Another thread today mentioned that 70% of visitors to Disney visit only once. Not sure how accurate that stat is, but it does illustrate that many guests are newbies. Plus, less than 2% of all visitors visit this website. In other words, there are many guests who may be naive. I never assume someone who enters a bus did so irresponsibly or expecting a seat. I think some just don't know. I guess I believe in giving the benefit of the doubt rather than assuming they should have researched this and knew to take a cab, rent a car, etc. You seem to assume everyone has poor intentions which I simply don't believe. But I may be just misreading your posts.
Plus, not everyone gets a chance for a seat. I saw a family who waited for 30 minutes with me in the sun at Typhoon Lagoon around 2:00 pm to go back to the resort. One had a small sleeping child. When the bus arrived, it "looked" empty as no one was standing, but upon entering, every seat was taken by someone from DTD. No one offered to give the Mom a seat. Should the Mom get off the bus and wait 30 minutes hoping the next bus wasn't already full and then wait another 30 minutes and so on....
Similarly, we have been FIRST in line at the All-Star Music first thing in the morning. When we got on the bus, there were no empty seats as everyone from the All-Star Sports had already taken the seats. If I was 7 months pregnant, I should just wait 20 minutes for the next bus?
My point is don't judge others. Not everyone is expert at public transportation. I never take public transportation except when travelling at WDW. Thank goodness most people are kind and help fellow strangers. Not everyone is which is why this thread keeps going and going.
ETA: I do think threads like this are good for both sides to see the other's viewpoint. We don't have to agree, but it's good to understand each other's perspective. It may make more people aware that getting onto buses that are crowded is not good if you desire a seat as others have good reasons to be seated too. It may make other people consider looking around to see if somone needs assistance when they are on buses.
