We thought we would take another photo session with our new cockatiel babies. We had posted their "we are so ugly we are cute" photos last week for Kringle and Beaker. This week Pee Wee was big enough to come out of the nest.

They are all starting to get their markings and we can tell who is taking after who..

Beaker looks just like Tweezer, the mom

Kringle looks just like Piper, the dad

Pee Wee looks just like... Aretoo? The bird in the next cage? :confused3 Not quite sure what is going on here! Aretoo and Deetoo (say it out loud if you don't get it..lol) are the common grey cockatiels we have in another cage. They were living with Tweezer and Piper prior to the two getting the nesting itch. Hmm.. Tweezer may just be a "desperate bird housewife"?? :scared1:

Anyway, here are the pictures. Sorry for the quality of the group shots. When you get them together they sway back and forth like Stevie Wonder at the piano.

This is Beaker

And here is the trio. Kringle is left, Beaker back in the center and PeeWee is on the right with the big naked butt! :rotfl:

Now I know cats and dogs can have superfecundation (become pregnant from more than one father at a time)but do BIRDS do that too? :scared1: :rotfl:

I don't know if birds can do that or not. I always thought birds were very faithful to one partner. At least I know some types of birds stay together for life. Plus we moved Aretoo and Deetoo out before we even brought the nesting box into the cage and Pee Wee was the last born (a week after Beaker). It might just be that he looks dark because his feathers are just now starting to open. We didn't notice the markings on Beaker and Kringle until the beginning of this week after some of the bigger feathers opened.

Cute story I forgot to tell...

Piper is a talker. His favorite thing to say is Pretty Bird. He also loves for you just to talk to him. He sits right in front of you looking totally engrossed in what you are saying to him with his head bobbing up and down.

DW Lauri was talking to him earlier this week and was telling him how pretty his babies were. She kept telling him "Good job Piper! Piper has pretty babies. What pretty babies Piper has".

She said he got all worked up and excited and then Piper went over to the nesting box and stuck his head all the way in and you can hear a muffled "Pretty Bird Pretty Bird :::wolf whistle::: Pretty Pretty Birdy" Like he was telling the babies how pretty they were. :rotfl:

These pictures make my day! I love birds and it's so cool that you have these precious babies. I have a nasty Quaker but I love him. Please keep the pictures coming!

They are so cute, keep posting pics so we can watch them grow up!
