The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

Didn't they all play at one of the opening shows last year? They did American Idiot and Basket Case...or was that just Billie Joe? I watched one of the videos on youtube and Theo Stockman trying to stage dive is seriously one of the funniest things I've seen happen at a Broadway show ever. :lmao:

Hope you guys don't mind me popping into your thread? I am trying to fit four plays in a short visit to NYC. We will arrive Friday and depart on Sunday. The only must see is Mamma Mia.

Can I suggest you go and see Priscilla Queen of the Desert, it really is a fabulous show, its my favorite and is such fun!!

WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR????????????????:scared1:

I told my mom we would go to her house for Easter, although she did say she didn't mind doing Easter on a different day. Changed my mind about going into the City during the week, since there are no matinees, which means we would be getting on a bus at PA to come home around 11:15 p.m. :scared1: Thought it best to make it a weekend, although we still may come in one day to see the Harry Potter exhibit at the Discovery Center.

Oh, gotcha! What about Saturday matinee?

Yep. Seats for that too, but I figured if I go on Sunday, better chance that there will be something special at both performances. ;) You know me, I'll talk about this until that day, and then decide. I just like to hear myself talk. :rotfl:

Why do you think we liked each other?? :lmao:

P and I do that all the time, now he's talking about the Sunday matinee, but he's holding out until Thursday, he says that's when they will release the good seats

But will he be able to get Sunday matinee tickets on Thursday? I thought it was only for that day? :confused3

I've been in the gift shop for that twice now, but I still haven't seen the actual exhibit. Both times I was seeing shows (last week, before we saw AI, being the most recent) and didn't have time to go inside. I think I'm eventually going to have to take a separate trip to see that. :rotfl:

What we could see of it from the gift shop looked really cool though.

I took my daughter to see the Tut Exhibit this summer. I figure if I can't get to Universal, I'll get my Harry Potter fix in NYC.

We saw king tut in the summer and we went to the Harry Potter exhibit 2 weeks ago- it was great. You can get tickets in Costco for Harry Potter Exhibit for 24.99 including the audio guide which was great!

I don't think we have a Costco near me. :sad2: But I'm going to ask around. Thanks for the tip!

HELP! Having a serious panic attack here. I asked the other day about seeing multiple shows in a weekend. The plan is to arrive Saturday morning and catch a matinee and evening performance and then catch another matinee on Sunday.

I booked the air already but didn't do enough research beforehand. Based on what I am finding on broadwaybox.com it looks like many shows are dark on Sunday. But that isn't the worst part. I assumed the Sunday matinee would be the same time as the Saturday matinees but I was off by an hour. The Sunday shows are at 3pm and we depart LGA at 7:20pm. Will we make it to the airport in time or did I just blow it? We won't have luggage to check and we will have our boarding passes already but I just don't think we will make it. UGH! I am so mad at myself.

Many shows do not run on Sundays and yes the matinees are at 3 not 2 on sundays for the ones that do run. Most shows are about 2 hours and 45 minutes long so that would bring you up to 545- depending on city traffic (which is usually really crappy!) and then the time to get through check in at the airport I would not take that chance!

While you may have a harder time finding a show at the right time, you will definitely be able to. Most shows do play on Sundays at 3:00. Additionally, there are a few shows that have 2 shows on Sundays, which means that it is probably a 2:00 instead of a 3:00. For example, the normal heart has shows at 2:00 and 7:00 on Sundays. You could attend the 2:00 show on that day.

Just got home from seeing The Normal Heart. It was a fabulous, moving, well-acted play. And I saw Larry Kramer in the theater :)
