They are excessively long and very far apart but here is the story of day 4.

Our final day in the parks started out just like all the others, I was once again up first and Tracey shortly after me. We had to drag Josh out of bed and convince him that Goofy was on the phone before he would get up though. All the late nights were starting to wear on him but his daily snoozes which normally we don’t allow (nasty parents) were keeping him going. My throat had pretty much given up on me by this stage off our trip, I think the heat, dehydration and shouting “Donald, I love you Donald” had taken its toll and I could barely speak much louder that a whisper. Funnily enough no-one in our party was complaining that they couldn’t hear me.

We met up with Josh’s little friend and her Granny’s down at breakfast and said our goodbyes as they were leaving that day. Josh could well have just skipped breakfast for what we managed to get him to eat. I managed to eat my fill and then we were once again on our way to the parks. For a bit of a change we decided to walk through the Hotel Cheyenne as opposed to walking on our own side of the river. The Cheyenne has totally changed (I think) since we stayed there in ’93, back then I am sure everything was based at one end, IE reception, bar and restaurant but now is seems to have shifted into the middle, please tell me if I am wrong. I loved the way they had the option of sitting outside and quaffing breakfast and thought if we go back I would like to try this. As we have our next trip planned for January I suspect sitting outside for breakfast will not be a good idea, frozen croissants and cold coffee really don’t appeal unless we have a freak hot spell or a real big fire outside.

We stopped and marvelled at the giant fish that inhabit that green stagnant water that I suspect is meant to be a river between the cheaper and more expensive resorts. I have included a picture below of what I think are carp but not being a fisherman I would not stake my life on it.

Carp?

We mat up with Beth and Harry on the bench overlooking Newport Bay Club hotel and had a bit of a more casual walk through Disney Village and we even slowed down enough to take some photos.

Not surprisingly we headed for Fantasyland again and did Dumbo and the Carousel but we couldn’t do the tea cups as it was broken, as I walked past and they were busy pulling up bits of the floor and there was a smell of burning. They were standing around the hole pointing and shaking their heads, if they had been mechanics looking at my car I would be expecting something expensive to happen. Still for all the pointing and head shaking it was working later in the day. I am pretty sure that as they closed the Tea Cups they opened up it’s a small world instead. I can’t say for sure as it has become a bit of a small world blur after the number of times we rode it.

Anyway after Fantasyland we headed for the Studios again, today it wasn’t raining and the sun was burning down on my pale northern skin. Took a few pictures of the entrance (below) and then we marched through and went to the time board to decide what we wanted to do.

The tram tour was leaving in a few minutes so we decided to march briskly down there to do that. Josh was of the opinion that Catastrophe Canyon would be a little too intense for him so he sat this one out, Tracey stayed with him as we are really not into leaving him alone. Very similar ride to the one in Florida and as our screen was broken we only got to hear Jeremy Irons and the French woman who shares the commentary with him.

Loved the Cybersaur

Tracey took Josh on a walking, well mostly pushing, tour of the Studios, and below are some of the highlights.

Once we were all reunited Stitch was only a few minutes from starting so we rushed in to see that show and what a great show it was. The technology to do this is quite outstanding and Josh just stared at Stitch totally accepting that he was real.

We then headed over to the Cars attraction and as the queue was not excessive Tracey, Harry, Josh and I decided we needed to ride it. This is the only time when we were there when someone pushed past us in the queue. We didn’t mind as much as it was two wives with children joining husbands who had been queuing. The wait was short but not half as short as the ride. The two pictures below show me and Harry squeezing into the back seat of the car and then pretending to be comfortable. Tracey got to sit next to Josh who really doesn’t take up too much space. He loved the ride and when we return in January this will be a sure favourite.

Squeezing

Pretending to be comfortable

After we came out of the show it was so hot we decided an ice cream break was required, I believe that Magnums or the French equivalent were the main orders but I could be wrong as I am currently functioning on about 4 hours sleep a day and brain a bit fuzzy. Josh had one of those pushy up lolly things which made surprisingly little mess.

Not so messy lolly
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lazydayz/2710989475/" title="DSCF2263 by LazyDayz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3148/2710989475_951188f706.jpg" width="375" height="500" alt="DSCF2263" /></a>

It was then time to go to Tower of Terror as the fast passes I didn’t mention we got earlier had come up. We tried to do child swap again but it was a bit of a farce and as I wanted to do the stunt show and Tracey wanted to take Josh back to see Tarzan I rode Tower of Terror with Beth and Harry and she headed over to Disneyland again with Josh asleep.

Tower of Terror was very good, although it doesn’t have the separate drop shaft like Florida’s it is still excellent and the bonus is we all get lap belts and not bars so there is excessive air time at the top of the drops. It is hard to believe and only a few years ago I was terrified by this thing and would not ride it. The thing that makes me be able to ride this and other such rides now is screaming, I will explain. We were sat waiting for some show in Walt Disney World and I overheard a father behind me telling his young son that when they go on scary rides not to tense up and hold your breath as that makes it worse but to scream. I want to thank that anonymous father and apologise for the girlish screams I emit on such rides.

