It really makes me wonder if the "first black" (insert official position here) is only meaningful when they are Dems. Did the Dems/Libs make a huge deal when Powell was picked? Or Rice? How did the Latinos react to Gonzalez?

Sad isn't it? The same thing goes with the first woman anything. If she's not a liberal feminist - ie, supports abortion wholeheartedly - then it means nothing to them.

You got that right. Not to bore everyone with too much detail, but DW is a trailblazer in our shared line of work. She is theologically orthodox and FWIW politically conservative. However almost all of our female colleagues are theologically (and politicaly) liberal. DW gets the cold shoulder from just about all of them because of the way she chooses to live her life. She gets tons of respect here in the "real world", but on a professional-to-professional level other women treat her as a traitor of some sort.

Tis COLD here and the mailman is a fry short of a happy meal. He had on a winter hat, winter socks, uniform shoes. Black long sleeve shirt under his short sleeve uniform AND.......

Hello to all. I'll be around for awhile; making a spreadsheet of all of the 7 for 4 WDW hotel rates. I might be booking in the next couple of days, although I still have no idea where or even when. We shall see, I suppose.

Did y'all see on TV last night, either CNN or MSNBC (can't remember which) where Obama will be having his mother-in-law live with him in the White House? Now, he could very well have a great relationship with her, I have no idea; but if she's anything like some of the mother-in-laws people in my family and many of my friends have... uh oh!

I think it's the ultimate cynical political move. He thinks if he surrounds himself with kids and old people, no one will criticize him or — God forbid — try to impeach him and throw him out of the White House if he acts like a demo–, errr, does anything bad. I predict that every time a scandal erupts, he'll trot out the MIL for a stroll in the Rose Garden. If she's got a cane? All the better. Oy, it's gonna be a loooong four years.

I'm that way. I can wear shorts as long as my arms and chest are warm. When I lived in Alaska from Sept '99 to Feb 2000, I went outside in shorts all the time. You get used to it.

I wouldn't let MY MIL live in our house and she sure as wouldn't be mving into the White House with me if I got to live there. I didn't even know she was alive. I don't remember seeing her at all during the campaign.
