~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Hello Everyone: I wanted to check in with my BOT friends and say hi! I had one crazy week last week, home, work, and other stuff were all incredibly busy. Maggie, DD11 princess: , had two band concerts during the week, and I had an interview for the DIS Unplugged with the Imagineers that created Toy Story Mania. One night I dropped Maggie off for her band concert, went upstairs in the school, sat on the floor, and waited for Imagineering to call me. I chat for about 30 minutes with the Imagineers (who were very cool by the way), hung up the phone, and ran downstairs for Maggie's concert. I got there just as they were warming up.

Anyhow, I got a couple of runs in, and got all the Christmas decorations up too. I finally decided that I'm not going to run any races during marathon weekend. I'll be down there leading my alternative break trip to GKTW, but I'm just in no shape to run a race. I could maybe do a half marathon, but with everything going on, something just had to give. I'd love to meet up with people, and maybe we could meet at the expo or something since I won't have park tickets. Or, I could just call you from the EPCOT parking lot while you're all at Biergarten.

The family and I are heading down to Disney on Thursday for the "DIS-a-palooza" weekend for the DIS Unplugged. It's going to be a busy weekend, but we have some fun things planned.

I'm looking forward to seeing Matt and Cindy down at the Toy Story Mania Party.

Jodi- I got my lottery application in for the NYC half marathon in March. I'm actually excited about it, and I hope we both get in. It'd really be fun to run in NYC.

Hi to everyone, and I'll see you all on FB. Well, except Mike, but I'll talk to Kathy.

Hi BOTS!!!!

I haven't had time to check in because my 16 year old son, Andrew, has been monopolizing the computer with a psych project (yesterday) and a paper (today). I managed to get on at 11:30 pm tonight. Way too late! Checking in from work hasn't been possible either... too much catching up to do, we have a new VP (my new supervisor) that started this week and things are hectic.

To keep things short, the cruise was fabulous! The weather couldn't have been better from the day we got on the Magic until when we got off. Temps were in the high 70's and low 80's in Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel and on Castaway Cay. I learned the finer points of Tequila tasting with Charlie on board and also at Carlos & Charlies and Senor Frogs in Cozumel. :rolleyes1

I managed to run three times on the ship (13 laps x .33 = 4.29 miles x 3 = 12.87 miles) and also ran the Castaway Cay 5K on Saturday morning at 9 AM. It was steamy and hot as you'd expect. I think we had about 26 runners, a large group I'm told.

Lou~ Be careful out there in the South Jersey woods. I'm glad you called the ploice to report that. Blood is not a good thing...nor is running without your phone. I just started running with mine recently since I upgraded to an iphone and can listen to music on there also.

Chester~ I wanted to officially congratulate you on your efforts in Las Vegas and wish you continued success with #10 in Hawaii.

I managed to get to the gym tonight and ran 3 miles on the treadmill, did 3 miles on the elliptical and lifted weights for a while. I am trying to keep up with a training plan for the WDW Marathon, but not doing well at all. I know I gained some weight on the cruise... the food was so good and too plentyful. :sad2: I am trying to make up for it in the next 30 days.

Oh yes, I got my assignment for the WDW Half Marathon for which I am volunteering. I will be working in the GOOFY tent during the half, probably switching wristbands. That means I'll be able to see some of you for sure.:yay::woohoo::thumbsup2

Have a great Wednesday!!!!

Good Morning Bots.

Howard: Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Good for you for running so often. I'm sure you will drop the weight you found in no time. Loved the picture from FB of your tree. There are so many lights, where will you fit all the ornaments?

Dave: Have a safe and fun trip to WDW. Hope you are able to get out of snowy NY tomorrow. You are probably making a wise decision in not running a race you haven't trained properly for. Maybe you can come out and cheer for all of us instead. I loved your FB Christmas decoration photos too.

Mike: Hope all went well with your DD's doctor's appt. Have you been running much?

Lou: Very strange story about the bloody jogger. My DH makes me bring my phone with me. I don't like to carry something extra, but having to listen to him yell at me if anything happened and I needed it isn't worth it. Sorry it cut your run short. There's still plenty of time to get that 20 miler in. I think I'm going to settle for an 18 miler on Dec 28th then taper from there. I haven't done a 2 week taper before, but there's no way I can find 3 hrs to run the weekend before Christmas.

Jodi: I didn't get a Ragnar Relay flier. I'm still mildly interested in doing a relay.

Chester: Hope you had a good time in Vegas.

Jen, Colleen, Megan, Sara: Hope all is well.

I ran 14 on Monday. The first 10 were great, the last 4 were a bit of a struggle. I'm going to miss my run today since it's snowing/raining too much for me to run outside. I feel so wimpy just typing that, but there it is. I won't find time for the TM tonight since my DS has lacrosse and soccer tonight then we have to pick my car up from the shop. I'm really starting to feel the time crunch with all the Holiday tasks on my list in addition to all the daily stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to get speedwork in on Friday then b2b on Sunday/Monday.
Have a great day Everyone.

Cindy - I have an iPhone with an armband and, although I don't like to wear headphones anymore, it is easy to just strap it on so that I have a means to make a call if necessary. I just think you can never be too safe these days. I love your training plan and think I may adopt the same strategy. I really could care less about times at WDW but don't want to show up there unprepared. A 20-miler after Christmas would be a lot easier for me to schedule and I think I could recover with no problem.

Hey CindyLou, unless something unexpected happens, I definitely plan on coming out and cheering you all on. I was going to "cover" the races for the DIS Unplugged, and I thought I would cover them from the perspective of my BOT friends running it.

