The best love song ever....

No way can I choose just one song, I can't even choose just one singer!

I think Gene Kelly sang Our Love is Here to Stay in An American in Paris. It's very romantic. I like lots of love songs from old musicals.

I also like love songs performed by the Beatles, James Taylor, & John Denver. I'm just a real sucker for a love song that has words that make me melt. Sigh.

Have I told you lately( I love you)--Rod Stewart
Why?..because DW sang it to me at our wedding...

From "Aspects of Love"

Love, love changes everything,
hands and faces, earth and sky
Love, love changes everything,
How you live and how you die
Love, can make the summer fly,
Or a night seem like a lifetime
Yes love, love changes everything,
Now I tremble at your name
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Love, love changes everything,
Says are longer, words mean more
Love, love changes everything,
Pain is deeper, than before
Love, will turn your world around,
And that world will last forever
Yes, love, love changes everything,
Brings you glory, brings you shame
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Off into the world we go,
Planning futures, shaping years
Love bursts in and suddenly,
All our wisdom disappears
Love, makes fools of everyone,
All the rules we make are broken
Yes, love, love changes everything,
live or perish, in its flame
Love will never ever let you be the same
Love will never ever let you be the same
:) :) :)

There are so many great songs, but 3 of my favs are:

Gift of Love by Bette Midler

True Love by Elton John and Kiki Dee

The Love Theme from Zorro, I Want to Spend my Lifetime Loving You, Marc Anthony and Tina Arena

Unchained Melody: Everly (sp?)Brothers

I can't Help falling in Love with You: Elvis

Annie's Song and Annie's Other Song (the real name) by John Denver are two of my favorites:

Annie's Other Song
I’m bringin’ me home to you
It’s all that I have to give
My life, my love, my everything
It’s you I choose to be with

Had a wonderful time in the city
I smile when I recall
The space, the songs, the company
I really had a ball

It’s a funny set of circumstances
Is me out on the road alone
With the moon lookin’ over my shoulder
I’m findin’ my way back home

I’m bringin’ me home to you
It’s all that I have to give
My life, my love, my everything
It’s you I choose to be with

Ridin’ high in the Rocky Mountains
It’s a quiet and peaceful time
I’d swear the stars are smilin’
Like they know what’s on my mind

You see on any such an occasion
My thoughts will turn to you
The time I spend all by myself
I mostly spend with you

La la la.......

I’m bringin’ me home to you
It’s all that I have to give
My life, my love, my everything
It’s you I choose to be with

When I laid down beside you
And all the love that you showed
I want to live my life with you
It’s all the dreams that I know

Bringin’ me home to you
It’s all that I have to give
My life, my love, my everything
It’s you I choose to be with
It’s you I choose to be with
It’s you I want to live with

La la la.......

Words and music by John Denver

Annie's Song
You fill up my senses
Like a night in the forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

Come let me love you
Let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
Let me always be with you
Come let me love you
Come love me again

Let me give my life to you
Come let me love you
Come love me again

You fill up my senses
Like a night in the forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

Words and music by John Denver

Another of my favorites of his is:

Love Again

This song appears on eight albums, and was first released on the One World Album, and has also been released on the Greatest Hits Vol 3, John Denver (Italian) Country Classics, The Country Roads Collection and The Rocky Mountain Collection Albums in a duet with Sylvie Vartan. John sings it again by himslef on the Love Again and A Celebration of Life Albums.

I didn’t think it could happen again
I’m just too old and set in my ways
I was convinced I would always be lonely
All of the rest of my days
Maybe I give up on romance
In my longing to give up the pain
I just didn’t believe I would ever love again

I was like one who had shut myself in
Closed the windows, locked all the doors
Afraid of the dark and the beat of my heart
Yet knowing there had to be more
Though it sounds like a great contradiction
It’s the easiest thing to explain
You see, I was afraid I might never love again

What does it take for a blind man to see
That there’s more there than just meets the eye
What are the ways that the magic comes in
That can turn a song into a sigh
Sometimes I think that I’m dreaming
Or maybe I’m going insane
Or maybe it’s just that I’m falling in love again

Here I am standing beside you
Oh life’s such a wonderful game
Look at me now, I’m falling in love
Look at me now, I’m falling in love
Look at me now, I’m falling in love again

Words and music by John Denver

One more by a very different artist is by Bon Jovi

It´s hard for me to say the things
I want to say sometimes
There´s no one here but you and me
And that broken old street light
Lock the doors
We´ll leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me

I never knew I had a dream
Until that dream was you
When I look into your eyes
The sky´s a different blue
Cross my heart
I wear no disguise
If I tried, you´d make believe
That you believed my lies

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
For parting my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me

You pick me up when I fall down
You ring the bell before they count me out
If I was drowning you would part the sea
And risk your own life to rescue me

Lock the doors
We´ll leave the world outside
All I´ve got to give to you
Are these five words when I

Thank you for loving me
For being my eyes
When I couldn´t see
You parted my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me

When I couldn´t fly
Oh, you gave me wings
You parted my lips
When I couldn´t breathe
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Thank you for loving me
Oh, for loving me

I also like Hero by Enrique Iglesias and You Sang to Me by Marc Anthony

....but Elton John's version of "Can You Feel The Love Tonight?" from "The Lion King" is a winner. It's only on the CD. Wasn't in the movie.

Well......

Maybe on the end credits?

Hmmmm.

My very favorite is "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers (love song from Ghost). :)

I agree with honeywolf7....
Annie's Song by John Denver is one of my all time favorte love songs.

I also like "Look at Us" by Vince Gill.

Look at us
After all these years together
Look at us
After all that we've been through
Look at us
Still leaning on each other

If you want to see
How true love should be
then just look at us

Look at you
Still pretty as a picture
look at me
Still crazy over you
Look at us
Still believin' in forever

Chorus

In a hundred years from now
I know without a doubt
They'll all look back and wonder how
We made it all work out

Chances are
We'll go down in history
When they want to see
How true love should be
They'll just look at us

For Once in my Life by Stevie Wonder... but I have heard many sing it including Frank Sinatra.. ok, I admit it is our song.

For once in my life
I have someone who needs me
Someone I've needed so long
For once unafraid
I can go where life leads me
And somehow I know I'll be strong

For once I can touch
What my heart used to dream of
Long before I knew
Someone warm like you
Could make my dreams come true

For once in my life
I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before, oh
For once I've got someone
I know won't desert me
'Cause I'm not alone anymore

For once I can say
This is mine, you can't take it
As long as I've got love I know I can make it
For once in my life
I've got someone who needs me

So many to choose from.

LOLA??? lol!

loves the gershwins, love songs by Harry Connick jr.

Love Frank Sinatra...you guys have given me a great idea.

My in-laws 50th anniversary will be celebrated in July.

Maybe I should make a compilation of all those songs!
Except Lola, of course. I don't think they would get that one!

Lisajl

I Will Always Love you by Dolly Parton - from the Best Little *****house in Texas

Shania's "you're still the one" is different than the Orleans tune, OK ..... much more of a ballad :D

One of my favorites is "Nobody loves me like you do" ......

There are so many great ones on this thread, but here's one of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned:

Some day, when I'm awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you...
And the way you look tonight.

Yes you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you,
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart...
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose,
It touches my foolish heart.

Lovely ... Never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm.
Won't you please arrange it ?
'Cause I love you ... Just the way you look tonight.

Mm, Mm, Mm, Mm,
Just the way you look to-night.
