The big G+ rides at HS gone by 1:07!

I wonder if the new system its best for familys who plan on going to the parks after 2pm. you can stack 3 rides at that point while having a nice pool day/disney springs. Than head to the parks late and hit the rides you already booked. now since you started at 7am you might need to refresh a few times to start getting things after 2pm but than you can book another at say 10am(8am open) and 12pm.

This is something I will be trying to do on our arrival day, gives me something to do while on the plane i guess, and since its only 2 of us if it fails and we are stuck with only 2 rides its only a 32$ loss.

I think that is a great plan and I'll bet it works well for you! We actually liked G+ when were there over Christmas.

Why include MMRR which, as you note, is ILL? MMRR is not G+ and shouldn't be mixed in the discussion.

Essentially you are complaining that you can 'only' get 3 of the 4 'big' rides at HS via Genie+, which seems reasonable if compared to the 3 FP+ previously offered.
Ummm...3 is what you could preschedule...you had those and then could continue to get many more throughout the day.

Me too! Thought about going to Epcot after we arrive. We probably won’t get to the park until 3:30.

And with G+ you can get more than three a day too. I got 5 pretty easily without stress the first week of February. I got 7 one day by playing the system, and I didn't even rope drop those days. Others report more. I'm not super thrilled with G+ either, but I don't think it is fair to compare G+ on a busy day to FP+ on a lighter day where you could 'get many more throughtout the day.' Furthermore, the OP is stating 3 of 4 specific rides. There are other rides that would still be available on G+ at 1PM.

Bottom line is pre-scheduling is not coming back. FP+ absolutely wrecked first time vacations for people who didn't know about pre-booking. WDW simply can't go back to that.

I'll also say that the problem of booking more isn't so much with G+ as the short park hours. I'll hazard a guess that FP+ also worked better because there were longer park hours in the FP+ era and therefore more FP supply. G+ with longer park hours would also be better than the current status. MK 10PM closing versus 8PM closing represents an 18% increase in LL supply.

And there is the problem--some of us do not want to be out riding at night--we are there for the morning and return to the parks for the atmosphere and dining at night. FP+ allowed those of us who had that preference and those who had an evening or afternoon preference, to choose the times that fit our touring styles. G+ does not in any way allow for different styles.

We are visiting next week for two days. I am tempted to schedule evening rides while we are driving from Naples to Disney at our PH park since we are only there two nights, but I really do not want to encourage the whole program. :headache:

it works for us because my husband loves to sit by the pool all day. :thumbsup2 I'm okay with that because we go so often and have AP's. Otherwise I would feel like it was a big waste of money to tour that way.

The person you quoted was frustrated because they could only get 3...you then replied it was comparable to fastpass+ which only allowed you to book 3, implying that they didn't have a justification to be frustrated with only getting 3. That is why I tried explaining the difference in case you weren't aware, otherwise there was no information or really point of your post. Obviously there's a pretty big difference between the 2 programs which is what OP was referring to.

You are absolutely correct in the shorter hours playing a large part. Really really hope they can staff up and expand hours soon.

This is a good strategy - I hope it works well!

I felt so bad for this group standing outside of Test Track at like 7pm asking why all the G+ were gone. Yikes those were gone back at the crack of dawn.
Ha! Test Track closed at 6:30PM while I was there. Disney is a mess in so many ways.

i interpreted the post as saying could get 3 of the 4 top tier rides on G+. Nothing was said that everything else was gone too just those 4, so other G+ options were available. I’m okay with complaining, I just don’t like it when facts get twisted around to make the situation sound worse than it really is. Or when a bad G+ day gets compared to ideal FP+ conditions. FP+ had its bad days too.

We were at HS yesterday and it was a mess. RoR was down for most of the day, wait times were ridiculous, 80-135 minutes. They were open until 9pm.

We got on MMRR and RnRC, had a quick service lunch and that was it. We left HS, got on Skyliner, went to Epcot, waited for Remy, all in less time than it would have taken to get on ToT.

Here are the wait times we had for those two rides.

I don’t know the answer but this isn’t it.

In my opinion, ride reliability is a separate issue from FP+ or G+, and I absolutely agree with you that down rides is a huge problem at WDW now. At MK rope drop we had 7DMT down as well as Pooh. PP went down at 9AM. BTMRR was down at open. HM went down around 10AM. It was a very bad MK morning.
At Epcot rope drop we had Remy down for over an hour.
Later in the week even Country Bear was down. I've never encountered so many down rides at WDW before.
What I hate is that all this mess helps Disney as people pay G+ and ILL to deal with the maintenance nightmare.

FYI- I had the same experience in Nov., so looked at the tip board from home. Shortly after OP posted there were no rides available, only shows. It was not just headliners.

But in my eyes that’s exactly why it isn’t a separate issue. People are paying money to deal with downed rides, whereas before they didn’t.

Paid FastPass+ or Genie+ is a false question, because paid FastPASs+ doesn't exist as a product (and was never widely available)...

Instead the question is Genie+ or nothing. This is an actual choice that you can make during your vacation.

Genie+ is not for most families; it is just too expensive. It might be for smaller families or the affluent.

Currently it is a bit of a gamble with what you will get for your $15 per person each day. Will you get 7 rides or will you get 3? You don't know. What is $15 per person per day to you? I can't say.

I guess the real question is, do you want to go with the choice of nothing? Do you want standby all day? That is a fine choice if you are comfortable with the waits. Nothing wrong with standby.

Looked today at 245 and every Genie+ or ILL for HS was gone except for the shows and Star Tours. Even Olaf greeting was gone. Im not sure the crowd levels today but it can’t be peak Presidents Day holiday yet…

I think they need to shrink the cool down period (1 hr; reduce stacking ability by increasing current availability) and not limit the number of times you could ride lower tier rides OR make those rides pre booked fast passes. You already have Tier1 rides LLiA$, Tier2 genie+, Tier 3 should be 3 pre booked FP. So everyone is happy

edit: Also when there is an issue with a ride, give a bonus pass in addition to the original (we waited 2 hrs for ROTR and It messed up rider switch, lunch, everyone was exhausted). We just left the park.
