~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Chester - When do you leave for your trip? Have a great time in Vegas/Hawaii!!!

Yeah, when do you leave??? Sounds like such a blast...If it weren't for all the running carp it'd be the perfect vacation!

Lou - I suppose I get the whole hunting deer if you're going to eat them, overpopulation, they'll starve anyway-thing. But must we leave the guts in the path of runners? What a nim-wit. How are the post marathon(s) blues coming along?

Mindy - Totally jealous of your trip to the Stone Brewery. You guys have to try an ale called Mokah Stout by Southern-Tier Brewery. It's sooooo good! How's the 50mile training thing goin? I'll have to try the Aarogant Ale...not much for IPAs, though.

Colleen - How's the quiet Canadian doin'? Don't you miss our awesome weekend in NYC? :sad2:.

Kathy - You need to keep your man in line!. So have you picked out a marathon for us in '10 yet or WHAT? Times a tickin'.

CindyLounatic - That's the one I was thinking about...it was actually fun?? Sounds cold & windy. I'll have to think about that one - ru doing it again next year?

Ooops, gottat go help Spencer with a project, more later.

Chester- Thanks for pictures there Marlin Perkins. Now a word from Mutual of Omaha.

Good luck and have fun this weekend. Don't do anything any self-respecting person with no fear of social diseases wouldn't do.

:wave2: to everyone else. All this beer talk is making me thirsty!

Good Morning Bots.

Chester: Best of luck and safe travels. Yuck on the first picture. The rest were pretty cool.

Jodi: Yes, the race was great. Small but very fun expo. I met both Frank Shorter and Bill Rodgers. Nice little pre-race pasta dinner. The race director is a hoot. He's sends out several very amusing emails prior to the race. He brings his beagle Buddy to all the races. The course is very pretty. It was a bit rainy and windy last year, but not miserable. I'd love to do the half this year, but not certain the DH would go for spending the money so close on the heels of Disney. Maybe if I made it a day trip. hmmmmm...

Lou: Sorry about the lack of motivation. As long as you have reasonable expectations for January, I'm sure you'll be fine. It might hurt a little less then if you do a bit of training over the next 5 1/2 weeks.

Howard: Hope you had a fabulous trip.

Colleen: And Tiger? Trainwreck!!

I got out for a 5 mile tempo run yesterday. I felt pretty good following the b2b. My knees were a bit achy. I need to start taking the glucosamine chrondroitin, but always seem to forget it.

Hope all the Bots are having a great day.

Cindy

Holy Moly Chester, those pics are crazy!:confused3 Is that a neighbor that has a giraffe in their back yard?

Colleen
Sort of a neighbor. We live at the fringes of rural area. Here is an aerial of my run:

12milemap.jpg

Chester - What is UP with the dead doves & shotgun shells? That's heinous...those people should be shot!

Jodi
You just never know with rednecks. I have no idea why they were dumped and why they were dumped on a sidewalk. As far as I know, doves were still in season.

Chester - Awesome pics! I need to run with my camera phone so I can snap shots like that on the trail through the wildlife management area near my house. Last week I had to jump over some deer guts that some hunter decide to deposit on the trail. Jodi would have loved that picture. I'm looking forward to hearing about your back to back cross country marathons.

Lou
I've started a file to put pictures of stuff I find while on a run. I typically don't take a camera with me, but because Sunday was a long run and I needed to carry water anyway, I decided to give it a try.

Chester - When do you leave for your trip? Have a great time in Vegas/Hawaii!!!

Cindy
We leave Tomorrow afternoon. I just printed out my boarding passes. I should be checking in occasionally and posting pictures. We're taking the laptop that I got on Black Friday.

Yeah, when do you leave??? Sounds like such a blast...If it weren't for all the running carp it'd be the perfect vacation!

Jodi
See above. We return on the 16th and then head to WDW for the weekend.

Chester- Thanks for pictures there Marlin Perkins. Now a word from Mutual of Omaha.

Good luck and have fun this weekend. Don't do anything any self-respecting person with no fear of social diseases wouldn't do.

Mike
Thanks for the advice!!!

I hear Tiger knows his way around Vegas!

Colleen
It sounds like Mike may know a little about Vegas too!!:rolleyes1

Chester: Best of luck and safe travels. Yuck on the first picture. The rest were pretty cool.

Cindylou
Thanks. I plan on running the Vegas race like a training run and then see how I feel for Honolulu. During the Honolulu I'll probably just cruise since I don't want to jeopardize Goofy 4 weeks later. Although, I should be very overtrained for Goofy since we will be going at my daughter's pace.

Saturday morning I'm going to participate in the Vegas Santa Run. It's a 5k and all entrants are given a Santa suit to run in. They are trying to break the World record for running Santa's.

So what is our Fall race going to be? I plan on signing up for New Orleans at the Vegas Expo.

Is the Cruise a February Jodi cruise or are we doing a late Summer cruise?

