Relaxing around the resort and mini-golf

Well the day started out pretty good, I got up early again to look at the animals and they were out in force, the group of giraffe were walking back and forth and occasionally going to drink from the watering hole. This was kind of funny as they have to bend sooo far to drink, all I kept thinking of the Jeffrey (sp?) commercials for Toys r us. DW wife woke up about an hour after me and joined me to watch the animals for a little while before we showered and got dressed and headed back to Boma for breakfast. I have to say, as good as dinner was at Boma I think I liked breakfast better. The morning staff was just as nice as the evening crew and they too gave us a very nice card. We sat down next to a very nice couple from up north (Illinois I think but I dont remember exactly) that were in the DVC and visiting for the week. We also ran into an older couple with kids on the elevator that had their honeymoon at Disney World 25 years ago, it was very cool. The food was very good and very filling. After the meal we went back up to the room to look at the animals for a bit longer, we might as well enjoy the room if we are going to pay for it. We also decided to just explore the lodge a bit as well; we went down all the hallways and looked out all of the observation balconies. This really is an amazing place. Then we headed off to Downtown Disney to pick up the shirts we ordered from Roboshirts. We walked through the shops again for a little while and then headed off to wander around the resorts. We first drove around the Epcot area and decided it would be nice to play some mini-golf, so we stopped at Fantasia mini-golf. It was very fun; I got a hole in one on the first hole and thought I was on my way to having a great game and kicking DWs butt. Little did I know that a few hole in ones were not enough to stop a steady consistent game if you have a few holes that are at 6 strokes. So needless to say by the end of the game it was I who had his butt kicked, with a little husbandly fudging to help her out. She was very happy though and thats what really matters. After mini-golf we went over to the Wide World of Sports to see what it was because neither of us had been there. It was deserted and not even the store was open so we headed back to the lodge to catch a nap before going to Ohana for dinner. We headed over to the Polynesian (sp?) for dinner and went through a nightmare trying to find the parking lot and then parking. I have been here before but I have never been the one driving so this was just a pain, it was late enough that there were no attendants in the parking booths and the signs are not real clear as to which way to turn so I kept heading left like an idiot and circled for ten minutes. After realizing that there was a road going to the right and thats where the resorts were I headed that way. Upon reaching the parking lot I promptly passed the guest parking area and ended up in the valet lot that guest cant enter. I decided to turn around and saw a Disney tractor-trailer parked on the road with his emergency flashers on. I stopped and waited a minute or so and decided that he was just parked and wasnt going to move. I went ahead and pulled out and made a wide u-turn completely away from the truck and away from his lane. As we were turning he pulled forward rather quickly and headed right for us turning into the oncoming lane that we were in. I had to pull up onto the curb to avoid getting hit. I didnt think it was possible but the Disney truck drivers are worse than the Disney bus drivers. We finally parked and headed in for dinner. The Poly is a very nice resort; I love the views and the tropical feel to it. It is one of the other resorts I considered staying at for the honeymoon. While waiting for our table we wandered through the shops just looking around, and one of the CMs noticed our wedding ears and told my wife that she had a phone call, when she picked up the phone she smiled brightly and kept laughing, she told me it was Mickey and Minnie congratulating her on the wedding. That was very nice of him. Our pager buzzed so we thanked him and headed back to Ohana for dinner. At Ohana everyone is family and therefore they call everyone cousin (they tell you the whole story when you go, which you should because it is fun) Because I had on the groom ears, all of the CMs were calling me cousin groom. The waiter at the tables next to ours was great fun and he made fun of me throughout the evening. Unfortunately our waitress was very moody and not really that enjoyable. The other CM was great though and made up for it (wish I couldve left the tip for him) I really wish I remembered names better, I am really terrible about that. The first thing he did was rip the bottom off of two thermal cups and told me that if I was willing to wear something that looked as silly as the groom hat I should have no problem with wearing something like this, and he stuck the cups over my real ears. He then drew attention to this by pointing it out to everyone in eyesight. DW thought this was very funny, and so did I to be truthful, I am a pretty good sport about that sort of thing. He continued doing various things during dinner like twisting my hat around when he walked by or telling me that as cousin groom as was required to participate in the coconut hockey game that the kids play. All in all the dinner was very fun and we had a pretty good view of the castle across the lake. And as always the food was fabulous, and there was so much of it. We then headed back to the lodge and wondered around outside at night a little. They were doing night vision viewing on Arusha (sp?) rock but there was only one night scope and a bunch of people fighting for it with no real order being maintained by the CM, so we passed on this. We strolled around looking at the animals and then headed of to bed for the night. Tune in next time for the Final Day, off to the Magic Kingdom
