The Broadway show thread where we discuss all things Broadway

I am a fan of the orchestra. The closer the better. But some would prefer further back, or spending less money. If you wait for TKTS, you aren't guaranteed tickets. Les Miz is my favorite show, and I've sat in the last row of the orchestra, in the middle of the orchestra, and in the mezz on the West End. I would go for the orchestra, especially since this is your first Broadway show experience!

Ok so maybe I'll go ahead and grab the deal on travelzoo and be sure we get tickets ahead of time!

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and to Broadway (never seen a show), but that will be changing in a few weeks! My husband I will be there for one night from 5/29-5/30. We will also be back in August for closer to a week, so we planning on seeing at least one more show then.

We want to see Les Miz, and there are two showings on Sunday 5/29. I think we'd prefer to see the evening show. I have done some research about buying tickets - travelzoo has a deal where I could get orchestra seats for about $67, or the cheapest would be rear mezz for $37. Having never been to a show, should I try for the orchestra? And also, would I get a better deal going to the TKTS booth the day of?
For that price, if you can swing it I'd definitely do orchestra. :)

I can't remember who mentioned Broadway Box on here (and I can't seem to find the post) but thanks! Went on there and scored tickets to The Curious Incident... for $89! Similar tix going through Telecharge without the Broadway Box savings code were twice that price! Awesome! :thanks:

Did anyone else see the new Hamilton cancellation line rules? You have to go right into the theater when you get your ticket 30 minutes before show time! You can give it to anyone else.... No more paying people to wait for you?

Did anyone get lucky last night and score tickets in the new block of tickets released for Hamilton last night? I did!!!! They released a block from the end of November 2016-January 29 2017. I got 2 seats, front mezzanine, matinee 1/29. All tickets in the entire block sold out in 25 minutes!!!!!!! It was insane. I got a text from ticketmaster at about 6:30 and was in a place where I just happened to be in a place where I could be on the computer to purchase through ticketmaster and have a few hundred extra in my savings account. I feel like I both won the lottery and was hit by lightening all at the same time!

Didn't even try. I'll wait to see who joins the cast (most originals will be gone by August) and how it holds up with new people. Also just the fact I've seen it so many times got to be fair and give others a try. ;)

I did! I got a 3rd row, center mezz seat for 1/19! It was $200 - the most i've ever spent on a ticket to a show... ever!

Im interested to see the changes in August..... Some people I think are leaving for sure others I think will stay for sure......

We managed to get tickets for January. My husband happened to be online at just the right time, saw the announcement, and pounced on it. We got $150 seats in the back but I'm just happy we have tickets. I am curious about the casting. I agree with NJLauren that I agree some of the original cast will stay and some will leave. I also hope that the current understudy for LMM will be the one who gets the role as I've heard good things about his performance.

As long as he is feeling good (he has cancer) I would expect him to stay. He took over for Lin after he left In the Heights. I also think Christopher Jackson will stay....

Oh, I didn't know about Javier's cancer diagnosis :( I hope that his treatment goes well. I think Lin and Leslie are the most likely to leave. I'm hoping that Daveed and Renee stay as well.

I was under the impression that he was in remission, hopefully true. Javi is a fantastic replacement for Lin- he was great in In the Heights! I think Daveed wants to work on his music career but maybe will stay.

Great news about the remission, if all stays will I think he will stay! I think Daveed is a wild card could go either way. I hope Leslie stays but could see him leaving.

Eta the show is doing amazing they may up significantly some salaries to keep people for a while.
