well if you can go anytime (not constrained by school terms, etc.) i would think that mid-September is the best time to go....since no one else is i would imagine that all the prices are really low (flights, hotels)...
we were there this year in september (sept 9 to 18) and it was wonderful...nice hot weather (with almost no rain), and no crowds at all (at least as compared to July)...

great... i can go anytime for this year only (going back to uni!)

which hotels would you reccommend? need cheap and with transport to parks...

well the people on this board are very knowledgeable about packages (including flight/hotel/food/etc), so i'd wait for them to respond....

i don't know any of that....

I'd get the components separately online. We did ours all through a Thomas Cook, and the service was fine and everything. But some friends were looking at going next summer and pricing it online with Expedia I got a quote for 2 adults and 2 children plus car for 2 weeks in Pop Century for about £4000. If you look in the Virgin brochure that time of year is about £900 for one week for one adult - from about mid-August the Disney prices go down but UK TAs don't reflect that until the end of the school holidays. One thing to note of course is that late August to mid-November is peak hurricane season, so you might prefer to go in June before the US schools break up. Tips I've picked up (from the boards or my visit) that I wish I knew before:

If you buy an AP you get a discount on accomodation and everything you buy in the parks (except for the little carts) -you only need one person to have an AP, everyone else can get ordinary tickets

The transport is actually pretty good - we could have saved the car money by getting a taxi if we wanted to go offsite, or just get a car for the second week (because its nice to put your hand luggage in on your last day) - there is quite a good selection of stuff in the gift shop and although it is dearer than the supermarket its not really if you add on the cost of that day's car hire :rotfl:

Going in low season you can stay in a deluxe for the price of a peak-season value resort

It is seriously addictive - 7 months after my trip (and 10 years til my nex one) I'm still spending far to much time on these boards  :rotfl:

there was a thread here last month about how much everyone holiday cost

worth doing a search

My travel were doing free child places for next year

Sorry to be dense, but what is an AP?

an Annual Pass ticket to WDW.....it gives you unlimited entrance into the parks for a year, plus some other discounts (like 10% off some backstage tours, 10% or something like that discount on purchases at a particular store in downtown disney, discounts on onsite accomodation when available - these discounts aren't always available)..

for non-florida residents, there are two kinds of annual passes - the regular and the premium..
the regular gives you unlimited entrance into the 4 theme parks (MK, epcot, MGM and AK)...
the premium annual pass gives you unlimited entrance into the 4 theme parks, plus unlimited entrace into the 2 waterparks, disneyquest, the pleasure island clubs and the wide world of sports....i think that's it..

for anyone who will be vacationing at WDW for longer than a certain amount of time, even on one visit, the annual pass works out cheaper than other tickets....although this might not be true for those coming from the UK, where you seem to have tickets that aren't available in the states..

you also get a discount on the AP itself when you renew it the following year (i can't remember how much...maybe as much as 10%)...
but these tickets are very expensive...
we have premium annual passes and they cost something like $540 each....for 4 people that really adds up...

on the other hand, what the poster was suggesting is to check out the AP resort rates.....for example, in august i got an AP rate of $124/night at the WL for a standard room...i think the regular rater at the time was about $250 or so....so that's quite a bargain...over the 10 days we stayed, we saved about $1250......quite good.....so it makes sense to buy one AP to get that rate, since you only need one AP........

I agree it's worth looking at expedia.I plan to go to California next year, myself and my 3 children. However, to look at the virgin brochure, it was almost impossible as eldest DS would be charged as an adult making an august trip well up to £4000.00.With Expedia from around 2,8000 onwards :goodvibesThe only downside is you have to have it all up front, but what a saving :Pinkbounc

Hi - I think that your party size ie. whether single, couple , small family , large group etc. will also have a large influence on what is the cheapest in terms of booking travel and accommodation for you.

What is cheapest for families is not always same for singles, couples. :confused3

thanks guys.... i'll check out expedia...

there's probably just gonna be two or three adults... no kids... can travel more or less any time but preferably from a nothern UK airport.. and none of us can drive! duh...

Depending what you want to do & see, with no drivers, and no kids, you are much better off with a package to either I-Drive, or WDW resort hotels.

Do bear in mind that taxis are not particularly cheap in Orlando, so if staying off site try and get a hotel that has free transport to the parks if you can. Also it is not particularly easy, other than by taxi, to get from a WDW resort to I- Drive, and the other non Disney attractions.
You should think about whether you are looking at a mainly Disney, or mainly non Disney (ie Universal, Sea World , Discovery Cove, Bush Gardens etc) holiday before you book your accommodation.

Try Funway (they use Virgin flights)- they have a website and also brochures in travel agents, but I recommend you ring them direct yourself (after obtaining a brochure) for best prices.
Travel City Direct are pretty competative but they do get alot of flack about their service.

Watch out in the press for offers by Virgin around this time of year.

- a good time for you to go would be be early Feb - weather pretty good, parks pretty quiet, cheap and no hurricane season to worry about.

As reported on here before Virgin have been known to discount by 15% if you book on line on Christmas Day and I saw the same thing at Easter and I think someone mentioned New Years Day too - so if you're not in too much of a hurry to book you could get a bargain :flower:

We are booked for a 2 week holiday from 28th January. We wanted the crowds to be low and the weather not too hot. The cost was £2626.00 for 2 adults, children 15, 14, 11, & 8. We have a private villa with pool and a 7 seater MPV. We had to purchase park tickets ourselves but there are some really good deals on the net.
We booked with travelcity direct.

Owning a villa I know the weeks before xmas, late Jan. and Sept. and May are real good months to find a bargain from us. Not sure of plane fare as I am an American but I know the parks are less crowded at these times. Good luck with your travel plans.

We are booking with Skydeals for a second year and are well happy with their prices. A phone call will get a better price than on-line.

hi
have just booked two thomas cook flights with travelrepublic.co.uk for £372 each including all taxes etc.booked the hotel with octopus travel and the car with allstates car hire, it has come to the same total as travel city's least expensive package but you choose to go when and where you want (06/09/06)£1220
