The Breakfasts Heard 'Round the World

Hi all! I'm so sorry for my delay in posts! I'm getting back into school to get my MBA and life has just been getting in the way! I'm also picking up fencing! I just started last night and my arm is kill-ing-me.

Back to the reviews! I last left you off at the most DELICIOUS ice cream/sorbets in France. Now where did we go from there?

We did travel through Japan, but we didn't eat or drink anything there... yet. So after watching the "candy lady" do her thing, we headed for Morocco.

You can see the construction on the left for the new restaurant they are putting in. I'm pretty excited about it. I've never really been interested in the other in Morocco.

We did head to a spot that was on my bucket list though.

Here we ordered the Vegetable Platter.

This had falafel which tasted just like a chicken nugget - weird... kind of good, but so weird. It also had couscous salad which I loved. My husband does not like couscous so I got all of it! Yummm!! Hummus - basic hummus. It was fine. Tabouleh which I like and my husband does not - another win for me! Lentil salad which was tasty and marinated olives (which I don't like, so finally a win for Mike!). The pita bread was alright. Overall, it was not amazing. Since it was super hot, they were handing out free cups of water which was fantastic. I didn't see this in any other country but that was a huge plus. I might go back, but there are so many other places to try.

We then headed over to America because it was time for the special Fourth of July show by the Voices of Liberty!! But before we sat down, I had to grab a special drink I was eyeing up. We headed over to the Fife and Drum Tavern.

And we ordered the American Dream. One layer of blue Icee, vanilla ice cream, and then red Icee. Perfect for the hot day! Definitely hit the spot.

We then ran into some great characters! (I just had to share!)

Next up, a quick relaxing stop in one of the most beautiful countries. :goodvibes

Next up - Italy. This MIGHT be my favorite pavilion. I can't really choose between Italy, Japan, and Canada. I just love all three!

There was a drink that my husband and I had to get while here. Here's the backstory. For our honeymoon, we went on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas on the Dream. Gorgeous. Best. Trip. Ever. We did the wine tasting and I fell absolutely in love with the Rosa Regale sparkling red wine. I knew that it was in Italy and I just wanted to relive a little bit of that wonderful time.

So obviously... I rate this wine a super A+++++!! If you hadn't guessed. ;)

Here's a bit of their wine selection.

Sooo sparkly...

Cheers! Or "Applausi!" as my google translator tells me. :rotfl2:

Next up... dinner. :thumbsup2

I KNEW you were going to say Rosa Regale!! We went to Disney for our honeymoon and got the wine tasting. I don't like reds, but I LOVED this ... bubbly and yummy. On our 5th anniversary we found a bottle of it in Boston, we'll be back this year (our 10 year was in June) so we'll have it again :)

It's definitely theeeee best! After writing that post I'm considering going out to find some, but I should wait for special occasions. Friday is a special occasion right? LOL

The vegetable platter at Tangierine Cafe is usually my first meal in WDW every year. The past 2 trips though I feel like it's not as good as it used to be. The falafel has changed, and you are exactly right when you say its's like a chicken nugget:rotfl2:

Love the character pictures, and the wine looks good! I am not a fan of super sweet wines though, is it sweet?

We love rosa regale! We got married in disney two years ago and this was what we had as our toast drink! We buy a bottle every time we go, it's delicious!

Hi everyone! I truly do apologize for not being more on top of my report. With going back to school, year end at work, and some large family things going on - I just haven't had the time... but back to the reviews!!

Onto my husband's absolute favorite restaurant now. We had never eaten in Japan but I really wanted to try out Teppan Edo, especially since I found out that they had a vegetarian option. I was totally on board!

You get a buzzer when you come in and you are free to roam around so Mike and I stood out on the balcony and people watched for a while. We didn't wait too long - you normally have to wait for the others that you will be seated with. This is similar to Biergarten in that you do sit with other families if you don't have a large party.

We were taken to a room with two grill/table things. :rotfl2: The set up was great.

Here's a picture of some of the menu options. (They also had an insert about their special - frozen beer.)

I orded the sake-rita and we both ordered waters. Sake-Rita: Sake, Grand Marnier, Orange Curacao, and Lime Juice.

WOW!! :cloud9: This drink was amazing! I think it might have been my favorite on the whole trip (other than the Rose Regale... obviously). I definitely recommend it.

In regards to that frozen beer - one of our table partners did order it. He didn't seem all too impressed with it but he wasn't as grossed out as I expected him to be. :crazy2:

We received hot towels from our waitress and she poured our "dips". The one on the right was for the meat, the one in the middle for the veggies, and the one on the left is called "yum yum" sauce and it goes on everything. :rotfl:

The chef came over and started whipping up the noodles and veggies. What a show. Seriously. It was amazing! It was funny and so impressive. I don't think anyone was having a bad time.

Onion volcano -

Served up first were the noodles with zucchini and onions. YUMMMM!! I ate them all up before I even got my entree. I could barely contain myself.

