Between the full cast announcement for Back to the Future AND the Bombshell musical FINALLY happening I’m happy today lololol
The reviews are in and basically they all hate it. Some go to a bit more moderate, but generally the critic's consensus seems to be: Bad Cinderella is aptly named. It is too much, too confusing, too vulgar, and why does everyone call her bad Cinderella?Could go either way, I don’t predict the reviewers very well. The times guy used to hate everything and lately hasn’t been as harsh. But they were so harsh with KPOP it closed in week!
I think it will get mixed to positive if I had to guess.
The press goes after opening now as a principal member is out till opening which is in the 23rd. But I’ll be waiting to hear what they say!
Interesting. I do agree with some of that, the plot was a bit all over the place. But I enjoyed the music, and now my daughter wants to see it, so unless it closes very soon I’ll probably take her and I’ll be explaining everything haha! The reviews are in and basically they all hate it. The reviews do give us some good puns, 'gay-us ex machina' is one pun I would like to use in real life some day.
I think that the press didn't mention it because the press didn't attend opening night. They attended previews in the week leading up to the opening night and published it the moment the embargo was over.I will say this about ALW: He 100% made the right decision to be with his son and I’m glad everyone is respecting that (love hate or neutral on the show his son is innocent in all this) and I wish his son peace during this time. His video mentioned hospice, so I hope for his sake if it is in fact end of life hospice it is peaceful.
Press hasn’t attended opening night in a long time. They usually attend right after the freeze (when a show makes no changes prior to opening. Usually after a while they start changing and what not or even just tweaking stuff. Sometimes it’s just as simple as the lighting needs to be updated)I think that the press didn't mention it because the press didn't attend opening night. They might have missed the first message about the son and the second about the hospice.
I think if they knew there would be a remark about how ALW would miss the opening night, and maybe some less harsh remarks about the music and the musical in general. Some reviews were brutal. Several mention how ALW treated the London cast.
No, but it's my dream to jump in a time machine to go back in time and see it! I sometimes pull up the Tony clip of their performance. Looks amazing.Anyone here see Chicago with Bebe Neuwirth and Anne Reinking?
That was such an awesome performance!
Agreed. Screw cancer. A horrible disease. My condolences to the entire Lloyd Webber family.Andrew Lloyd Webber's son has passed. He was only 43. Cancer is insidious.
Best wishes to his family.

I binged about 2 decades of the Tony Awards during Covid. It made me happy.Just as an aside, it turns out that just about all the Tony awards shows of the past are on YouTube in their entirety. They're an interesting watch!
I am surprised they went with Fiddler for December
