Welcome to the August 2018 Exercise Thread! This month, we'll decide as a group (through voting) what we'll all do together on a WDW vacation. (No fast passes or ADRs required).

If you’re returning, we’re excited to have you back! If you’re new, welcome to the team! Here’s how it works:

Each person chooses a time goal, and posts minutes toward that goal as they exercise. (You can post daily or just catch up when you can.) You decide what movement counts towards your goal, which can be a nice round total for the month, a specific number that means something to you, or a calculation based on a target number of minutes per day.

Since August has 31 days, here are some common conversions:
15 minutes/day = 465
20 minutes/day = 620
30 minutes/day = 930
45 minutes/day = 1395
1 hour/day = 1860

One of the special motivations of our Disney challenge is color changing! Page one will be updated with individual and team color changes as we make more and more progress. This month, our colors are based on Disney World activities.

Stand-by Blue --10%
Open to Close Orange -- 25%
Parade Purple -- 50%

Dessert Party Pink -- 75%
Resort Hop Red -- 90%
Going Again Green -- 100%

We’re officially starting this challenge on August 1st, but if you don’t find this thread until later in the month, you’re still welcome to join!! Just post your goal and I’ll add you to the list. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions, and to check out old threads to see what’s been going on.

Day 1!

Let's vote on which park we want to visit first:
Magic Kingdom

Hollywood Studios

Animal Kingdom

When we decide which park to visit, then we can decide on rides and other activities! Feel free to make suggestions!

I'm back in! I'm going to go for 1300 minutes. I'm going away for 6 days this month and back to work at the end of the month, so that seems reasonable.

I always vote for MK on my first day at Disney! I have to see the castle on my first day!

New to the WISH board and excited about an exercise challenge! I have been going to the Y 2x per week and I'd like to bump it up to 3x per week...60 m x 3 days x 4 weeks plus 2x for this week...840 minutes. Goal set!

I agree - MK is the place to start.

And - I'm Liza, 52yo, from Brooklyn, NY. I recently "retired" after 22 years of homeschooling - my youngest is 18 and starting college, my almost 20yo is in college and working part-time, my 25yo is working full time and in grad school part time - and engaged!, and my 27yo has her masters and is working full time - and married! I'm not a grandmother yet but I can see it happening in the next few years. I don't "need" to go back to work but I may want to...but first I need to get strong enough to even have the choice!

I have RA and regular arthritis plus a torn meniscus in my right knee so I take it easy but I can do way more than I could when I started consciously moving in the spring. I joined WW in January, I'm down 40.8 pounds, and I am altogether in much better shape, physically and mentally, than I have been the past few years.

I ought to get hazard credit. Running with the novice bike rider caused me to go sprawling in the street and now both knees are sporting huge bandages.

    Big Thunder
    Haunted Mansion
    It’s a small world
    Jungle Cruise
    Peter Pan
    Seven Dwarfs

:welcome: to liquid17 and glad to see others returning!

I'm guessing I got my 20 minutes in yesterday. I forgot to keep track of the time, but I was helping set up for a flea market, so there was much lifting and hauling of boxes.
