The Bell's Abuse of the DxDP with Pictures

Our next two meals were character buffets;

We had early dinner at the Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace is hosted by Pooh and Crew. Excellent character interaction. The restaurant is set up to make it easy for the characters to make a circle pattern and not miss any tables. The food area is in the center and has all the standard staples of the Disney buffet menus. We dined on a really good roasted chicken, corn, beans, biscuits (excellent by the way) and I may have dabbled in a few cookies for desert.

The restaurant is really a beautiful place and is well situated for a meal right before or after a parade. We were right after the 3:00 parade.

Our dinner at Chef Mickey's was for 8:50 PM. Pretty late for my princess but she did sleep extra late that morning. We watched fireworks from the deck of the Contemporary Resort. I highly recommend doing this. The deck for viewing. I sat on the benches enjoying the fireworks and the piped in music while my daughter oooohed and awed every time the monorails went by. Not to mention the awesome view of the fireworks, Space Mountain and the other rides.

After the fireworks, we went inside. They take a photo opportunity at Chef Mickey's, to offer you a chance to purchase it at the table later. Chef Mickey's was under construction while we were there. I highly suggest waiting until the construction is done before visiting. We were seated right against the wall separating the area being worked on from the restaurant while they weren't working at that moment I found that tall wall really cut down on the light in that area and seem to crowd the tables.

The buffet had pretty much the same selections that we were coming to expect from Disney buffets but had a really neat ice cream bar. The monorails quiet passage through above your head is really a treat. While I think this restaurant is a must do, I think that it is a wait until the construction cones and walls come down.

Character interaction is excellent. Goofy, Minnie, Mickey and Pluto were all there and they each came around to pose for pictures.

As promised prior to leaving it is now time to review some of the meals that we feasted upon while heavily abusing the Deluxe Dining Plan at Walt Disney World. Every meal credit and every snack credit were used... nothing wasted. More to come lots of meal credits...

1900 Park Fare

This meal is served as a buffet. The fare consisted on several entrees from which I chose the roast beef. The roast beef is sliced by a server and I was pleasantly surprised to see him without prompting slice of a healthy sized chunk. I also couldn’t pass up the chicken. For sides I selected mashed potatoes, a Japanese style rice and fresh bread.

The meal was excellent. The roast beef was perfectly cooked. I had to sample a second piece just to make certain that my original piece was not enchanted in some way. The chicken? Perfectly, seasoned and so tender that it almost fell off the bone when I showed it the fork. The potatoes were very good, complete with lumps to prove they were indeed real potatoes. The rice left a little to be desired but all in all, I think the meal was outstanding.

My daughter opted for the chicken, mashed potatoes, two kinds of rice, grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers and corn. What a combination, but it is a buffet. She devoured the chicken with the comment that I needed to get the recipe for the sauce because it was great. She also didn’t think too highly of the Japanese rice but the steamed rice rated a “good” when she was prompted.

Deserts… after all of that we still had room for a solid sampling from the desert plate. I ate a brownie that could be described as heaven made of chocolate, while my DD6 ate cookies and toppings for the ice cream but not the ice cream. There seemed to be an issue with one cream maker and there was a line at the other.

Now that I’ve described the meal as a pretty good by our scale. The character interaction? If you were seated in the center row where the large parties were then you saw lots of character interaction. It seemed every character was drawn to the middle row. The character helper finally directed the whole crew by our aisle of tables and they rushed through it. We got a few photos. Lady Tremaine was the hit of the show. She really played her part well. One of the ladies at a neighboring table told her to smile as she scowled and she replied, “I am smiling, now get this over with, I’ve got to ….”

It wasn't actually her birthday but close. When we were checking into ASMo she was talking with a CM and she told her that she got something for her birthday and the CM presented her with a pin making it her "honorary birthday" Her actual birthday was a few weeks earlier. She only wore the pin for a little while because the extra attention from the cast members made her uncomfortable.

The stepsisters were awesome.

Excellent reviews. Your little princess is just adorable. :goodvibes

Is your daughter in a Mulan costume? How cute!

I think we all need that extra sleep sometimes!

TWO buffet dinners! I'd be in heaven, haha. And that extra sleep did your DD good for that late dinner!

Yes, my daughter wore outfits four of the six days. She had two more outfits but due to luggage being with Magic Express she didn't wear an outfit the first and last day. She was Belle, Mulan, Belle (again) and Sleeping Beauty. She never wore Cinderella or Snow White. She is a bit spoiled... but she's my only one.
