The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

On Sunday, he said "Winning"! :rotfl2: Did you see the videos of his dog singing while he plays the piano?

eta: Joshua Henry was not in the Sunday matinee

:rotfl: Now I'm even more excited to see the show tonight.

Yes, I love the Rocky videos! It's scary how much he's almost in tune.

Ok, so tomorrow you have to tell us everything he says!

Did you hear anything about him hurting his ribs? You know the scene where St. Jimmy 'dies" and he falls off the stairs backwards and the two guys catch him? On Sunday he walked down the stairs and gently laid on their arms. My Dh said he heard a girl in front of us way he still had his hospital bracelet on from the night before????

No, I hadn't heard anything about that...wow, that sounds scary! :scared1:

I'll definitely come back with a full report tomorrow. We're actually trying the lottery for tickets, if we have no luck there we're either doing partials or heading over to TKTS. Whichever way, we're seeing it tonight!

Look for people in the TKTS area who are handing out flyers for discounts!

Oh what the heck, do it!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Definitely! When I saw it back in February, I left work with no plans to see a show at all that night. I passed the theater on the way to the bus and figured why not? Give the lottery a shot, since it was Billie Joe's last weekend and I still hadn't seen him as St. Jimmy yet. I lost (of course), but I jumped in line for partial view tickets that weren't terrible and I had a great time. Nice spontaneous way to spend a Friday night! :thumbsup2

Oh Jen, I've done it -- twice. :rotfl: Once with Snap herself. :cool1: Just not sure if I want to see a watered down version and if my mom will like it. My 15 yo DD loved it. Can't wait for the movie to come out. Still waiting on confirmation that BJ will be playing St. Jimmy. Just hope they don't turn it into a stupid made-for-TV movie type movie.

I saw How to Succeed. Loved it! :thumbsup2

I saw the Matthew Broderick version and think he's better as J. Pierpont Finch, but Daniel does a pretty good job. Love his big dance number.

I think I will be seeing this one again.

With your MOM???? :faint::faint::faint:

I thought it was just you and PK - I change my mind. Please don't take our MOM to this :lmao: I'm telling you, go see Jersey Boys, you all will love it!

I took my mom to American Idiot tonight and she won the lottery! She was the first name they called and we sat in the front row. It was awesome! :cool1:

Billie Joe yelled "WINNING!!" at Johnny tonight which got a big laugh. Just before he made his entrance, when Johnny said he thought good guys didn't wear red, white or blue, we could hear Billie Joe yelling "GOOD GUYS...." couldn't make out the rest of it but he was screaming his head off back there until he made his entrance. :rotfl:

Also had a bit of a goof tonight...Van Hughes mike broke during Blvd of Broken Dreams and he had to use a hand held mike for almost all of the song. He looked pretty frustrated that he didn't have both hands free to play the guitar, but he did a nice job and got a nice hand from the audience.

Justin Guarini was out (yay!) and Declan Bennett was on for him, and he was really good. Joshua Henry was back as Favorite Son.

Thought the new cast was fine, although I do miss Stark Sands.

I can't believe my mom won the lottery...:woohoo:

How awesome, congrats!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 I was just wondering about you!

Love Declain, not so crazy about the new Tunny. Glad to hear Joshua is back!

My dh just went on his lunch hour and got us tickets for this Sunday, row B orchestra! He got a discount flyer and paid $89!! :yay:

That was our plan B! My mom picked up the discount flyer before we went to John's for dinner. We were planning to use it at the box office if we didn't win the lotto...but she won! Still getting over that. :woohoo:

Mom loved the show (it was her second time seeing it), and we got a picture of her with the tickets in front of the Billie Joe poster in front of the theater. She bought a t-shirt after the show, and bought me the poster. I'm going to get a frame for the poster and my Row AA ticket this weekend. :thumbsup2

Took a little getting used to the new Tunny...his voice was so much softer than Stark's. Loved Declan as Will, though, and I liked Van Hughes much more than I thought I would. He handled the busted microphone incident very nicely, and was still putting his free fingers on the chords even though he couldn't strum the guitar!

Billie Joe did the regular fall during the Death of St Jimmy scene, so I guess he's feeling better. :goodvibes

So glad you had a good time! Good to hear BJ is back to normal!

I got the poster last fall and had it framed at a place on E 40th Street:

They do a nice job - he did the double red and black border for me.

Wow, that looks great! I was actually going to use the same background for my poster...I have a giftcard from Michael's. Weekend project! :thumbsup2

That show was so great. Even sadder now that it's closing.

Can you provide the link? I couldn't find the official page. Thanks.

FYI the wonderland $37 code is for opening night and the only seats available are in the last 2 or 3 rows.

I found it by going through the official wonderland site. There's a Facebook link there.

So we saw RAIN last night, which is a tribute to the Beatles if anyone never heard of it. It was sooooo much fun. The band was awesome and genuinely very, very good musicians. If you are a Beatles fan, I wouldn't miss this!:thumbsup2
