Oh my God, Breezy. My laptop is RUINED from DROOL.

Ok, I know y'all may not be going out on the CB, so here it is...

I cut a head of garlic in half across the middle so all the cloves are exposed and stuff the turkey with them AND one lemon quartered AND onion too AND a full sprig of fresh rosemary and thyme. This is after I liberally salt and pepper the cavity - a must to get the proper seasoning. Also, I rub butter all over the outside of the turkey and salt and pepper that too.

Then I lay the turkey in the roaster on a bed of cut carrots, celery and more onion.

I baste every 15 to 20 minutes with a mixture of: chicken stock, 1 cup of white wine, and 1 stick of butter - that's warmed on the stove.

When the basting liquid is all gone - I baste it with it's own juices - this tends to happen towards the end of the cooking process.

Key note - the turkey is done before most people think it is. I take mine out before it reaches the optimal temp. - then I "tent" it for another 25 minutes to let the carry-over cooking bring it to full temp.

It sounds like more work than it is. Plus, If y'all do this, you'll end up with one moist and yummy turkey.

Can y'all tell I'm excited for Thanksgiving? :hyper:

:goodvibes

This OS is pretty happy. Not 100% because of a couple of pretty serious setbacks in AZ, FL and CA and hopefully Obama will do what's necessary to change things. But I'm happy. And I didn't even drink any Kool Aid!

Here here! :thumbsup2 I understand the disappointment of some about votes in CA etc.
I still expect more general jubilation from OSers. I haven't ventured out on the CB much lately, but folks report back here about how vicious it is out there. And I've seen a thing or two myself. I just wonder what gives with all the testiness right now from those who backed a winner last week.

Hi everyone! I have been crazy busy so I haven't been around too much! I hope all my conservative friends are doing well!

Welcome, CoraBubbles! This thread is what we like to call home. Just be aware that THEY lurk here just like roaches. Pull up a chair, get your beverage of choice and your puter and have a good time!!! :surfweb:

Naw, they're not like roaches. They jusy know wit and insight when they see it. :lmao:

HI everyone! I'm back and kind of loopy (what else is new? LOL) The MRI went well and although I was awake for most of it, I didn't flip out or anything.

A little tired now, but starving. Once we get the kids from school, we're going to head out to go out to eat.

As for Newt running for Pres - I really like the guy. I think he's brilliant and I love to hear him talk. The man has a mind like an encyclopedia and I would love to just sit and talk with him about American history and politics. Plus he seems like a nice guy, BUT, I'm not sure if he'll get the Repub. nom for CIC.

Glad it went well, Meghan........rest up tonight.

I feel the same way about Newt. I like him and what he says, but he comes off a little no-it-all-ish, kwim? We need someone younger, more energetic and someone who really means business. I'm not picking anyone right now. I'm in a wait and see for the next two years.......then things will become clearer.

And wasn't Newt "in charge" of the Rep.'s who got elected to Congress but then they didn't follow through with being true conservatives?

Here's a comic strip that my DH sent me today. We all need a laugh.
