The Black Pearl/Castaway Cay

Wondering if the Black Pearl is back at Castaway Cay yet. Has anyone seen it there recently? Thank you.

It wasn't built to withstand the elements, so after it was weatherbeaten, it was torn apart. They'd have to rebuild it. Haven't heard of that happening.

Awww I'm sad about that. Will they be building a new one for the next PoC Movie then?

The Flying Dutchman was at Castaway Cay.

We saw the Black Pearl when it was docked at the harbor near Aulani.

There's actually a thread on here somewhere of it! People uploaded pics and all!

Thank you! Sooooo, will any PoC ship return to Castaway Cay in the future? Loved seeing it there. Really added to the "authenticity" of the island.

There was some talk of the Black Pearl being sent to CC. Unlike the flying Dutchman which was a movie prop, the Black Pearl is a real sailing ship, redone for the movie.

However I doubt she is in good enough condition for a pacific crossing. The cost to load her on the cargo ship to bring her to CC would be quite expensive.

But you never know!;)

We were on the Fantasy 3/23-30, and one of the mates on our catamaran excursion to St. John told us that the Black Pearl had recently been in St. Thomas. She said that filming for the next PotC sequel was in progress and that Johnny Depp had been seen around town. Here is an article discussing transport of the ship from Hawaii to St. Thomas.

I wish they would put a ship back at CC. She just looks like she belongs there.

The Sunset which was the Pearl which is now the Queen Anne's Revenge was in Mexico prior to Stranger Tides. Anything is possible since she has diesel engines in her hull. I think that the studio is going to hold on to her a while longer as she seems to have a spot in the new movies that are being made. Eventually I wouldn't be surprised if she turns up in CC.

Now that the Black Pearl is in the Bahamas, it is more possible it could end up at CC, when the movie is finished! That is how the Flying Dutchman got there!

After the last POC was finished Disney's movie people left the Flying Dutchman in Freeport, tied up.

DCL was looking for something in the bay at CC and heard it was there. They called the movies folks and asked if there were any plans for the movie prop. There were apparently not any plans and it was offered to DCL.

DCL had it towed and set in sand in the bay at CC.

So, Mateys, keep your eyes open!. If a dark hull appears, sailing over the horizon, you may want to set your guns and keep your powder dry,as there maybe be pirates about CC!:goodvibes

Hey there Truck!

True, but she still needed to be carried from Hawaii to the coast as the picture showed.........she likely would not have the fuel capacity to cruise under power the distance, not to mention with all the rigging and upper hull built up on the smaller oil field supply boat, her stability is likely not what it should be.

Whoo Hoo!

Well the St Thomas news is exciting. We saw the Black Pearl last summer in Hawaii, so maybe we will get to see her again this summer in STT. Just call us Black Pearl stalkers!

I wonder when the current PoC finishes filming. Maybe that will lend a clue as to when we might see her at CC?

True. I honestly don't know how they have her configured or her cog.
