The best trip report ever???

I am always amazed at how some of these threads can take on a life of their own. While I love this battle of the sexes theme that appears to be brewing, I think we have a bigger problem. While perusing the UK site I came across this:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=403550

It appears as though more than a few of our friends from across the pond were voting for Kevin without even reading the reports. Mr. Hambone, I must question your ability in running a fair poll. I think it is time for the folks on our side of the Atlantic to join together and bring the title back were it has always belonged.

Just fueling the fire…

Just fueling the fire…

I know that at this point it is probably fruitless for me to do so, but I feel a small need to defend my original poll.

When I started the original poll, I realized that it wouldn’t be fair if I chose which trip reports would be included. So, I started by accepting nominations from the readers of this board. The nomination period lasted for well over a week, and I was swamped with dozens of replies, PMs, and emails. Amazingly, the majority of the nominations were for Kevin, and none were for a female author! So it amazes me that people are raising an eyebrow over which posts were included in the poll! If it wasn’t nominated, it did not make in the poll!

When the time comes for the next poll, I will do the same thing again – open up a post and accept nominations with the same rules in effect, and then open up a post for voting.

Now, having said that, it’s my turn to add more fuel to the fire – where were your loyal fans, Joe?

PS - I never, ever thought that one little post would go so far

Yo LT. you go to school in running an election in Florida or what?

I think we need a recall vote!

Ok, it now looks like we have four contenders vying for the coveted title of Best Trip Report. As such, here is the revised stats -

Tale of the Tape

Age
joedisney - 41
lmhall2000 - 36
MScott1851 - 26
Zurg – 45
Advantage – Zurg, with age comes wisdom

Occupation
joedisney – Engineer
lmhall2000 – Home school Mom
MScott1851 - Nurse
Zurg – Evil Emperor
Advantage – lmhall2000, because if she can keep her kids entertained at home during the day, she can keep us entertained at work during the day!

Location
joedisney – The “Commonwealth” of Massachusetts
lmhall2000 - Tennessee
MScott1851 - Tennessee
Zurg – Section 8
Advantage – lmhall2000 & MScott1851, one word, Elvis

Secret Weapon
joedisney – The Octopus
lmhall2000 - Unknown
MScott1851 – Clothes, lots of clothes
Zurg – Bad Shoes
Advantage – joedisney, the Octopus is considered in some countries to be a WMD

Tag Status
joedisney – “Yes, I said the octopus is primed” & “Out to be #1 in trip reporting”
lmhall2000 – “Has special talents like turning a styrofoam cup inside out” & “Find a smile in your heart- it'll show on your face ;)”
MScott1851 – “Got a link for those Trip Reports? ;)” & “Type A Travel Planner”
Zurg – None, he keeps deleting them
Advantage – Definitely not Zurg – never, EVER, upset the Tag Fairy

Total Number of Posts
joedisney – 51
lmhall2000 - 825
MScott1851 - 109
Zurg – 65,535 (give or take 65,000)
Advantage – lmhall2000, because cheaters never win

The Spouse Factor
joedisney – wife went to WDW pregnant and still managed to have a good time
lmhall2000 - Unknown
MScott1851 – husband wants to spend time with his “friends” during the anniversary trip
Zurg – wife shows no loyalty to her husband, has Alzheimer’s, uses narcotics, and wants to drive the Richard Petty Experience
Advantage – lmhall2000, because it’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for!

Grammar Skills
joedisney - Meticulous, knows how to use a spell checker (a result of being an engineer)
lmhall2000 – Is threatening to use a thesaurus
MScott1851 – She’s a nurse. Enough said.
Zurg - Can't even spell the word "Evil"
Advantage - lmhall2000, because anyone who knows what a thesaurus is should be feared

Voting will take place in January, so mark you calendars.

I am rather confused...On the tale of the tape, under grammatical skills, it says:

MScott1851: Nurse. Enough Said.

I am not sure what you are insinuating. While I might bellow things like, "Get back in your room or I will tie you to the bed, I swear!!" or "Roll over so I can get this poop off your backside!" I also pride myself on my grammar and writing style, both in form and content. On the other hand, if you are saying that since I am an educated woman, my grammar must be top-notch, then I forgive you.

p.s. Some of us don't NEED a thesaurus to find colorful words and phrases, and I never use a spell-checker. When you were born and raised in Alabama, you are never at a loss for words, and I'll admit that I was the County Spelling Bee champ in sixth grade. It wasn't so geeky-sounding then!

Hi... can I enter?

My "message in a bottle" episode can easily stand up to joe disneys poopy diaper saga.... oh and then there is the chicken puke pie.

It is the latter, not the former. I have a few friends who are nurses, and I know they went through a lot of education to get where they are today. They are also some of the most eloquent speakers I know, because they need to get their points accross quickly and efficiently. So please, take no offense to the remark.

I gave the advantage to lmhall2000 for threatening to use a thesaurus because of a serious of threads which appeared last year complaining about the lack of speel checking in the posts. At that time the boards had a spell check button, which was removed in the upgrade. It was annoying quite a few people who were amazed that few people were taking the extra effort to click on the check spelling button. To which one poster replied - "Don't make me open a can of dictionary on your butt." lmhall2000 reminded me of that classic thread - which mysteriously vanished when the boards were upgraded.

Enjoy your trip!

I think MScott and I have an unfair advantage!!! We were both born and (I partially) raised in Alabama and now we both live in the same county in Tennessee!! If she went to the War Eagle university- aka cow college- that I did we're really going to swing the favored vote. :)

And for complete fairness- I must share that I do have an unknown dh- but he is void of narcotics just dripping with cynicism which makes for some interesting comments while at the World.

And for a secret weapon- oh my- I won't reveal that until my fans demand it! Better get working on drumming up a small following or we'll never get votes- but the clear advantage is that if you're from Alabama- you automatically have 75 first cousins, 172 second cousins and over 500 third cousins- luckily my side of the family are mostly internet connected so I better start sending the word.

Alas, the ultimate advantage is that I am only 5 days away from our next visit to Mickey- try and knock me off this hill! :) Until the day I get back and it's 580 days until I see Mickey again.

(Secret fear) Y'all will find every grammatical/spelling error and expose me to Dateline as "who shouldn't homeschool their children!" But boy I tell ya- we do have the most fun- gotta love going to Disney for a week of school! :)

Zurg has a point.....

(If we don't tell anyone (cue-everyone close your eyes) will you wear a dress when you write my trip report? So then I can say "she" wrote it?)

Gotta go catch page 2 of the thriller Zurg has started!

Tara

I enjoyed every grueling word you wrote!
I'm looking forward to your next report...I'm going to go vote now if I can find where to vote!

Y'all HAVE to read her Message in a bottle...this one had us Canucks rising early in the morning...like 12;01am to see if Cassie had posted yet!

I'm already voting for her, and NOT just because I hope she'll take me on her next AKLConcierge....because with her trip reports, she already has!:D
