Okay, I admit it, FH and I have large heads. Mine's large for a girl and his is just plain big. I went ahead and ordered the bride/groom ears and had them sent to our house so we could test them out, but I have a feeling they won't fit. Suggestions and ideas? I'm considering making my own, but do you all have any ideas on how to get the ears to stick on a cap?

Thanks!
Rebecca

The grooms ears hat is kind of small to begin with. It was tight on Rick's head. The bridal ears headband is much more comfortable, it's available from Disneyland only.

I am getting married next weekend and going to WDW right after - I heard that very few of the guys actually fit the hat - the womens is easy since it is a beeny and you pin it on anyway.

We ordered it thru the WDW florist to have it there when we arrive - so we won't know if it fits - I went to the mall and got FH a baseball cap and had them write Just married on it - I figured if the hat doesn't fit at least he can wear the cap and then he won't get slack for not wearing anything. Although if the hat fits he is totally prepared to wear it. I also think the cap is good if you are a little more self conscious about the attention - it is there if you want but not as blantant as the top hat. JMO

The hat didn't my hubby either. He did wear a Disney groom's pin though. If you can order the headbands from Disneyland I think they are a lot easier to manage than the hats.

My wonderful fiance and I were having the same problem. He borrowed a GREAT idea from someone on the board and made our own bride groom baseball caps.

They are VERY cute!

I used hair clips to hold my bride hat on. As for dh, he was able to wear it just fine, though the hats run small.

See, I love the baseball cap idea because it also provides shade for my fair skin. :)

How did you guys attach the ears to the hat?

Hi jetgrrl!

I'm the fiancé of MyMatisse. :)

Everything was done with hot glue. And the idea was COMPLETELY ripped off from scarlett873. (With her permission of course! :) )

I went to David's Bridal, and bought the bride and groom hats. They were $13 each. Then, I went to Michael's, and in the kid's craft section, they have sheets of foam for about $.79 a sheet. I bought some white, and some black. I also bought some little cloth roses and tulle fabric for decoration.

I have some mickey ears at home, and just used them as a pattern. I cut out 12 of the ear shapes. I glued 3 layers together. (All with hot glue). I then cut a small strip of the foam, and glued it to the base of the ears. I then glued that strip directly to the hat. Here's some photos of how they turned out:

I too was worried about whether hot glue would actually work, but it did. It is VERY sturdy.

It fit my husband fine. He is a 7 1/4 or 7 3/8 hat size. I pinned the beanie on and it stayed on perfectly!

You will get tons of attention if you wear them. If you are not comfortable with tons of questions, attention, etc, then I would not suggest wearing them.

Alright, yes, they are tight and me with my melon-head ( ) it was somewhat uncofortable at times, but it was well worth it. It *did* stay on.

However, if you buy the ears, I *HIGHLY* recommend ordering them ahead of time (ebay, whatever) and attaching an elastic chin-strap of sorts. The bride ears fall off very easily (according to DW) and this was invaluable. Pictures at http://www.stuartandmelissa.com

My DH couldn't fit into the groom's hat at all (even though I bought one) and so he didn't wear them. I had the wedding ears headband and loved it! The CM's did often (well, more than often) asked my DH- Where are your ears...By the end of the trip, DH had a white shirt and on it he wrote in a black marker, "One size doesn't fit all" and had a arrow pointing to his head :) I had to laugh and alot of the CM's laughed at that too and completely understood his problem. Maybe someday they will make more than one hat size.....

The Minnie mouse bride headbands ARE at WDW too now. I was just there and I saw them for sale at a princess themed store at MGM. It was the only store I saw them in while I was there but I am sure they are elsewhere too. I did see the bride veil beanie at downtown disney and afew other stores but I was shocked to see the bride headband since I had heard you could only get them at disneyland or mouseshoppe.com and that was where my friend ordered mine from. Plus-i looked at the price tag and they were only $16 compared to the $30 online!

Those hats are cute, maybe I'll bring both so we can switch it up a bit. :) I went online to get the bridal headband, but I can't find it anymore. I hope you all are right about them having them in WDW. I had my bridal shower yesterday and I got two sets of the Mickey and Minnie personalized bride and groom shirts! :teeth: I guess now we can alternate them.

Less than a month to go.....:Pinkbounc

I tried to order the headband through Disneyland and they said they are sold out until later in June. I then called WDW merchandising and they had no idea what I was talking about. They called around to some stores in the parks and they said the only headbands they have, are pink, blue, and purple, with pink, purple, and blue veils..... Are there plain white ones?? How would I go about ordering them through the parks???

I know the pink, purple, and blue headbands you're talking about, jennilouwho...we saw them EVERYWHERE on our trip a few weeks ago...They do also have the white headbands now too though, they were in most shops right next to the pink and purple ones.

I'm going to try calling and ordering mine too...if they come up with a name or a SKU number for the white headbands, I'll definitely post it for others...

When you call, ask them to check with the shop next to the Expo Hall at Magic Kingdom. the shop is called Le Chapeau I believe. I got my bridal ears there 2 weeks ago. They have the top hot, white beanie and the headband veil.

You can then take bridal beanie and top hat to Christmas shop at DTD and they will personalize them for you. They can paint on the ears like they do the ornaments etc. You do usually have to have this done early in morning for afternoon pick up or pick up next day.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone made their own set? I'm planning on getting the headband, but I came to a stunning realization: I'm honeymooning in the summer. At the parks and on the cruise. In the summer. And I don't handle sun well. I can't imagine being out in the sun without a hat with a brim!

So, if I want Minnie ears to wear during the day I'm going to have to make them myself. I've bought a nice white straw-like hat, and will by a regular pair of ears when at Disney in December. I'll take the ears off and afix them to the hat and paint them white, then probably cover them with sequins. I want to put some silk flowers and and tulle on the hat, and maybe some pearls around the outside of the ears. That way I'll have a nice Minnie wedding HAT that I can wear out in the sun.

Anyone ever done anything like this?
