Disclaimer...I am a big WDW fan!

As I get ready for my August trip, I was thinking about the reported 7-10 walk from the Fairfield Inn(and many other hotels on Harbor or the 3 onsite) to the park entrances. Now compare that to a couple of WDW resorts(Caribbean Beach and Dixie Landing) where if you are in "outer" buildings, you may have a walk of 10+ minutes within the resort not even thinking about how long it takes to get to the parks.

Sometimes it is the little things that go unappreciated.
:)

Yes, it is WONDERFUL to be able to walk from park to park..to hotel...to restaurants.....
We went to WDW last year, and while we loved the parks and the variety, the transportation (which was efficient--just time consuming!) and the distance between things was really not fun for us.
I am going to DL in August too! If you are a morning person, get to the gates 20-30 minutes before opening. You will be amazed at how much you can get done!
Have fun planning! (except you won't have to plan as much as you do for WDW)

The common belief about DLR among WDW vets is that since DLR is smaller than WDW it must be lesser. But smaller has some advantages!

Similar to your comment here, there are many hotel rooms at DLR closer to the DLR park gates than the bus drop offs at WDW are to the park gates there.

I think a WDW vet needs to experience this personally to really see how it can totally change their Disney trip. Until that point they often can't get past "DLR is smaller" and that is somehow bad. :)
