We've never been to the boneyard and I'm not sure what to expect. It seems like a fun area for digging in the "sand." Can you bring a bucker or shovel? Is there actually room for the kids to play like that or is it too crowded? We are going in September. TIA

The boneyard is a large playground, several slides and a large sandbox. Yes, you can bring your own shovels and buckets. It really quite a large area.

We go every year in September and it is never crowded. Its nice because there is only one way to get in and out. We always sit by the entrance/exit and are able to relax for a few minutes while the kids play without feeling like we have to follow them around.

The dig area is pretty fun. DS loves to dig in the "sand" (it's not really sand, moreso the gravel you put in a fish tank!!). They have some buckets and shovels set out for the kids to use (or at least they have the last few times we were there!!!) The slides are fun too, but too crazy at times for our DS (he's not quite 2!)

You don't need to bring a shovel and bucket.

As the PP said its not a sand box but a gravel pit where you can pretend to uncover dinosaur bones. So it has shovels and brushes like an Paleontologist would use.

the sand is really more gravel-ly (is that even a word? :rotfl:). it is a pretty neat playground and my kids love it. lots of space to run and climb...

You know what's funny? I don't even remember the sand/gravel part! I remember the slides. Of course, my little guy was pretty little when we were last there. He had a blast though!

Just to be clear the the "sand" is a sort of special fine smooth gravel that they get from somewhere like I think Michigan. Its around the size of say grains of rice.

This means it won't stick to clothes and it drains when it rains.

we could not even find it the first year we went. last year we found it accross the bridge. my 3 year olds loved it

Does anyone know if you can bring strollers inside? My boys love it here, and I was thinking maybe they could play in there while my DD naps in her stroller and we use Rider Swap for EE and KRR.

It's probably way bigger than we experienced. Since he was so young, we basically hung out near the entrance by the little slides. I have no recollection of a bridge even.

I do believe you have to park your strollers outside.

There’s a huge jungle gym with slides, ladders, and stairs along with a sand box.

Be aware that there is a bridge behind the jungle gym to access the sand box area which is not easily visible. I “lost” my DD4.5 because I didn’t realize that there was a sand box section and went into a little panic until I talked to a CM that directed me to that area. I found her happily digging in the sand in that section. There is only the bridge to get in and out of this sand box area. The area is all contained by a fence with one entrance/exit next to the jungle gym.

DD had a great time there!

Strollers do have to be parked outside.

The Boneyard has been a consistent favorite for my kids as each of them hits that age where play areas are big. This is definitely a great place to go and let the little ones run out some energy, and let everyone else regroup and relax for a bit.

The Boneyard has always been one of my kids' favorite attractions. I'm a little sad that they're outgrowing it. We went last year when they were 10 and they still enjoyed it, but I could tell there probably aren't many (if any) trips back in our future.

Plan on staying awhile. It's hard to get kids out of there!
