Well, first of all, our extended family is going to be blessed with two new babies this August from two of our cousins. My son was last one born and he's almost 14, so it's been quite a while since we've had babies in the family. :cloud9:

Both baby showers were in June, and for the first one, the favors given out were finely-milled oatmeal soaps in lamb shapes. I placed it in the soap dish of our upstairs bathroom and have been using all the time. It is such nice soap! It has a pear scent and makes fine suds. I love it!

Ironically, the shower where I got this great bar of soap was for a baby boy whose due date is the same as my son's was (8/1). And his name will be the same as my son, although spelled a little differently. My boy is "Louis" after my father, and the baby coming will be "Luis" after his own father.

That is a cute favor. My favorite one was a big cookie that looked like a baby carriage and was all decorated with yummy frosting. It was beautiful and tasted even better! Soap, candy and candles seem to be the popular favors now.

Since you can use them up, they're so much better than knick-knacks.

The oatmeal lamb soap came in a mesh bag. It was tied with a tag and a paper bear that has wildflower seeds in it. The tag explains that you're supposed to soak the bear in water, then plant it.

I have planted my paper bear yet, but I am loving the soap.

dang, i was expecting a totally different slant to this thread. i am somewhat embarrassed.

that's a nice favor. :)

i'm having a shower for my SIL next month and the favor is homemade strawberry or blueberry jam. 4oz jars. we wanted to do something consumable. i hate bringing home silly little trinkets.

I'm glad you liked it. When we had dd's baby shower last year I bought the "stork soaps" in pink from the Basin at Disney. They were a big hit.

the best shower favor I saw was at a friends baby shower. THey gave out cookies shaped like a stork and a tea bag was attached so you could eat the cookie and have the tea right there.
