Toby: Toby smiled "yeah, it's pretty perfect here, I could spend all day at the beach." then he paused "actually I have done that before" he said with a small laugh.

River: River smiled "If I had time or friends I probably would have" she said but immediately regretted it. "I've always wanted to see New York" she said smiling and looking down.

Alex: Alex laughed and shook her head,"Smooth bub." She threw her shell in the air and caught it before twirling it in her hand.

Jack: Jack frowned at River's words but didn't ask about it in case she got upset over it. "Yeah, New York's cool but it depends on where you stay and go. There are some really good places in New York, I think you'd like to see the Empire State Building. A lot of people like seeing it," He said while shrugging. He knew a lot of people went to New York to see things like that but he concluded that it's always better than the people thought it would be.

Alex: Alex walked up to River and Jack with a smile,"Hey guys."

River: River smiled starting to feel more comfortable, she was glad he didn't ask questions about what she had said. "yeah, seeing the empire state building would be pretty neat," "hey!" she said to Alex and Toby as they walked up.

Alex: Alex grinned and sat down by Jack on the sand crossing her legs and putting her shell down. "What're we talking about? You're not scaring my friend are you Jack?"

Jack: Jack rolled his eyes and bumped his shoulder against Alex's playfully,"We were talking about where we lived until you came here. And for the record, I wasn't being scary, shortcake."

Toby: Toby sat on the other side of Alex.

Toby: Toby sat on the other side of Alex.

Jack: "See? I wasn't scary," Jack said to Alex making her roll her eyes and smile. "So what about you two? Where'd you live? Alex?" Jack asked looking at Toby then Alex slightly intrigued when Alex grinned almost with courage instead of getting angry like when he asked about her parents.

Alex: "I lived in Washington before I came here. The rainiest place in America but it was really beautiful, lots of animals and plants," Alex said happily knowing she didn't have to lie. It was the truth, she just lived in different places along with Washington.

Jack: Jack believed Alex when she was talking about Washington but smirked at her,"Washington? You mean where the vampires and werewolves lived? I knew there was something different about you shrimp, but I didn't know you could be a vamp."

Alex: Alex rolled her eyes and pushed Jack's shoulder before saying sarcastically,"Good one Jack, really. So funny." She couldn't help but smile when Jack grinned at her and shake we head.

Toby: Toby smiled knowingly at Alex and answered the question previously asked. "I live in South Carolina, been there all my life. Before I was born my parents took a vacation there, they rented a beach house and I guess they liked it so much they never left" he said shrugging and smiling thinking about his home and his parents.

Alex: Alex chuckled at Toby's knowing smile and grinned as he spoke. Seeing him smile after talking about his parents made her start thinking about how good of people they are. She hoped that when she meets them she will like her and not tell Toby to ignore her or not be her friend. Just thinking about that made Alex's stomach churn in an uneasy fashion.

Jack: Jack nodded listening to Toby and said," South Carolina, I've seen pictures and such of that place. It's really beautiful. It must be fun living there."

Toby: Toby smiled "yeah, it's really nice, and the people are really friendly. I'm from a smallish town where everybody knows everybody, which can be good or bad" he said smiling at Alex. "where are you guys from?" he asked River and Jack.

River: River smiled "I'm from Florida" and waited for Jack to respond.

Jack: Jack smiled slightly and responded,"New York. Born and raised."

Alex: Alex smiled back at Toby remembering how they once spoke about the disadvantages and good things about living in a small town. She also smiled realizing Jack and Toby had a sort of conversation with neither of them scowling and or glaring at each other.

Toby: Toby smiled and leaned back on his arms. Maybe Jack wasn't SO bad, he didn't think he and Jack would ever be close friends but at least they could be civil to one another.

Amelia: Amelia continued to stare out at the water. She had never been anywhere as pretty as this island. She smiled to herself, glad to feel so far away from where she came from. She looked over and saw that now Jack, Alex, Toby, and River were sitting and talking together. She sighed and told herself that it was better that she was alone. If she was over there with them, she wouldn't even know what to say, anyways.

Serefima Kasai: Serefima watched the other students, wondering if she should go and talk to them. But she should steer clear of River; she didn't want to flame up. Water had that effect. Instead, acting like she had not just exploded a portion of the beach, she walked towards Amelia, cautiously avaoiding the water. Her flame necklace bounded against her chest as she greeted her. "Hi, I'm Serefima. Haven't seen you yet, what's your name?"

Toby: Toby smiled and leaned back on his arms. Maybe Jack wasn't SO bad, he didn't think he and Jack would ever be close friends but at least they could be civil to one another.

Alex: Alex grinned happily at Toby before turning to Jack with interest,"What's New York like? I've never been before." Alex thought of all the times she had made plans to run away to New York since it was an ideal place to go but every time she tried there was an obstacle keeping her away.

Jack: Jack thought about the dingy, battered, useless apartment back in New York where he lived with his mother before coming to school. Seeing the hopeful glint in her eye and the smile on her face though, Jack smiled and said,"The city is beautiful, especially at night when the lights are visible. The parks and the woods at the end of the city are my favorite though, it's like you're in a completely different world." He grinned at Alex seeing her please with his answer.

Margo: Margo looked out at the beach. She was trying to decide whether to go join the big group or not. Then she spotted one of the new girls talking with Amelia on the sand. Margo decided this would be the perfect time to get to know the new girl. She sat down next to them, saying, "Hello! I'm Margo."

Nate: Nate had brought his surfboard down to the beach. He watched the others all talk as he got his board ready. He wondered if anyone else could surf.

Serefima Kasai: Serefima turned, and looked over to Margo. "Hey," she said, not used to the attention. The water suddenly tip-toed up closer to them, and Serefima lept back with a squeal. Then, pink with embarrassment, she murmured "Sorry. I'm Serefima." She fingered her necklace, remembering the words etched onthe other side. And how water had ruined them.

Margo: Margo wondered why Serefima seemed so afraid of the water, but decided not to ask. "Good to meet you. Have you gotten used to the new school and all?" Margo poked her feet into the sand, glad to be at the beach instead of in class.

Alex: Alex grinned happily at Toby before turning to Jack with interest,"What's New York like? I've never been before." Alex thought of all the times she had made plans to run away to New York since it was an ideal place to go but every time she tried there was an obstacle keeping her away.

River: River smiled at the thought of New York at night.

Toby: Toby sat back up straight and ran his hands through the sand creating ridges and hills. He then began to draw lines through the sand with his fingers reminding of his childhood and when he used to spend hours playing on the beach.

Margo: Margo wondered why Serefima seemed so afraid of the water, but decided not to ask. "Good to meet you. Have you gotten used to the new school and all?" Margo poked her feet into the sand, glad to be at the beach instead of in class.

Serefima shrugged. "Sort of. It's so much better than my opd schools. Here, I don't feel so.." She struggled to find a word. "Different." While she was sayig this, she remembered a similar conversation on how a new school would help with ine of her old friends. But that was over.

Margo: "Yeah, I know what you mean. It's like back at home we were the weirdos and here we can all be weirdos together." The wind started to blow Margo's hair, so she put it up.

Serefima Kasai: Serefima laughed. "Yeah," she agreed, breathing in the fresh air deeply. "So, since I'm new, who are they?" she asked, pointing to the other various people on the beach. "Specifically," she said, "her." She ponted to River. She looked nice, but the name worried her.
