Every year I do this... plan a spring break vacation and then go like mad until we leave to get as much accomplished in the gardens and outside as I can... so I dont' come home to a weedy mess that makes me even MORE DEPRESSED that the vacation is over with. :p

So I work like the devil so I can go relax! :teeth:

The flower beds are all weeded and cultivated with the exception of the patio garden - which was done about 3 weeks ago... so it can wait for a "touch up". This includes the main flower garden and the side ones around the house. The vegetable garden is rototilled, and the onions, spinach, lettuce, and tomatoes (in wall of water protectors) are planted. I also planted out 10 canes of Heritage raspberries in the back section of the garden. The strawberry patch has received it's first weeding and fertilizer. In general, I spent several days taking care of the overall landscaping as well. DH dethatched the lawn on Thursday and fertilized and watered it on Friday. Dragged our riding arena to knock down the emerging weed growth... (have to do this every other week or it get's out of control). And finally, I finished the pruning of the roses and "hair cuts" for the russian sage plants that are in the walkway garden. Not to mention the "flame thrower" weed killing in the various walkways themselves. :)

Okay. I am exhausted.... I need a vacation. OH THAT"S RIGHT!!! I AM GOING ON VACATION! LOL!

Enjoy your vacation, Laura!

We had a few warm, balmy days here last week but it's been wet and cold since then....totally depressing. No gardening for me!

Have a wonderful time, take lots of pics to show us!

What a great feeling to have all that accomplished before your vacation, Laura! :)

You have been very busy, you deserve a break. :)

"Dragged our riding arena to knock down the emerging weed growth"
Do you mean that you actually take a section of ....fencing ?....and drag it around?

You should be in the "Calgon take me away" commercial. WOW!!!

I got tired just reading your post! You have been VEEEEERY busy! :)

ENJOY your vacation. You deserve it!!!

Kim - the arena is "dragged" using my small tractor and a tine harrow drag behind it. Some people actually do use a section of chain link fence with a bit of weight on it. Mine kind of looks like that... but has sharp spikes that point down into the soil ... which creates mini furrows when you drag it behind you.

Just got home from vacation. The lawn needs mowing and is GREEN and lush. The bulbs are blooming LIKE crazy and the roses are all leafed out. :)

The spinach has sprouted too! :teeth:

I hope the weeds weren't greeting you! Welcome Home.....:D

Welcome back, Dixie! :)

I hope you had a very relaxing trip because it sounds like you have some work to do! ;) :)

Oh, I love spinach...yum!

I hope you'll post some pics of your bloomers for us. :smooth:

LOL! DixieDee - Glad to hear you were able to get away for a little R&R. Hope you had a great time. Sounds like a nice incentive prior to leaving to get those chores done. Welcome back.