Oh, I also plan on writing a blog between Christmas and Marathon weekend regarding my experience with the half marathon last year. I want to put the audio on it that I recorded as I was running the half marathon. There's lots of Bots in that segment that never got played on the show.

Hey BOTs,

Had a great time in Vegas.

The Santa Run was a blast. I was supposed to be a 5k, but was about a half mile short by Garmin reckoning. I posted some pictures on Facebook. It was really crowded and would be really frustrating to someone who was really trying to run hard. There were lots of strollers and lots of dogs too. Everywhere you looked, there was a red sea of Santa suits. No medals or t-shirts, but you did get to keep a keen Santa suit.

The Las Vegas Marathon went well. The weather was really cold (36 degrees) when the race started and realy didn't get much warmer. I started out wearing shorts and a W.I.S.H. singlet over a ls t-shirt. I handed the t-shirt to Tracy at the 2.5 mile mark. It was really cold in the shade of Las Vegas Boulevard.

The course was really flat and the weather made for easy going. I ran it as I would a training run since I knew that I would be running Honolulu in a week. My only real disapointment came at about 6 miles where I had to wait 10 minutes for a port-o-let and at the 25th mile when it feal like I was running in slow motion. I just couldn't move faser than a very, very slow jog. It wasn't until the finish line was in sight that I was able to increase my velocity.

More later, got to get ready to go to the Honolulu expo.

Drive by:

My childcare is booked for Marathon Weekend!!:cool1::cool1:

With the benefits you were offering I couldn't refuse! I'll take good care of the kid while you're gone....wait, how many kids is it?

Mike: Hope all went well with your DD's doctor's appt. Have you been running much?
Cindy - DD is officially not allergic to peanuts anymore! Bring on the Chinese food!

It's been tough squeezing in all the runs and I've missed a few. I've done almost no speedwork since Richmond but just finished my 2nd 20 miler in 7 days (last week's went better ) so I guess that's something.

This holiday business is for the birds. Damn right! Bah, humbug.

Bah to all of you Humbugs!!! Although I agree it is tough to find time for everything. I did manage an 18 mile run Tuesday that went fairly well and hope to squeeze in a 20 miler next week before we are invaded by house guests.

Howard: I'm glad you guys had fun on the cruise. It sounds awesome. I look forward to seeing you at the Goofy tent.

Chester: I loved the Santa run pictures, it looks like a fun event. Your posts from Hawaii are making me jealous-- I hope you have an awesome race!

Mike: Congrats on the non-peanut allergic kid-- now you can leave chips and peanut butter cups for the kids

Dave: Have fun at DISapalooza, ride Toy Story a bunch for me!

Ola Bots!!! (That's Espanol :thumbsup2)

I am Bib# 5423 for the WDW Marathon based on the waiver I printed off today. I am not sure what corral that puts me in, I assume there's a chart on some thread here somewhere for me to reference that. :rolleyes1

For the third night in a row, I motivated myself to go to the gym to workout. I ran 3 miles on the dreadmill, completed 3 miles on the elliptical crosstrainer and did a vigorous free weight workout. It was extra tough today because we had out departmental holiday luncheon and my Director's Holiday get together after work. I guess the workout chipped away at any calories I took in, but didn't come close to covering them. :sad2:

I have more planned for tomorrow night. I simply hate the treadmill and what it does to my legs (shin splints). I've found that if I slow it down a bit the impact lessens and I can avoid the pain (for the most part).

TGIF Everyone!!!!!

Hi Guys:love:

Not sure where to start or if this is even appropriate for a non-PM post but here it goes...

I won't be at WDW and it seems I have a valid reason, other than lack of motivation:rotfl2: Not looking for sadness, worry, pity or any other energy drain non-productive thoughts. I have a 4.7 cm tumor on the right side of my neck they're pretty sure is cancerous:sad2: Having a CT scan today and a biopsy on the 21st. For those of you who know the severe stress I've been under for the past 7 months, I truly believe it's been a large contributor to my current illness.

This is simply a shameless plug for prayer and I'd appreciate any you could offer:hug:. I'll keep you updated as I'm able and know I trust this will all go as it should:thumbsup2. Please put in some miles for me and I'm all yoga and meditation for the time being:hippie:

I've never been shy about vocalizing my love for y'all so thanks again for always inspiring me and for touching my life:grouphug:. God always gives us what we need and WISH'ers have always been a precious gift and a blessing. I'm still going to try to catch up on the thread and I'm always over of FB.

:grouphug:Wow, Sara, that's rough. Glad you posted it here, though. Please let us know how the CT goes. Like there isn't enough stress with the holidays?:sad2:. How long will it take to get the results from the biopsy on the 21st? I'm sorry you won't be @ WDW, but you get a pass ;). You'll be in my thoughts constantly . Good vibes all the way :goodvibes.

Sara: just wanted to send a little  thinking of you and hoping for good biopsy results

Sarah....:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: I will be thinking of you and sending prayers, pixie dust, good wishes, whatever I can think of. Hopefully, you will deal with this and when all is said and done, be better than new! Keep us posted, please.

Sara,:hug:lots of positive thoughts your way. Please let us know your results. You are one tough chick, I know you will be kicking this thing's a**!

Sara - I will come out of lurking on this thread now. I am shocked as I am sure you are. Lynnda and I will keep you in our prayers. I hope the results of the scan and biopsy are good.

Bill

Sara - Will also come out of lurkdom to send many positive thought and prayers your way. Your WISH family is always here! Keep us posted on the FB side. :grouphug:

Jackie

Sara - Lots of thoughts, prayers, and positive energy coming your way. Please keep us updated.

Geeze, if I knew so many people were lurking I would have insisted that Jodi behaved more appropriately!
