With David Lindley he was awesome with Jackson!
Call it a Loan-Jackson Browne and David Lindley
In the morning when I closed my eyes
You were sleeping in paradise
And while the room was growing light
I was holding still with all my might
Oh--what if it's true
...What my heart says
Oh--what'll I do
What if this feeling becomes hard to part with
You were meant to play your part
In the design of a desperate heart
And while you gave your love to me
I was betting I was getting it free
Oh-- If I'd only known
...What your heart cost
Oh-- can we call it a loan
And a debt that I owe
On a bet that I lost
In the evening when you see my eyes
Looking back at you, no disguise
I'm not sure who you think you'll see
I'm just hoping you'll still know that it's me
Oh-- what if it's true
...Better ask the man inside
Oh, oh-- there seem to be two
One steals the love, and the other one hides.
Yeah-- can we call it a loan
Till I'm paid in full for the seeds I've sown
Yeah-- can we say that I've grown
In someway that we may have yet to be shown
Oh-- if I'd only known
...What your heart cost
Oh-- can we call it a loan
And a debt that I owe
On a bet that I lost
I love this recording because Rosemary Butler was still with him singing backup vocals. She has amazing harmonies!

Love Needs A Heart-Jackson Browne
Maybe the hardest thing I've ever done
Was to walk away from you
Leaving behind the life that we'd begun
I split myself in two
Proud and alone, cold as a stone
Rolling down that hill into the night
I could see the surprise and the hurt in your eyes
From behind each flashing city light
Love needs a heart and I need to find
If loves needs a heart like mine
Love won't come near me, she don't even hear me
She walks past my vacancy sign
Love needs a heart, trusting and blind
I wish that heart was mine
Proud and alone, cold as a stone
I'm afraid to believe the things I feel
I can cry with the best I can laugh with the rest
But I'm never sure when it's real
And it may be the hardest thing I've ever done
But apart from all that I hope to find
Where's the heart that's been looking for mine?
I hope it finds me in time
Love needs a heart and I need to find
If love needs a heart like mine
Maybe I should just list every song JB ever wrote, except for Doctor My Eyes, Rock Me On the Water and The Pretender -seems like those are the only ones anyone has ever heard of.![]()
Amazing, songwriter/storyteller/performer. Ok, I'm done gushing...LOVE YOU JACKSON!!![]()
I have 121 JB songs on my mp3 player.....I love going to youtube and watching the clips.... it's like going back in time- he and Lindley are like magic together...Call it a loan is one of my FAVORITES..... I bought Solo Acoustic I and II today.... love the banter he has with the audience....
I saw him on the first solo accoustic tour. My DH surprised me and got me front row center seats. He waswonderful
, I had only seen him with his band before. He must have had to hire a local last minute assistant (he has about 10-15 guitars that are all tuned differently), because the guy was a total idiot! Jackson even had to tell him to stop tuning while he was playing because we could hear him! I'm surprised he didn't have a fit. Anyway, it was terrific, even if he didn't sign the huge poster my DH had made up from a photo from a previous concert. DH blew it up and arranged for it to be backstage, but I am thinking that JB was so pissed off by the end of it, that he just left as soon as he could..
David Lindley was.....an interesting guy to see in concert, too..kind of crazy.
I would love to see JB in concert- if he comes anywhere in the NorthEast I'm there! I was listening to SA II and in the banter he says, "My girlfriend flew all the way from California to Maine and I forgot to sing her this song..." or something like that.... I was like DAMN they were in Maine and I missed it! LOL
She makes clothing out of recycled shopping bags!
I've got about a gazillion, love Jackson Brown, one of my first albums and I remember where I was when Shannon Hoon died, so sad, I think of him when I think of the other 27 club members.
