I don't know if it should be so astringent.

With my organization projects, I found a bazillion little Prima flower jars. If this goes well, we may make these for the aunties for Christmas.

Michelle, I've done the drive a few times. For us it's about 24 hours. We've never done it as a family, but I don't think it's something we'd undertake. We're rescheduling the cruise because of airfare prices. It would be almost $3000 for the three of us to fly roundtrip in April. No way.

Ok, trying this again Michelle!!!

We have driven and we have flown with the 3 kids, our drive time is about the same as yours… We flew in 2010 because we found an awesome price…and it was great.. we only rent a car for 3 days to go see Grandma in Ft. Myers and spend time on Captiva/Sanibel… Then we were Disney bound!!!!
When we drive we love it.. Great family times have been had… We are all looking forward to our upcoming trip...

My DD does a lot of research and makes an activity folder for each of them… Anyway, she prints word searches, crosswords, word scrambles and coloring pages for Disney.
I grabbed her computer and found these in her favorites: must be for our drive this year:
http://www.wordsearches4kids.com/word-searches-for-kids/mickey-wordsearchesforkids/
(on the right side you can see a list of other puzzles)
This is a cool site she had marked too… I want to look at it more:
http://schoolofdisney.com/index.htm

Here is a coloring page she marked:
http://www.educationalcoloringpages.com/eeyore.html#
I love this site:
http://www.themouseforless.com/downloads.shtml

One activity she has them do is while in the car they can not look when they color the page… they have to turn it in to us at a rest stop and we award the best page with a treat from the goodie bag… We always make sure that all 3 get something…

We also travel with a portable DVD for the kids to watch movies…
We also do the ABC game of billboards… that is a blast…
We also print a US map and the kids color it when they see a license plate from that state. We also have a page 1/3rd each with the list of state names on it and we keep a tally mark for each state license plate we see. The one with the most marks gets a special something while we are on vacation.. they get the choice of a ride, a meal or something.
I also am planning on making a CD of our favorite tunes along with a bunch of other CDs. The kids all have their Ipods too!!!

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibesThanks!! Nan:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Great info!! I appreciate it. We do have two separate DVD players in our new (to us) van. DDs both have ipod touches and DS has a nintendo DS that he loves. We are hoping to at least make it to the Macon, GA area Thursday night (leaving here by 3 pm) so we miss Altanta traffic Friday when we finish the drive. On the way back, we plan to do it all in one day so we can make it home with one day before starting back to school/work but will stop if we have to?? : )

Thanks everyone!!! With your ideas and technology, I think we will survive without drinking :rotfl:

The boards ate my van update post last night too! Must be hungry!!

I think Macon is about where we stop usually... just above the GA/FL state line... :)
We definitely try to miss Atlanta traffic...

I know on our way home we are headed to Knoxville to stay over night and visit with family there... We have to finalize those plans.. DH said we could stay for the day and leave later that night or even the following day!!! That way we get some quality time with family!!! Especially because HS conditioning will be off that week because of the 4th of July holiday week is moratorium!!!

Well, I didn't get much done on my list today. But that's okay. Taught my first ever class. I really enjoyed it and I think that the kids got a lot out of it. They seemed pretty excited and asked some great questions.

My whole day was kind of thrown off, but that's okay. There's always tomorrow!

As a friend once told me, "there's always something in your in box", so quit worrying about not getting everything done!

Have a great night all. I AM going to get to bed a a decent hour tonight!
