The Canadian Pavillion at Epcot

I'm not sure if adding a scaled down version of The Bay would make sense--it's not something uniquely Canadian, it's a department store selling for the most part the same stuff (made in China) as every other department store in north America.

The Bay - while now a department store is uniquely Canadian and as Craig pointed out does sell heritage goods. I think a history of the company along with some heritage goods would be a great addition. I love the blankets.

While the pavilion is not supposed to be a dose of home for Canadians but rather a reflection of Canada for others most Canadians would agree that the lumberjacks theme doesn't do either. I've run into many people outside of Canada who truly believe that we can ski all year round. I would like the pavilion to give an accurate protrayal of Canada and there are lots of things that are uniquely Canadian that could be shown rather than what is actually shown now.

Well, if you were in Barrie last weekend you would have been snowshoeing LOL!

I agree that the lumberjack thing is a bit over the top. I'd actually rather see ya'll wearing Roots gear, maybe with a COPA logo on it? Or a western/cowboy theme to represent AB/SK culture.

And another idea--the Alberta Cattle Commission could have some sort of exhibit on an industry that's very important to AB. I'ms ure there are a TON of other agencies like that who could take part in revolving exhibits.

I'd also really like to see First Nations represented much more than they are now.

Just some thoughts.

That makes sense.

I think they have done a pretty good job of representing "First nations" as far as the shops and the film go. While it is definitely a huge part of the Canadian history, I don't think it is "uniquely" Canadian, since much of the US was originally inhabited by Native peoples as well.

I actually don't mind the whole "Lumberjack" thing, considering what other CM's have to where in the various WS countries...I think the Canuck outfits look easy-going, comfortable and refreshing.

I also agree about Canada being represented as somewhere that is locked in a snow-covered deep freeze all year. Where I live we barely eeked out 2 days of snow (and even then it was an embarrassingly small amount), and we had cherry blossoms, and daffodils in February and temps in the mid 60's in March :)