I ordered the vegetarian entree. It consisted mainly of mushrooms, broccoli, carrots, and green beans. This was also delicious and the sauce made it amazing. I primarily used the veggie sauce. I tried a bit of the meat sauce and realized quickly why it was just for meat. I also tried the "yum yum" but it just wasn't for me. The veggie was perfect for the veggies... go figure! :lmao:

My husband ordered the filet mignon. He had NEVER had filet before and was very excited about the experience he was about to have. And boy, his hopes were high and I'm pretty sure once he took a bite he couldn't even have imagined how much he liked it. He keeps saying how we need to go back and take my brother because my brother is ob.sessed. with steak.

We didn't order any desserts, because we had something else in mind for later that night. Overall we are seriously in love. The service was amazing, the show was impressive, the food was delicious... and that drink!! We are definitely making this a Teppan-must-do every trip. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

So what to get for dessert in the World Showcase... :scratchin With so many options it can be hard to choose. But I had a place on my bucket list and something specific I had read all about.

As we headed to our destination, it was around 7 at the time... we started to realize how crazy crowded EPCOT had gotten for the 4th of July. I didn't let it bother me as I arrived back in Germany.

I picked up the dark chocolate sea salt caramel and my husband got some sort of turtle looking thing.

He absolutely loved it. He devoured it in a very short amount of time. I liked mine but could only take two bites. I wrapped the rest up to save for later in the night. It was sooooo rich in flavor and plus, I was still filled from dinner.

Taking another look around outside we started walking towards Norway... glancing at the mass amounts of people already wasting their time in Disney by the lagoon with seats 4 hours before the show. There was no way I was going to sit around and wait for fireworks - c'mon guys! It's Disney! So I made a crazy decision... let's get on a bus and head for Hollywood Studios. They were also having fireworks... and a dance party! My husband was completely on board. I honestly think it was the best decision of our entire trip.

The dance party was amazing. It went back and forth between a DJ and Mulch, Sweat, and Sheers. Something I noticed and couldn't resist...

So - know this. It took forEVER to get through this drink line. I think we were in it about 40 minutes. The cast member really didn't care and was slow and inattentive. How inattentive you ask? Well, I ordered the Sparkler and got Our Lady Liberty instead. I didn't correct him, because he was switching out shifts just then and I was honestly contemplating between the two anyways... I was more annoyed that he gave me the wrong drink - and he forgot to put the foam and the flag on top. I don't know why cast members refuse to give me foam. Maybe I'm specifically targeted to not get foam in my drinks. "Oh it's that blonde girl - don't give her the foam just to mess with her." - That's clearly what they say about me. :rotfl: Either wayyyyy... here's our drinks...

My drink was tasty - sans foam. My husband wasn't really a fan of his... I tried it and I thought it was good. He's just more of a beer guy. Oh well! Now we know for next time.

I was in far too mood a care to really bother with the drink situation. I was in the happiest place with a wonderful husband and dancing like a freak to dubstep under the hat. Seriously, what could be better? Oh, the fireworks. YES. If you haven't seen fireworks at HS, you should. It was spectacular. The band played LIVE during the show and wow. Seriously - chills, you guys. I loved it. It was amazing. I cried, I smiled. Everything was so fantastic. :goodvibes In other words, if you have the chance - ditch EPCOT and MK on the fourth. The fireworks at MK were spectacular, but go to those on the third and hit up HS. ::yes::

Well, we've got one full day and a half left of reporting to cover. Thanks for sticking around! ;)

My husband and I love Teppan Edo! We also got the vegetarian dish and filet on our last trip, so it was fun to relive our experience through your review.

The 4th of July drinks look fun, but I'm sorry you once again didn't get any foam:rotfl2:

I have found over my years of trying different times to go to Tusker House, the best time is for a late breakfast around 10-10:55 AM.

We were there on 9/1/2013 at 10:55AM. We checked in and were walked straight to our table. There was only a handful of other tables with patrons eating. It was basically what I would call empty and stayed that way until around 11:35ish.

It was rather quiet. Of course the summer months this may not be the case.

We do have 6 children and we find that Tusker has the best character interaction for the most part out of all the others. It has been a must for our first day each year since we usually hit AK on our first full day at the parks.

We used to do pre-rope drop breakfasts but found that we were always rushing to get through so we could get to the rides and not have lines. I realized it is best to do a late breakfast, do rope drop, get th EE ride that 5-8 times without a line and then hit Safari and then get breakfast at Tusker House :)

Quote:
So overall, I had a good breakfast but I'm not interested in going back until we maybe have kids. The interaction with the characters were alright but a bit rushed for my liking. It was also very crowded. :crowded: Most of the food was kind of basic and nothing besides the juice, quiche, and bread pudding truly stood out. Perhaps looking back now after all of the other breakfasts we did, I just didn't see that it was worth the money. I would always recommend this character breakfast when asked which is best. I love getting into Animal Kingdom a bit earlier than the crowds and that's a huge plus for me. That... and the Jungle Juice! :goodvibes
