"I highly, highly, highly recommend the fish tacos from the Cove Bar!!! I would call myself a
'fish taco snob' and really picky about what I consider a good fish taco. I was kind of
skeptical trying these since I was really disappointed about the fish tacos at Trader Sam's.
These were packed full with perfectly cooked grilled fish, a yummy sour cream based
sauce, cabbage, tomato, onion, cilantro and radishes. I also added lime which they served
on the side. Forget lobster nachos and order these!!" -JenInWonderland

Oh my goodness! Those look incredible! These will be a definite must-try on my next visit. Thanks for the pic and info.!

Oh My!! We didn't get the the Cove bar when my Mom and I went last month, but I am making my husband go next week! Oh goodness, the tacos and nachos look amazing!

No! You don't want to go there! The lobster nachos are terrible--we were barely able to eat every single chip and bite of lobster. And whatever you do, DON'T order the off-Menu drink called a Melrose Place, because you'll slurp it down in about two seconds and want another one.

(Can you tell I'm trying to keep people away so there's more room for me?)

I was wondering if you all could give me some info on the Cove Bar.

* Is it an appropriate place for the kids?
* Are the nachos awesome? How is the food?
* Would you recommend it?

Thanks for your help!

* Yes, I took my DS when he was 2 and had no problems. He's a good kid in restaurants. He's watched Cali screamin' take off from the view we had, loved it. *OMG YES! It's really hard for someone to mess up Nachos.
* Yes, it's a hidden jewel!

We love to head into the Cove Bar with the kids for a quick drink and a light snack. We got the nachos and sliders twice and would get them again. It is one of our favorite secret spots to people watch and enjoy an afternoon break.

We had the opportunity to eat here last weekend. We ordered the lobster nachos and BBQ chicken pizza and both were very good. Service was adequate and I found it strange that they didn't open until 12:30 on Saturday. Not sure if there is a law around the alcohol but with a hot sunny day, I would have thought they would take advantage of those who were "thirsty".

Those tacos and nachos look amazing!!!! I somehow never realized that you could take kids to the Cove and Trader Sam's, so I've always avoided them until now. But I will be making both a priority for our trip in October! Thanks for sharing this secret spot guys! And feel free to join my family if it's too crowded and we've taken your table ;)

You have to get a table with kids (they can't, of course, sit AT the actual bar) but we've been lucky with that! You may have to wait a bit at peak times.

Or, if you have more than 2 people, order both and share! I can't wait to try these in 9 days!! :cool1: hubby and I could not even finish the plate of lobster nachos. Dear daughter and grandson will be with us this time so we should be able to finish both! :)
and yes, I would also like to know more about the Melrose...what kind of drink is it?

Beautiful view - Cove Bar is going on my DL restaurant spreadsheet with recommendations for Fish Tacos and the Lobster Nachos!

We tried to go to The Cove Bar this past Sunday. When I walked up there was a CM at the podium and it was PACKED. I asked if they had a wait list going? No - its first come, first served and there are several large groups in front of you. So I asked if just 1 small table becomes available am I allowed to take it? No - it will be held for the large groups in front of you. So I again asked - so is there a list to put my name on? No. I was just kind of confused and there were 2 larger groups (maybe 8-10 people each) hanging out waiting. If one table became open - I didn't want to take it and upset anybody - but it was hard to figure out my place on this list that didn't actually exist :confused3

We ended up moving on so we didn't miss the neon lights coming on in Cars Land - and now those Lobster Nachos are STILL on my to-do list.

The CM at the podium is for Ariel's Grotto. I've never seen anyone doing that for Cove Bar. There's no list. You walk in, scope it out and pounce when a table opens up. We've never actually had to do that, but we've just been lucky. Someone always gets up right as I walk in.

There IS a CM there for the Cove Bar - and whoever it was when we were there was wonderful. They don't take reservations, no, but you can wait and first come first serve you get your table. We had a great experience there with a very kind CM who got us a table a few minutes after they had stopped seating due to WOC starting, because one opened up only a few minutes after - and it was a highlight of our trip.
