Hello Dis-ers! :wave2:

I usually just sit here in the shadows watching all of you write about all of this delicious food that you consume on your Disney trips. I decided that I would share my experiences with you on my upcoming trip June 30 - July 6. Now bear with me, I'm no amazing food critic... but I hope that I can share some photos (if I ever figure this out!) with you and some of my own personal thoughts on my experiences to help you guys out as much as you've helped me!

So who am I? Well my name is Mindy aka Mindylee847 here on the Dis. I have a wonderful husband who is pretty much willing to do whatever I'd like to while visiting WDW as long as he gets a dole whip and a ride on the Haunted Mansion. :goodvibes We've been together for over 10 and a half years and we're at the young age of 25 (26 on the trip!).

This is us!

Here is a list of our ADRs so you all know where this is going:
6/30 - Kona (Dinner)
7/1 - Tusker House (Breakfast) and Biergarten (Lunch/Dinner)
7/2 - Kouzzina (Breakfast) and Hoop Dee Doo Revue (Dinner)
7/3 - Kona (Breakfast) and Tomorrowland Dessert Party
7/4 - Captain's Grille (Breakfast) and Teppan Edo (Lunch)
7/5 - Olivia's (Breakfast) and Sanaa (Dinner)
7/6 - Grand Floridian Cafe (Breakfast)

We are obviously having a lot of delicious breakfast!

On our list for some over the counters are:
Columbia Harbour House
Cosmic Ray's
Tangerine Cafe
Everything POP!

On our list for some snacks are:
Sleepy Hollow
Aloha Isle
EPCOT bakery goods from France, Germany, Norway

So here it goes! My first ever food report!

You've got some great meals planned!! Kona breakfast is my FAVE!!!

That's the one my DH is most excited about! He wanted me to book it every morning, but I want to get out there and try others! Funny thing is, we haven't even tried Kona yet!

I forgot to mention that I am basically a vegetarian - by that, I mean that I don't care for the textures of most meat. I'll probably be leaning more towards other foods for any of you out there that are trying more meatless diets or are vegetarians too. :)

My husband likes salmon and pork - a lot. He also loves dole whip, as made obvious by my first post. The only thing he doesn't reallllly like is onions.

I'm so excited to get this going! 40 days to go, guys!!

Oooooo, looking forward to your report -- it's Breakfast Fest 2013!

I've not had breakfast at Kona either and think I could go a few times on our trip too, lol. Looks so good!

Great start! :thumbsup2 I'll be reading! From the sounds of your reservations and diet preferences, I think I'll see lots of the foods I like.

Thanks for joining in! All those pictures of the Tonga Toast I've seen have me drooling at my screen! That and the coffee press!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for stopping by! I sure hope I can provide some great pictures and suggestions for you! ;)

So guess who changed around some of their dining reservations? :wave2:

I just couldn't help myself! I had been reviewing the dinner menu for Kona multiple times. I just couldn't find anything that I truly desired other than requesting the bread pudding from O'hana for dessert! :confused3

I didn't want to change the ADR though because my husband, for some reason... with never eating there before, refused to change it. I read him off the menu last night and he finally agreed to a change. So what did I do?

I bumped our ADR for Biergarten up to our arrival day to 2:50 PM. This should give us plenty of time to check in to our resort and hustle our butts over for a big lunch/dinner! What's better than starting your vacation off with a liter of beer? Nothing. Nothing is the correct answer. :drinking1

So what did I do then in place of Biergarten? Well instead of running around to THREE parks on Monday, I bumped Sanaa up to Monday at about 3 PM. This way we can head straight from Animal Kingdom to AKL. Perfect plan!

So that leaves Friday wide open... as of right now, I haven't booked anything. I know we are planning to spend the whole day in Magic Kingdom. My husband is thinking of just wingin' it. I don't know if I feel comfortable doing that during Fourth of July weekend... seems risky. :scratchin

I looked to see if there was anything open around 4 PM/5 PM in Magic Kingdom, and of course... it was just Tony's and The Plaza. Now, don't get me wrong. Great options. But I actually am not a fan of tomato sauce so I don't generally go for Italian, especially on vacation. And The Plaza, well... I've never been so I can't truly give a reason why I don't want to go there. I just would have preferred Liberty Tree Tavern or obviously Be Our Guest - but we all know how that story goes! Especially with less than 30 days to go to our trip! :rotfl2:

So for right now... I'll just sit back and mull it over. Perhaps we'll leave the park for a while and hit a MK area resort for dinner. I've never been to the Wilderness Lodge so I'm tempted to give Whispering Canyon a try. Feel free to suggest anything, but keep in mind that I've changed my reservations around at least 50 times now!

If we do book anything, you readers will be the first to know! :cool2:

I think your changes look good :)

If you have an ADR in the MK and the park gets closed for capacity before you get there, will you be let in for it? I really don't know, but I wanted to ask in case you have your heart set on MK for the 4th and you don't plan on arriving until after lunch at Epcot. It might be worth taking that Plaza ressie if it works like that. You could always just order sundaes if nothing else appeals to you and grab dinner later at a CS. And of course you could continue to look for something at LTT or BOG and switch if something opens :)

I agree. Besides, the sundaes at the Plaza are actually pretty darned yummy. :)

Looking forward to reading about your culinary adventures! ;)

Luckily we're hitting MK for their Fourth of July fireworks on the third. We plan to steer clear of there on the actual day and celebrate in EPCOT with an American Dream and Illuminations. Since we don't have kids, we plan on just fully experiencing World Showcase that day... just eating, drinking, and relaxing around the world!

I'm worried about the 5th though, I'm assuming that Friday might get pretty hectic since it's a holiday weekend and we plan to be in MK that day. My husband really wants to just wing it that day and leave it open in case there's anything we missed. So... I suppose that's what we will do! You can live one day on just Mickey Premium Bars... can't you? ;)

Got it! I misread your post and thought you were looking for dinner on the 4th :goodvibes

I have been going down for the 4th for a few years. Since there really isn't any place good to eat in the magic kingdom and I am not a fan of Tony's we usually will eat in one the hotels on the monorail line and then just swing over to the magic kingdom. I would definitely make reservations for those days since walk in might not work due to the crowds. I'm going to be there from the 2nd to the 8th and have made my reservations. You can always change or cancel but it's good to know you have somewhere to go.

Yeah I think we will make a reservation for Whispering Canyon, LTT, or The Wave. I'm not sure we will go - but better to have a reservation than none! I had a feeling that week gets super packed! ;)

Hi! We will both be in the MK on July 3rd! I am so excited for this trip but nervous for the crowds!

Yeah the crowds have me a bit freaked out too! We usually go in January, but I have gone in July once before... I remember being hot but so happy to be there! :) Hopefully it will be a similar experience to that.

I'm jumping on the "freaked out about crowds" bandwagon. We are arriving on the 7th so I'm hoping that everyone that came for the holiday goes home that day since it's a Sunday. (Yeah, right:rotfl2:)

We usually go in September but since I am in the nursing program now, that means no more taking days off from school (booo...). Anyways, I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us and hope for short lines lol!
