... our trip is paid for and our restaurants booked - which means that the countdown is on! I love this point, it feels very real!

We've also had a bit of a surprise from DLP, as you may or may not know from my previous posts, Rosebug has had some *tummy* issues, which are still not resolved, she is still under consultant care (every 4 weeks now to ensure she is not compacted again) and the medication she is on makes accidents frequent, she is totally unaware sometimes that she has *been* (although on the flipside this is better than the screaming in agony we had with the opposite problem). In conversation with the CM it was mentioned about rides/characters etc. and I said we probably wouldn't be able to due to DD's issues and she said she would get back to me about that. Next day I got an email from the special needs team telling me to take a medical certificate to City Hall on the day we arrive in order to pick up our easy access pass! :wizard:

I never even thought this would be possible, we were just prepared to not queue for characters and try to get as many of the rides for DD done in EMH!

I am a little concerned we may not get it, as DD has not been diagnosed with an actual illness (thank god) as they think it is a hereditary condition from me (how guilty do I feel) so I am hoping they will accept a doctors letter saying that she is on medication that causes the issues, and queueing will be a problem. Do you think that will be okay?

Also, how do they work? Can you use them for characters. We won't misuse the card though, if the queue is short enough, we will queue normally, it's just the massive queues that would be a problem!

So looking forward to our trip now!

Thank you, I may take you up on that! Rosebug is only 3 and gets really very upset about this. :flower3:

Yay!! Isn't it exciting when it starts getting close - it starts feeling REAL!! :goodvibes You must be there just before us as my ticker is just behind yours (we get there on the morning of the 19th). What meals have you booked?

AFAIK you go along to City Hall with a doctor's letter which must be recent ie. no older than 3 months. I'm afraid I can't really help with using them (I'm sure someone who can will soon be along) but please don't feel guilty about using it - it wouldn't be issued if DLP/your doctor didn't think you were entitled.

Thanks Elaine, I am a terrible guilt-feeler :lmao: I do about everything! I worry that because she looks fine, and is fine to all intents and purposes, apart from this *issue* people will think we are taking the mick! I never even imagined it would be a possibility, we still need to get a doctor's letter, which we may or may not get, but I don't think it will be a problem, considering this issue has prevented her from starting school nursery in September (because they won't clean her up if there is an accident!) and various other bits. But we will see, it will be a wonderful bonus for Rosebug if we do get it, as it means she will get to do alot more than we expect to be able to do, and take the pressure off us abit, as I worry so much about having to dash away from things!

We are there 14th-17th (arrive 13th, but staying offsite as get in very late), so just before you!

We have booked Auberge for Tuesday lunchtime, Inventions for Wednesday evening, Cafe Mickey for Thursday lunchtime and Cowboy Cookout for Friday lunchtime! Character meal overload, but the intention was to allow Rosebug to meet as many characters as possible, as we knew she couldn't queue for over an hour (up to 3 hours for the Princesses apparently! )

So very excited now...!

what medicines is she on? mines on movacol, shes in school now and it gets really embarasing, the amount of times iv had to go into school and tell them when she needs the loo they need to let her go :sad1:

I don't blame you doing so many character meals - I love my character meals and will continue having them even when I'm hobbling round Disney with my zimmer! :rotfl2:

We did our first ones in Feb, and I am hooked! They are just amazing! I am now gutted that DH wouldn't let me do Auberge when we went in 2009 with a 4 month old Rosebug. I would have loved it! :lmao:

:cheer2: I can feel your excitement! :dance3:

We have the blue badge for DS so I have no experience of using a doctor's letter but your situation sounds to me a very valid reason so I am sure both doctor and City Hall will be sympathetic.

As to how the pass works for characters, at the official meet and greets you simply go to the exit line and wait to catch the eye of the CM to show the pass to. She/he will then will then let you meet the character, perhaps after a few families in the queue. At Mickey's MAG and the Princess Pavilion there are special "disabled pass" bells to press near the exits and you will be escorted in that way by a CM. In practice there may be a short queue of other disabled pass holders here.

For the "scrums" it is a bit hit and miss. Usually if we can get to the accompanying character minder and show the pass they will call the character over to us. However, some CMs say that the pass is not valid at these unofficial meets.

DS has multiple special needs and suffered terribly in the way RoseBug describes for most of his 20 years until we discovered Movacol. It has been life transforming although we always had difficulty at school and now he has left school, at the various places he goes to through the week that he is not ill and needs sending home every time he "goes". The alternative is agony! DS's doctor has now replaced the Movacol with Laxido (a cheaper alternative) that has the same ingredients and effect.

Good luck, RoseBug with both your DD's treatment and use of the disabled pass. Have a wonderful time! :goodvibes

Forgot to add that wherever you use the disabled pass (which does not have a photo), you may be asked for identification. We use DS's AP, not sure what non-AP holders would use but something to remember.

Rosebug, school can't refuse to clean up your DD, under the Disability Act, so her medication certainly shouldn't be a reason for her being refused a nursery place. At the school where I work, we've had children with similar issues, and members of staff have always dealt with any 'accidents'.

hi huni
we use the letter, as a blue badge wudnt detail ds2s needs, but the letter explains his issues....

all that cherry said is right, except they are doing a only every hr for the princesses in the pavillion, so ud need to keep watch on which princesses come out/go in to make sure u r seein diff ones.... and yes, quite often there is a queue....

also - the character train is very very hit n miss, only once out of all the characters did a cm accept the pass, and once was my friend with the character so that helped.... most the others say the charcter will choose who they want - which is very frustrating, as u still get ppl pushing their child - so i found, if u are able to get to the front, stand there with the pass 'obvious' so at least the character will see it ;) basically, this is also the same at any unoffical meet.....

oh, n not once were we asked for id - id no idea what we wud show if we had been! :confused3

movicol is brilliant btw lol ds2 did have issues, but now seems to be better (least during the day, not toilet trained at night)

any quests - do ask!! oh, n for stitch, u get a seat round the back, so she wont b crammed in and cant get out if toilet is needed!!!

It is a great feeling to have a trip all paid for :goodvibes Great news that you will be able to get the pass and do far more than you thought :goodvibes

As the queues will be huge in August this will be really good for you all.

Fingers crossed the Doctor's note is enough. I'm sure it will be :thumbsup2.
