For those of you who are not familiar with my family, and have not read previous trippies and the pre-trip report, please let me do the introductions:
Myself (Catherine) (41) - loves anything Disney, especially Pooh and Mickey as Sorcerors Apprentice
DH (John) (47) - luckily loves disney as well, and is usually happy to agree with my plans
DS (Stephen) (14) - not too bad as a teenager, but doesn't like rides that go upside-down!
Monday 31 July 2006 - Day Twelve - Epcot & MGM
I was awake and up by 7.00 am this morning, but Stephen is getting really difficult to get up now. By the time he had showered and was ready to go it was about 10.30 am. Breakfast was at Shoneys, which was OK. Cost for three of us was $32.61, although DS didn't eat much.
Into Epcot and went straight to get a FastPass for MS. Then we wanted to go and see Ellen, but it wasn't working. So, being really organised, we walked over to the other side of Epcot and did HISTA, which was a walk on. Then, back to Ellen, which was now working. DS was a little worried that we would go over fastpass time for MS, but told him not to worry.
Then it was over the MS to use the fastpass. We did the orange route this time, and although more intense than the green route, it seemed less intense than I remember last year.
Went to check on DS's favourite ride TT, and the queue just for single riders was 30 minutes and was out the door. Fastpass return was between 6.00 p, & 7.00 pm, which was too late for us as we had an ADR at H&V and then Fantasmic.
Took a stroll round Innoventions East and West, and then made our way out of the park. On the way out we did SE, still an excellent ride IMHO.
We then went to find our Leave a Legacy tile from 2004. It only has Stephen on it, and we did manage to find it despite the fact that we think it had moved from last year!
He is right in the middle of the picture - 3rd row down and 4th in from the left.
Cannot believe how much he had changed in two years!. He still looks like a little boy then, but now he is a young man - oh my god, do I feel old!
Over to MGM and we arrived just as the parade was about to start. As we had already seen it earlier in our holiday we went up to GMR. There were about 15 people in front of us, but I really wanted to do the cowboy version (as we always seemed to get the gangster one!), so we did have to wait a little while longer. You may already know this, but it would seem that if only the back car is there, you will always get the gangster version. If there are two cars there, the front car will get the cowboy version.
Came out of the ride to find it absolutely hammering it down with rain and thunder and lightening. We had an ADR for H&V and the Fantasmic package, so we waited about 5 minutes while DH had a smoke, and then ponchos on (we actually had them with us for once!), and ran to check in for ADR. All DS was worried about was the fact that a pair of his new trainers were getting wet!!!!
Had about a 10 minute wait, and then they let us into the restaurant. All you can eat buffet - $76 for all of us. It was lovely. We took as long as possible over the meal as it was still raining quite hard outside, although the thunder and lightening had stopped.
DH needed another smoke, so we arranged to meet him at Oscars in half an hour and Stephen and I went shopping. Well, what else can you do when it is raining???
Purchased one hoodie, one t-shirt, one gold necklace for me and some more anntenna toppers and fridge magnets for my collections. At last a shopping trip when I bought stuff for myself rather than everyone else!
Down to Oscars and met up with DH. Made our way up to the theatre and it was still raining. This had obviously put some people off and we managed to get seats nearer the front than we ever had ever been before. Sat in ponchos for a while and chatted with a really nice family next to us. The rain eventually stopped with 10 minutes to go, so ponchos came off and the mexican wave started.
The theatre was still not full when the show started, and despite being nearer the front, my photos were still rubbish.
The only photo was was really any good(!)
The show, as always was excellent, but I do think they should stagger the times between Fantasmic and Illuminations, as we kept getting Illuminations fireworks in the background. Just a thought Mr Disney!
After the show, we slowly made our way out of the park and then home to bed
