Hey all, My mom swears that years ago the Crystal Palace was sponsored by Oscar Myer and there was a Midget or a Little Person that was the mascot dressed like Oscar Meyer. Anyone have any photo proof? I would love to see it!

I don't remember that and have never heard about that. But, it sure sounds interesting.

I've eaten there about 15 times in a 15 year period. I can't remember it being a Oscar Meyer Crystal Palce.

What would be the reason to have a dwarf out front anyways. It also could of been a CM that just happened to be a little person.

That must be the case. When we were at the Crystal palace last May, we saw a CM (who looked like he was in charge of the characters) who happened to be a little person at the Crystal Palace. We also saw him a few days later at Chef Mickey.

I don't know about a link between Oscar Mayer and the Crystal Palace but I do know that Oscar Mayer used to have a little person as their mascot that they called Little Oscar. This was more in the 50's & 60's so it might have still been around in the early 70's. Was your mom ever at Disneyland? I think it might have been out there instead of WDW.

Actually, if my middle-aged memory serves me, the Town Square Restaurant (Tony's now) was sponsored by Oscar Meyer, and that "Little Oscar" was there on occasion, a little person.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?

Thanks for the input. Mom swears that this little person was dressed as Oscar Meyer on purpose. We have an old disney souvenier book that says the Crystal Palace was sponsored by Oscar Meyer. I just have to figure out what "safe place" I put that book. It is from the same time frame when boats went up and down the waterways in the Magic Kingdom. It can't be any earlier than 1974. I think it's later than that. My mom has only been to Disneyland once and that was in 2000. I just wish she took a picture of this craziness.

OMG! It is true! I was there with my family in the 70's, when I was around 12. My dad took a picture of my sister and I with a "little person", and I believe it was associated with Oscar Meyer! I will have to find that photo, though I'm not sure I would be able to scan it for you. I'm a little challenged in that area!:D

I found the picture! It is from 1974, and the little guy has an Oscar Meyer hat on! I seem to remember it was from the Crystal Palace. If you could tell me how to scan it, and where to send it to, I'd give it a try!

I also remember fondly going there with my grandparents in the 70's and it was definitly sponsored by Oscar Meyer AND there was a little person dressed in his official Oscar Meyer attire. We used to drive to Florida twice a year from NJ and at that time the Crystal Palace was one on the most fun to eat at. I hope you can scan that photo, cant wait to see it.

Hoping everyone has a "magical" day!

I saw Little Oscar in my home town back in the 50's. He was driving the Weinermobile. But I didn't get to WDW until 1997, so I never saw him there.

Hey! I am so excited that someone has found proof! I know you can scan stuff if you have a scanner or you can do it at kinko's or maybe even the library. Once you have it scanned you could post it to the board. I don't know how, but its probably in the FAQ or someone around here could tell you how to post it.

YAY!
My mom was happy to hear that she's right!
