im assuming the buzz lightyear ride is an idea borrowed from WDW,and i was just wondering if anyone had been on it there, and if so,is it worth the wait?

I've been on it more times than I can count in WDW and Disneyland California. It's always extremely popular. I don't know quite what the attraction is - it's just really good fun and there's a competitive element too. You get a laser gun to shoot at targets to help Buzz defeat the evil Emperor Zurg. You can see your points racking up as you go along and at the end you get a score which tells you which level you have reached eg: space trooper etc. It's also extremely bright and fun - as someone said recently, it's like being inside a gigantic Fisher Price game!! Just harmless fun and I'm sure it'll be hugely popular at DLP too. If you go on the Disneyland California website you can play it interactively.

I absolutely love the ride. It is so fun to play with your family and see who wins.
:-)))).

Definitely try it once - even if there is quite a long queue. It doesn't make you feel sick and isn't scary in anyway - but the competitive element makes it such fun to ride again and again. Anybody, of any age can ride it and it really is ride that the whole family can enjoy together.

Is the ride anything like the Men In Black ride at Universal Studios? If so I really enjoyed it! :)

Yes it is Emma - you can even twirl your "space vehicle" round to get a better shot at the targets if you want to like on MiB. But personally I much prefer Buzz.

I hated MIB at Universal Studios, I nearly got sick in that, and I didn't get any points, because I didn't know where to shoot...

Buzz at WDW on the other hand was so much fun. It's not a spectacular ride, but it's one of those to hide from the heat (or rain, in DLRP's case) and try to improve your previous score. A lot of fun is guaranteed! :sunny:

Yes I agree Kristof. I think we only did MiB once but we go on Buzz over and over again - really good fun. I think it's aimed at children (or big children!!! :rotfl: ) whereas MiB is more adult-orientated.

Another vote for Buzz, great ride!

Should have just opened when I'm there next May so looking forward to having a few goes.

another vote for buzz, as everyone said it really is for the whole family, my nephew was 3 in WDW in may and he lovwed it, you don,t have to spin the car if you don,t want to, if you love toy story it will be worth the wait.

I guess you guys didn't like the Cat in the Hat ride at Island of Adventure, then? ;) My dad can't stand things that spin too much, either - he has to sit out when the rest of us go on the Mad Hatter's Teacups, bless him!

Absolutely right Emma!! Only did that one once too!!! Such wusses!!! Teacups would be vomit central for us I'm afraid (sorry for the inelegant description folks!!!)

Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin is a lot of fun. [at WDW]
We couldn't be bothered to queue during the day as it does get busy, but had the privilage of the "Extra Magic Hours" whilst staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge in September. This mean't that we [as Disney residents] had access to the Magic Kingdom after normal hours until 11pm.

The benefit was the lack of queues whic was fabulous, so we went on all the stuff we couldn't be bothered to queue for in the day (Peter Pan, Stitches Great Escape etc).

Oh what fun. It was a giggle, especially with fewer kids around and mostly adults being Buzz Lightyear.......what are we like ???

It looks like Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast will be based on the Tokyo and Calif versions of the attraction. One benefit is that the laser gun can be lifted off its base to aid in aiming and shooting. It's not fixed to the vehicle. Another benefit is that when you hit a target you're given some feedback (in the form of lights) so you know you've hit something.

Sounds like Space Ranger Spin with a tiny hint of Men in Black:Alien Attack.

I kind of like having the cannon on the front rather than in your hand, although still unbeaten at MIB !!

Is it a ride that could become one of the most popular in the parks,or is it one that wont be able to compete with the big thunder mountains and rock n roll rollercoasters?

It's certainly not a thrill ride - it's very sedate but great fun. I think it will be hugely popular but it's a very long way from being a coaster (for which I'm truly grateful!!! :rotfl: )

It's so much fun and so addicting. I've been on the one in WDW and will going on the one in Disneyland in less than a week! :Pinkbounc I can go on it multiple times in a row without getting tired of it. It's lots of fun to compete with your family and see who can get the highest score (ok I have to brag a bit, I got a score of 999,999 a couple of times ;) ). I can't wait to go on Buzz Lightyear on my first trip to Disneyland Paris! :cool1:

Liav and I have done Buzz many times at WDW, and it's really fun for all ages, and as someone said, addicting, because you want to keep bettering your score! Rita, I was happy to hear your comment that the DLP version will have features that they don't have in WDW, if I understood you correctly? You'll be able to lift the gun and get immediate feedback? That is great !!! :cheer2:

Love that ride, and I'm sure it will be a hit at DLP!
