Just saw "Life Could Be A Dream" at the New York Musical Theatre Festival today! So fun! It's sort of a spin-off of sorts of "The Marvelous Wonderettes," which played off-Broadway a few years back and there were a ton of references to Wonderettes that made it fun to connect the dots, so to speak. I really enjoyed it and the four guys (and one woman) in the show were all phenomenal singers! Looking forward to hopefully seeing "Wicked" in Boston next month, too.

What would be better for a 3 and 5 year old, Cinderella or The Lion King? We are going to NY in August and I am wondering which one to get tickets too. My kids are both girls and they watched both previews and they actually liked Lion King better but they also LOVE Cinderella (Disney version), one of them is also a little princess. I am so torn any suggestions would be appreciated!

My daughter was scared the first time she saw Lion King. She had an aisle seat and scrambled over when the animals started coming down be aisles. She spent the rest of the show on someone's lap. There are some scary parts in there! I think she was in 2nd grade. I'd go for Cinderella.

I'd go for Cinderella. While it is not the Disney version, the basic story is the same.

Thank you for your opinions, I just looked on the Cinderella website and they said that they will not permit any child under the age of 4 into the show, has anyone been to this yet with a child who is under 4? I would love to go to a show with my girls but it is looking pretty bleak right now

Nearly all show don't permit kids under 4 into their shows. Sometimes some of the Disney shows will. You'll have to check with each theater.

You could take her to Newsies. It's a fun show. The suggest over 6, but have no restriction. http://www.newsiesthemusical.com/faq

Took DD to see a local production of Crazy For You because she is in love with Frankie Grande. Saw it on a Wednesday night which was great because 90% of the audience was senior citizens who probably didn't know who he was, so when we stayed after to meet him, DD got to spend so much uninterrupted time with him taking pictures and having him sign her yearbook!

DD is about to see Newsies on Broadway.

My younger daughter was only 4 when we saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway (she's 21 now). It's a long time for a 4 year old to sit quietly, but she managed. She hid under her seat during the scene with the wolves -- she's seen the movie many times and wasn't scared, but having wolves the size of adults in front of her was a bit intense. Honestly I wasn't sure if we'd make it to the end of the performance.

Going to the theater as a young child will create a lifelong love of theater. But I think 4 is the cutoff age for good reason.

I'm newish to the thread... Did anyone else see The Little Mermaid when it was on Broadway, the Lunt Fontanne theater, I think. I loved it! Was hoping it would have toured by now. I think it was 2008 when I saw it there?

Saw it. Liked the first act. But the changes they made to act 2 didn't do it for me. Maybe that's why it didn't really work on stage.

OK, it's not exactly Broadway...but there was a stage and a Tony winner involved: I met Hugh Jackman last night!!!

I was at the 'fan event' screening of The Wolverine in NYC, where Hugh was scheduled to make an appearance, and me and two other people got picked to go up on the stage and ask him questions about the movie.

The questions were already written out for us, and I got to go first. Hugh asked me my name and then I asked my question ("How is Logan different in this film compared to the other X-Men movies?"), and he answered it both to the audience and and he kept talking right to me too! Then he told me he hoped I enjoyed the movie (and said my name again!) and everyone applauded, then it was the next guy's turn.

I was just like the whole time.

It was so cool! He's my favorite Broadway guy (I've seen him on Broadway 9 times, and I've seen Les Mis 6 times), and I'm a huge Wolverine fan too, so it was awesome!

The movie was great too! I almost forgot we were seeing it after that...

Little Mermaid just ended it's run in my city, it was here since the beginning of July. I didn't see it though.

Our Shows for the next season are already announced, but I'm glad to hear it's touring. Maybe it will come to Phoenix next season!

So, was Kinky Boots the "right" winner for best musical? I haven't seen it yet, but would like to.

I really want to see Kinky Boots. My BFF and I are trying to come up with a date to go into the city to see it. I saw a segment on Kelly & Michael yesterday and Michael was part of the cast for a few numbers. It looked really good!

Anyone on here see it yet? (we would be going for the cheap seats- not sure how the cheapies are in that theatre?)

We saw it at the beginning of this month- loved it! Would see it again- and we ran into the Tony winner (best lead actor in a musical) after the show on the street! Actually was able to let him know how much we enjoyed the show! He was really nice- even though he was between shows and probably just wanted to grab a bite to eat in peace.
