Over the years I have noticed fewer and fewer J Beetles in my yard. I had no idea why I was so lucky. I've always gardened organically, so I figured there must be some sort of natural control going on. I finally figured it out.

Wasps!
They eat the beetles!
There has always been wasps around the garden. We have only destroyed the nests on the house. Where the rest of them nest, I have no clue. Our yard is full of kids at all times and no one has ever been stung. They seem more interested in the plants. I think I could grow to love these guys.

Now that would explain why we haven't seen so many of them this year either! Good to know!
