Background Story: My DH and I recently booked a last-minute trip to WDW for December 13-18 and as a result, we are having a heck of a time making ADR's. :sad2:

 So I thought? Why not make it a chalenge? The COUNTER SERVICE challenge! :thumbsup2

We are staying 5 nights at AS-Sports and attending MVMCP :santa: as well as the Candlelight Processional. We have a few ADR's made but I am considering cancelling them as long as I feel content and can accept the fact that we will be eating fast food the entire trip. (I am DEFINITELY NOT the CS type. I love my TS meals!)

BUT-I need YOUR help! Please tell me what your favorite CS is! I am willing to travel to different resorts-if it means that I can have a great meal! :-) (Especially the resorts that can be reached by monorail from MK.)

Thanks! :worship:

I plan on doing a Dining Review of our experience!

here is a thread with people recommending their fave counter service places in the parks.

Another CS thread

There are a few TS places that don't take ADRs that you can consider. ESPN Club and Beaches & Cream at the Boardwalk. Plus there are places in DTD that are not part of the dining plan and don't take ADRs like House of Blues. I am sure there are others on the West End that dont take ADRs but HoB is the only one I am sure of.

Some CS places I really love:
The Mara at AKL
Capt.Cook's at the Poly
Sunshine Seasons at Epcot

Hmm let's see....

Flame Tree BBQ AK
Sunshine Seasons EPCOT
Starring Rolls DHS
Pecos Bill MK
Backlot Express DHS
Boulangerie Patisserie EPCOT
Earl of Sandwich DTD
Wolfgang Puck Express DTD Marketplace

I will be staying at AKL and can't wait to try Mara.

I know that at Port Orleans French Quarter they have Beignets that are just to die for, and really good fried chicken, and at Riverside they have a pick your own pasta/combinations and the chefs cook it up. :goodvibes

Our favorites are

Anything from WPE in DTD
Hawaiian Pork sandwich from Capt Cooks at the Poly
Chicken or veggie lo mein from Capt Cooks at the Poly
Tuna sandwich from CHH in MK
Chicken BLT salad from CHH in MK
Chicken caesar from Cosmic Rays in MK
Taco salad from POFQ
Mufaletta with pasta salad from POFQ
Veggie Cuban from Sunshine Seasons in Epcot
Chicken shwarma platter from Tangierine Cafe in Epcot
Brat and kraut from Germany in Epcot
Shrimp fried rice and egg rolls from Lotus Blossom Cafe in Epcot
Corn dog nuggets & fries from Caseys in MK
Anything from Flame Tree BBQ in AK

Sunshine Seasons is my very favorite. I love the seared tuna salad, the roasted beet and goat cheese salad, the California roll.. my DH loves the turkey/ham sandwich.

Columbia Harbour House - Lighthouse Sandwich (can't wait to get this again!), Anchors Aweigh (tuna), Fried fish and chips, the chowder is good.

Kona Sushi Bar - I had the tempura shrimp roll and it was good but it has a Polynesian spin so it's a little sweet. Next time I would ask for no mango and add avocado. The menu also include a jumbo lump crab cake that sounds good.

I want to see some different resorts I haven't seen yet so I want to try Roaring Fork at Wildnerness Lodge and Mara at AKL, although I've been to Boma. But you can't go wrong visiting there!
