My 16 y.o. (will turn 17 in a month) prides himself on being able to do what his friends term "the human flag." It takes a great deal of upper body and arm strength to be able to pull this off. I know I'd kill myself if I tried it!
We always made sure nobody was around that could get accidentally hit by his legs, knocked over, walked into, etc. and my DH always made sure the pole he was using was firmly planted in the ground. My DH was always right there to spot him as well (just out of camera's way) There were many poles he couldn't grab onto either due to the width of the pole, or because my DH didn't think it was safe (as in wobbily.) Unfortunately, many of the poles were just too wide for his hands so we only have what you see below!
So...without further a do, here he is! He can hold himself sideways like that for a good minute!
