The Boathouse... Can't get a reservation?

We were at The Boathose for lunch and told our waiter that we stopped in for lunch because we couldn't get a reservation for dinner using the Disney Dining Reservation website. He told us that they only give a limited amount of reservations to Disney. He said if you can't get a reservation from Disney, try OpenTable or call the restaurant directly.

At the end of our meal, we stopped at checkin desk, and they set us up with 7pm dinner reservations for our next visits in December and February.

I walk into just about anywhere I want and usually after a short wait have a seat. A lot of people don't show or are really late and they would rather have to fit them in if they arrive then have a table empty and a no show. Great tips on calling them direct, I'll have to use that one when we're traveling somewhere out of our way and hoping to walk in.

Do you know if you can use DDP credits if you reserve through Open Table instead of Disney?

Yes they do. They take DDP credits no matter how you make the reservation.

Yep, I got my reservation through OpenTable because the Disney system kept showing zero availability.

Glad to know they keep some ressies for OpenTable or calling the restaurant. We don't have any free meals for another reservation, so this is on our to-do list on our next trip after this trip to WDW.

Many of the the DTD Springs restaurants retain most of their reservation spots. We always call to reserve.

I am assuming it's the non-TDO Run venues that can take reservations by OpenTable?

I have not tried them all. (I started going direct 10-12 years ago starting with RainForest Cafe to reduce the long waits in summer.) Some I know that are available:

Crossroads House of Blues
Bongos
Paradiso 37
Raglan Road
The afore mentioned Boat House

I think for RainForest and T-Rex you have to call the restaurant.
