The Batman (spoilers)

Curious as to others’ thoughts if you have seen it. Saw it last night. It’s definitely a marathon


I know from trailers the general consensus was this was going to be like Nolan’s Batman. Personally, I didn’t think this at all. It felt like a crime/detective/horror movie for two hours and then a more traditional super hero movie near the end. The beginning could have been taken right out of a Halloween or Alfred Hitchcock movie. I’ll add that this is NOT a kids movie

I mentioned in another thread that I wish superhero movies went back to more isolated stories as compared to world building. This movie does just that.

My only gripe is we never see Alfred again after the hospital visit (I could be forgetting a scene?)

I do like Pattinson’s portrayal of Batman. I’m hoping we see his take on a more experienced Batman in the next movie.

Best version of the The Batman character ever on screen - the whole family loved it, from tweens to dad. It finally shows an arc of how the Batman could become the hero he is in the comics...

PS - I disagree about kids not being able to see this...if your kids have graduated from the "only animated/family" movies tier and have watched other darker supers (like Shazam, or Wonder Woman 1, or the other Batman Nolan movies), this movie will work. It's got some darkness, but it never shows too much and the gore is kept to the PG-13 min...I'd say 8+ is a good min age, 10+ to be safe, so it's more in line with what PG-13 should be, vs most PG-13 being all ages (so the 5 year old attends, too)...
