The podcast team did a segment on where can a family of 4 dine for under 40 (lunch) and under 50 (dinner).

i thought it would be great for everyone to share their experiences of the "best Value" meals at the DL resort ( DL, DCA, DTD).

For us, the best meal value was a combo of Tomorrowland Terrace and Pizza Port.
We sat at the Tomorrowland Terrace. We got both of the kids the "kids power pack" for approx $6, which they both loved. Then for DH and myself, we shared the Asian Salad and 1 slice of veggie pizza from pizza port. Salad $10, pizza $7.50.
The kids power pack came with milk for the kids. DH and i drank water we brought with us.
total for the 4 of us $29.50 plus tax

At DCA the best value was at Taste Pilots grill. kids shared 1 order of ribs, DH and i shared the blue cheese burger, and we all shared an order of fries and an onion ring. (We drank water bottles we brought with us ) i dont know the exact price as taste pilots is now smokejumpers... but i checked the menu and similar items would come out to approx (Fries 3.50, rings 4.00, 2 burgers $11 each) for a total of $29.50

whats your best value meal?

I think Plaza Inn ranks up there, just because it's so easy to split the chicken meal. It's a ton of food, and it's delicious!

Another vote for the Plaza Inn. The chicken dinner is surprisingly reasonable for the amount of great food you get.

Meals at Rancho del Zocalo are generous and easy to share. For us, the best value meal isn't at any particular restaurant. The best value comes by sharing just about all our meals at DLR. We both get enough to eat and stay well within the budget.

I agree with theluckyrabbit, larger meals are a better value. Either you share them (and we find Rancho del Zocalo the best to share), or you wait and have snacks you bring into the park with you early in the day, then have a bigger late lunch/early dinner, and only need that one meal. Then maybe a churro or Dole whip for a late evening snack!

If you don't limit yourselves to just the sit-down table restaurants, you can make meals out of some of the carts, too. DH loves getting a turkey leg and making that his lunch or dinner. Those are HUGE! He can't eat it in one sitting so it usually goes back to the hotel fridge with us and then he'll make a turkey sandwich for the next day. We love the corn dogs (either at the little red cart or over at DCA) and I thought those were reasonably priced (for DLR) but I can't recall exact prices.

I thought the best value was at Napa Rose. My son got a petite fillet minion that was top quality USDA prime beef. It was probably about 8 oz. It came with rice and green beans all for $13. There is no way Disney made money on that. The raw cost of the ingredients was more than $13.

Plus the cost of the adult entrees was just about the same as a fine dining restaurant in Seattle. Disney didn't mark up the prices at all because you are at Disney.

Chicken meal at the Plaza....we split 2 meals between 4 of us as there is always so much food.