Later BOTs.

Chester

Ohhhh no! You ain't suckerin' me into organizing this thing! I've tried to organize a relay run & we all know how that has gone.

Chester - Have fun on your travels!! Tooo jealous :cutie:! As far as the cruise, I'm all booked for the Feb. thing...I would sign up for THAT one with ME!!. You know those other clowns :clown: won't get their poop together for that late summer one :rolleyes1.

Lou - I suppose I get the whole hunting deer if you're going to eat them, overpopulation, they'll starve anyway-thing. But must we leave the guts in the path of runners? What a nim-wit. How are the post marathon(s) blues coming along?
Jodi - Yes, it's one thing dodging the horse poop that is dropped on the trail here and there but the deer guts were a little much. At times it sounds like Iraq behind my house with all the gun shots. These hunters will basically corral the deer into another group of hunters and blast away...some sport. I did read that 3 hunters died in NJ this season (2 from gun shots and 1 fell out of a tree) so the animals got some revenge.

Chester - Get nuts in Vegas this weekend!

CindyLou - Expectations will be low for WDW. If I could have I would have bagged this trip but I do look forward to hanging out with everyone. The after party at the Biergarten will be worth the trip alone.

Exhausting week...work related. Despite the good weather I have managed only 2 runs this week. Looking to go for a decent (12-15 mile LR) on Sunday. Saturday is supposed to be heinous (rain/sleet/snow), to use a Jodiism.

Lou

Chester: I need pictures of the Santa run-- sounds like fun. Have a great trip!

No much going on here. Trying to get my runs in and keep up with holiday craziness. Our weekends are pretty books from now until Christmas, so I'm trying to get ahead.

Hey BOTs - I need to run something by you...

Bit of a freaky running experience for me today. I went out for what was supposed to be a 12+ mile run around 11AM along the bike trail and into the wildlife management area (despite the gun shots from hunters I hear). I decide to run without a cell phone (plot point). About 3.5 miles into the run I see what looks like a jogger run across the trail in the distance and then head down a connecting road. He had come out of the wildlife area. He must have seen my bright yellow shirt because he doubled back down the trail and came towards me.

As the guy approached me I noticed a bright red stain on his chest that looked a lot like blood. He was a young kid/guy 17-19 years old and was wearing black shorts and a white t-shirt and gloves (looked like a jogger) on a cold day. Sure enough he stops me on the trail and asks me if I know which way is Rowan University. His was slurring his words and his eyes looked real glassy, almost as if he was drugged up or got punched in the head. I looked him over real good and noticed that the stain was blood as I could see what looked like a scrape on his collar bone the went down his shirt. Before I answered him I asked him if he was alright and pointed to the blood on his shirt. He gave me this weird look, almost as if he was afraid of something and kind of looked like he was ready to hit me although I was about 5 inches and 40 lbs bigger so I think he thought twice. I could just tell that he didn't want to spend any time making small talk with me.

As soon as I pointed down the path and told him Rowan was that way he took off jogging. As he ran away I could see mud up the back of his shirt, almost as if he had fallen down a hill. I contemplated following him but had no cell phone and was worried I would get too far into the woods to be alone with him. I decided instead to cut the run short and ran home which was 3 miles away. Got home and called the local police to let them know the guy was on the trail and may be on his way to the college. I got a call back but the police couldn't find him.

Moral of this story...that was the last time I run without a cell phone. BOTs...pack a cell phone on your LRs and even regular runs.

Lou

Holy carp, Lou!!! That's bizzare! You definitely make me think twice about running without a phone! I'm glad you're OK & nothing happened. What a weird thing....Be carefuly out there, BOTS

Wondering how Chester made out?

Lou: That is really strange. I think you did the right thing calling the police even if they didn't find the guy. Following him would have been a mistake-- who knows what was on his mind. The story just makes me like my TM a bit more.

Wow! That was a freaky thing to find on a run. I personally always run with my phone because it has the camera on it. Good reminder though!

Anyone else get those Ragnar Relay fliers in the mail this weekend???:rolleyes1popcorn::...Come ON already, BOTS, let's pick one out (Kathy) & load up the vans!!!!

It was very strange. It just stinks because I kind of wish I knew what exactly happened but don't think I'll find out. I want to know if this guy did something to someone or if he was the one that was being chased. Just not the kind of thing you expect to see on your LR but next time I'll have a phone.

Chester - Great job on the Vegas marathon!

So, my LR yesterday was cut short because of a bloody jogger. Didn't run today. Need to find time to get in a 20-miler so that I am a little prepared for Goofy. Did get to see the Christmas Carol in 3D on Saturday in A.C. at the iMax. Pretty cool movie...felt like you were riding Soarin for 2 hours!

Lou

Lou - Pretty creepy experience.

Well, we are currently sitting in an exam room at Johns Hopkins for a peanut food challenge for DD6. The $1000 bag of Reese's Pieces will be coming soon!

Wish us luck.