When we exited Tower of Terror I had 5 minutes to get to the Stunt Show and Beth and Harry expected me to throw in the towel, well not this intrepid (read stupid) holidaymaker. I ran all the way there, I say ran but it was more of a hurried walk. I arrived just before the show started and was sat up at the back, stage left. Not the best seat but a good one, when I got seated my phone rang and I expected it to be Tracey but no it was my friend Faizal calling me from the UK. He called to ask me what I was up to, I told him where I was and he hung up quickly afraid of mobile international call rates. The show was very good and although I didn’t get any pictures I taped the whole thing so Tracey could watch it when we returned home.

Once I left there, it was about the time that Tracey’s Tarzan show was going in so as I passed Armageddon I asked how long it was until the next show and I was told 10 minutes so I decided to join the queue. This was maybe my only pushing scrum experience as when the doors opened to let everyone in I am sure there must have been money on the floor as the push was incredible. I just waited and happily stood at the back to watch the pre-show. Once we got into the main theatre for the ride I was very impressed and instead of pushing forward to get as close to those guard rails as possible I just sauntered in (something I do occasionally) and took in the set and the surroundings the detail is incredible. I was surprised at the number of people who just concentrate on the middle when everything is kicking off on the experience. There are corridors collapsing and views of the exterior of the station being destroyed but they just keep watching the middle, incredible.

When I came out of here I rang Tracey to see where she was and made my way over to see her. When we met it was way past lunch time and we decided to just get a snack as we were going to Buffalo Bills later that evening. We went to Victoria’s home style restaurant and although I have never been given food on polystyrene plates at home we all really enjoyed this meal. Tracey and I had the mushroom Croque-Monsieur which was fantastic if a little artery clogging, we both had a beer to go with this which was the first alcohol we even touched on this trip, well apart from the wine we had at Blue Lagoon. We sat just inside the arcade and enjoyed our little break from the heat and the crowds.

Once again I seem to have a mental block over exactly what we did next but I do have traumatic memories of Josh wanting once again to ride It’s a small world. We were on our way over there when the parade started, we were just going to walk by it but we walked past an empty piece of rope and just had to stop. I have just put a view parade pics below this time.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lazydayz/2710993483/" title="DSCF2299 by LazyDayz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3286/2710993483_5b0d540452.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSCF2299" /></a>

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lazydayz/2711806092/" title="DSCF2305 by LazyDayz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3114/2711806092_820063b180.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSCF2305" /></a>

Once this was done we headed once again onto It’s a small world. When we came out Josh wanted to do it again so we walked around to the entrance and went again. And repeat.

We were to meet Beth and Harry at Buffalo Bills at 6pm so we did a little shopping before we left the park, I say a little shopping but it was enough that I decided I would take it back to our room rather try to take it into Buffalo Bills.

Well the walk back was hot and sticky and I didn’t have much time so I was marching at a good pace back to our hotel. Upon arriving I tried the key in the door lock and it didn’t work, I tried it again and nothing. I was hot sweaty, annoyed and carrying bags full of merchandise as I marched up to the reception to complain. Now if anyone remembers back in the first part of this trip report when we booked our rooms we never sorted out which room was booked for 3 nights and which was booked for 4 so they had cancelled both keys. I would have liked to have shouted at them in French or at least been able to express my annoyance but I don’t speak enough French and my voice would only allow a hoarse whisper. This was probably for the best as the girls on reception were lovely and had it sorted out in no time at all. Back at the room I dumped the bags and changed my now sweaty t-shirt and headed back to Buffalo Bills at the double.

You are told to arrive at Buffalo Bills nice and early but there is absolutely no need. The only reason they want you there early is to buy photos and drinks and they keep the heat so high that you need the latter. Once we were seated they started bringing drinks around, although its not really unlimited drinks they did come around enough that I didn’t go thirsty. I hoarsley joined in with the crowd interaction parts. The food was okay, I think it tastes better as you can’t really see it in the low light. Josh ate a few bits and pieces but was a bit restless in the quiet bits. He did like the animals and the cowboy bits though. He was fascinated with the buffalo.
"A buffalo? What's a buffalo?"
"A buffalo! Why, didn't you know?"
Parents will understand the above reference. Below is a picture of us in our cowboy hats.

Yeehaw pardner and other cowboy like phrases
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lazydayz/2710994953/" title="DSCF2343 by LazyDayz, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3217/2710994953_9eafa93255.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSCF2343" /></a>

Well once this had all been done all we had to do was walk back to our hotel, upon exiting the arena we saw people running around trying to avoid the rain, fortunately we had Josh’s buggy and the blue plastic bag ponchos were stashed in the bottom of it.

The rain passed before we got all the way back home but we were all very tired and sleep was beckoning. However we needed to get our luggage ready as we were going home the following day and would not have time to pack in the morning. We quickly got everything together and packed, it would have been a bit faster if Josh hadn’t helped us though.

Our tidy room

Well by now you know our nightly routine, Josh and Tracey pass out and I watch some Hannah Montana, Kim Possible and the Suite life of Zach and Cody.

Only one more short day to go.
