Directed by:
Angel (Mandy) – Control freak, veteran of 14 trips, organizer extraordinaire
Chunkster20uk (Mark) – also a control freak, and chief driver

Produced (& financed) by:
Dad – Grandpa Clampet – lovable, impatient & grumpy
Mum – Grandma Clampet – also loveable, much more patient and not so grumpy (but very hard of hearing)

Choreography:
Isobelle (Izzy) – age 12, already a Diva

Chief Jester:
Elliott – age 14, a lovable 6ft 4inch streak of lightning

..and starring..
Becky – 19 – my dd, beautiful, talented, takes after her Mum
Paul – 22 - Becky’s bf, no idea what he’s let himself in for….
Tracey – my little sis, hates planning, and being told what to do…
Chris – BIL – see above
Jess – 17 – chief mourner, pining for her bf back in Swindon

All the holidaymakers have done Disney before, sis & family just once in 2001, for Mum & Dad it’s their 4th visit in 6 years, Paul was here 10 years ago…and Mark, Becky and I have racked up nearly 30 trips between us…..

Day 4

Monday 22nd October

Happy Anniversary Mum & Dad! Up early as usual and wished the parents a Happy Anniversary. I’d bought them a card before we left, lost it, then bought another and packed it immediately thank goodness! Dad’s not feeling too good this morning and they both want a bit of a rest so have decided not to come to EPCOT after all but will stay around the villa this morning. We’re all going to dinner at Red Lobster tonight as it’s their favourite. There’s a meet with some internet friends at Beaches & Cream at 11 am and we’d love to get there but it’s very difficult with family commitments so we’ll have to wait and see.

It’s a beautiful day today, the best so far, very warm though I think there are storms on the way. Taking just Becky & Paul with us we manage to arrive in EPCOT by 9am; Tracey & gang are later leaving as Jess is still straightening her hair I think. They’ll take the bus and leave dad the car in case they need it. (So complicated) Rush off to get our fast passes for Soarin’ as soon as we arrive, and there’s only a 20 minute wait do we do stand by as well. It’s such a lovely ride, and I love the feeling of flying over all those places, smelling the oranges on the trees, the pines in the forest and the sea air….lovely!

After this we sit with a drink and spy our Clampet family above us, it’s easy to spot Elliott as he’s so tall. They’ve just ridden the ‘Land’ and seen a show and we all have FPs apparently for Soarin at the same time, so that’s cool. All wander round a bit (I have an image of weebles all wobbling around now for some reason). Only trouble is, riding Soarin’ with the family will mean we miss the meet but we make the decision to do the ride as family is important and I’m sure our Dibber friends will understand (sorry!) Everyone enjoys Soarin as much as I hoped, though Tracey apparently grips Chris’s hand very tightly for a while imagining we’re going on some scary ride.

We head off to Test track next which is a very boring wait for a few minutes ride, but Mark likes it so that’s ok. It’s cars, what can I say? It’s time to meet by the pub in ‘England’ now and on the way we stop at one of the food stalls for some seafood which has a bit too much onion in for me. We’ll do the festival properly next week I think and give it the attention it deserves.

Outside the Rose & Crown we find a table and sit with a beer waiting for the rest oft eh Clampets to show up, watching the street theatre as we wait. Elliott and Isobelle are a little confused as to why there’s a sports shop in the pavilion, but aren’t we all? Why do they sell iced tea in the tea room too? Not very British is it? I think this is the poorest of the ‘countries’ here, though I suppose that’s what everyone says about their own country……I don’t suppose Mexican people live by a pyramid thing and drink tequila all day either!

It’s very hot by now and we amble round to Mexico looking for some lunch and a margarita. Frozen margaritas and a Mexican chicken salad for me, they’re both lovely and I enjoy eating in the sun although it does start to get a little too hot on my head sitting there. Becky & Paul are also feeling the heat, so we decide to head off to DTD for an hour or two before we go home. Sis & co stay on to do Test Track and Mission Space (I did warn them!). Becky & Paul are dropped off by Virgin, while we buy a lovely photo frame for Mum & Dad with spaces for all their holiday memories. I’m really pleased with it, and the nice lady gift wraps it for me too. I also manage to slip off and buy Mark a couple of t shirts for his birthday on Wednesday, an ESPN lacrosse one (he plays lacrosse), and a Tommy Bahamas that I know he’ll love.

We’ve soon all had enough and dd & bf are not impressed by Virgin after all and have bought only Mark’s present too. Mark has taken the car over to the Dollar place in a local hotel while we’re at DTD and has had great trouble finding it….turns out The Grosvenor has now changed its name to The Regal or something…great! A warning light has been coming on in the car but Dollar reckon its nothing to worry about….hmmmmmm. Manage to catch sis on the phone and tell not to bother taking the bus over there as its now closing (its 4.30) Just catch them in timer to save a wasted journey thank goodness. We’ve noticed the bus has torn seats ion the back and we wanted to make sure we reported in rather be charged for damage we didn’t do! Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

Back to the villa…….we so wish it was nearer!.......and time for another swim I think! Shower and change. Dad says he’s feeling up to red Lobster so Mark says he’ll do the driving tonight if Chris takes him out for a test run first, which he does just the two of them. Better idea than trying to get used to the bus with the whole Clampet gang onboard!

Trek off to the Red Lobster on the 192, by Formosa Gardens. I hear Liam Gallagher of Oasis was here later that week, wish he’d stop following us around! ;) We’re told it’ll be a bit of a wait so some of us ‘pop’ over the road (have you tried crossing this road?!!!!!) to the Denim place by Taco Bell. Paul manages to get a cool t shirt for Mark, which is nice. Back at the restaurant we find the other Clampets popping up the bar, so that’s as it should be then. The staff soon have us seated and hidden well away in a little back room, can’t imagine why?

Tracey and I share a giant strawberry Lobsterita (that’s a frozen margarita to you) and I have a trio of shrimp for dinner, which includes garlic shrimp and coconut shrimp, and is very yummy. Mark has never-ending shrimp but it’s a waste as he can’t eat that much of it anyway. The hot, fresh cheddar bay biscuits are marvelous as always and Becky is very jealous, munching on her apple & walnut salad. The bill comes to $260 for 11 people with drinks and a service charge included. Incredible value I think, as we’re all stuffed to the gills., and some of us are not a little squiffy.

Main thing is, the parents have enjoyed their evening, and we toast them once again and thank them…without them we wouldn’t all be here after all…literally! Turns out they had a quiet day, popping out to their favourite place….Wallmart! They know how to have a good time those Clampets. They’re really pleased with the photo frame by the way so that’s good too.

Mark drives us carefully back home; we all feel much safer with him driving by the way. Then it’s a little TV for some and bed for other sleepy little Clampets (that’s me). Typhoon Lagoon and a Shuttle launch tomorrow…can’t wait! Up, up and away………….

Propping up the bar sounds like a fab way to pass the time :rotfl2: red lobster sounds lovely

Happy Anniversary to you mum and dad! The food sounds great:thumbsup2

Really pleased your mum & dad had a fab anniversary - how many years have they clocked up?

What a great day Mandy - shame you missed the meet though.

A nice day at Epcot. shame you missed the meet, but it is so hard to fit so much in when you have so many people with you.

Lovely evening for all your family.
