The annoying things non-Disney people say...

Telling family my fast pass and adr plans and they go " man your a pro at this you have everything planned out(with the your nuts look )" that's when I say you have to book 180/60 to make sure you get what you want. They go " Wow you really have this planned (with a eye roll) " again lol.

I made the mistake of showing work colleagues my Disneyland California planner, with my ADR listed and I got the same response. They couldn't believe that you had to book restaurants 60 days out, and couldn't just walk up to restaurants on the day!

It is actually a little crazy though to book meals so far out, isn't it?

Alas, this is one of the things we LOVE about Universal!

Also something we miss about WDW. Before the Dining Plan was added (about 2006), it was easy to get same day/ and walk up TS dining at almost every WDW TS. The few exceptions were the MK castle, California Grill, Le Cellier, 'Ohana, and very few others. (Rose and Crown waterside during Illuminations)

In 2009, I made all our spring break ADR's less than 2 hours before we ate, for 9+ people. And my group of WDW vets all thought I was crazy when I said we could no longer get walk-up TS.

Ah, that was a different era for sure!

oh for sure its crazy but if u want something special gotta play the disney game. people just dont understand the way things work there now. You cant day of book CRT and stuff.

Another funny memory was the time I scored a BOG ADR for 12 people, just after it opened.

My non-WDW friends had no idea why I was excited.

I get annoyed when non-Disney people think Disney World is just Magic Kingdom. Oh and my fave is the "Disney Zoo" or when non-Disney people ask your advice about a Disney trip, you give them the rundown, and then they ignore all your advice only to have a crappy trip because they didn't listen to one word....

My favorite was when a neighbor went to Disney World. After returning she began making fun of all the people in line with agendas who knew exactly what they were doing next. She told me, "we did not plan anything, we just went from ride to ride and rode what we wanted and we still did everything at least once. How stupid to try to plan your whole day!" So I asked her a question about a new ride at AK. Oh, they didn't go there. I asked about Epcot. Oh they didn't go there. Where did you go? "We just went to Magic Kingdom." Well, 5 days at Disney World and you only went to 1 park, of course you didn't need a plan! Now she is always asking why we keep going back. She just did not think it was worth a second trip.

Currently I have a friend planning her first trip and only taking her teen daughters because her sons and husband would never enjoy Disney, it is a girly place. Then she told me they are only going for 3 days because that is as long as she can handle an amusement park. Then yesterday she tells me she thinks she and the girls would like Universal more because they really don't like roller coasters.

I hear this all the time "It costs so much money why do you do it. I would just tell those girls no." Sigh thanks to the girls I know a place where this 60 hour a worker actually relaxes.

"Why do you like going there so much?" "Don't you guys get bored there?" Really ? Bored ah no!! I'm an rn and dh a first responder . Stressful but rewarding work. Disney World our happy and destressing place. Our ds in college just texted me about what fast passes I got for our Christmas trip got to love it!!! Love the bubble!!! Some people will never understand!:rotfl2:

We have sadly had many negative comments

Leading with the good old-
again? Why?

Coming in a close second and featuring
very strongly-

Close relatives ‘advising’ us , we could have bought a new house/completely refurbished/extended/new cars etc
Really?!
not quite the same as a happy place to switch off and immerse ourselves in all things Disney.

Other snotty comments include:

I wouldn’t touch Disney with a barge pole
I spend less on whole vacation than you spend on tickets
Nothing is going to change
But what do you eat?!
Vacations should be relaxing not running around all over
Do you wear stupid clothes?

In my family, our first attraction at Epcot is the Riding Globe. The rest of the world knows this as Spaceship Earth, but even at 26, 21, and 19, DD and my nieces still call this the Riding Globe! (which is admittedly better than calling it the "golfball!")

These days, people just assume I mean Disney when I tell them we are going to Florida. That's OK, I'm starting to mess with them. When they say "Disney again?" I am telling them no, we're going to visit friends, see wildlife, eat good food and hang out in bars. It's true... we'll visit Mickey, Minnie, Pooh, Mulan, Nala, Simba, etc., do the Safari, pangani trail, see the tigers, eat at LOTS of good restaurants, go to Nomad Lounge, Jellyrolls, etc. I know it's juvenile, but I love to chuckle to myself when I see the "FINALLY" look cross their faces; joke's on them!

You’re going to Disney again?

Why would you spend so much time going to Disney?

Don’t you want visit other places?

Aren’t your kids getting a bit old for Disney?

I knew a family that went to Disney World with 2 children, aged 8 yrs and 10 yrs. Afterwards they were telling me all about Epcot, Studios and Animal Kingdom but they never mentioned Magic Kingdom.
So I asked "Did you go to Magic Kingdom?"
Their reply: "Oh no, Magic Kingdom is for little kids."
Huh???? I'm 57 years old and Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. Guess I'm a little kid!

I went to Disney 25 years ago with my kids, because, you know, they were kids. I'd never go back.
What do you do there? I mean, there're just some rides. Don't you get bored?

My nonDisney loving husband gets ribbed terribly by his friends. He’s actually a trooper and pays for the trips and adores watching the delight in DGS eyes! He works 80+ a week, never turns his phone off and travel extensively for work. We do other trips each year but his colleagues go nuts every time they hear we’re heaoback down! He tells them that unlike any other trips he never has chance to worry about business and it’s all “planned out” for you! You don’t even have to drive!

My dear departed MIL used to just shake her head! One trip it was just my DD, DGS and me going and we invited her. She accepted because I think she had nothing better to do. She’d have stayed another week. She kept saying, “this is nothing like I thought it was! I never even wanted to go!” I’d have taken her back but she had complications after her first surgery at 82 and sadly didn’t make it.

People who don’t get it, sadly, just don’t get it!

“You went on a vacation without kids TO DISNEY??”
“But your kids won’t even remember!”
“I won’t go until my kid is older, they’re too short to do anything.”
”We we’re thinking about going but *insert 9 year old sons name* doesn’t want to go somewhere babyish”
“You’re going again?? I bet you’d like a resort somewhere!” (Cool, send me for free so we can continue spending our vacation dollars how we like)

And then of course all the innocent mistakes like not understanding Universal is separate or calling it Disneyland, but I can excuse those, not everyone is obsessed like we are!

“Oh, we’d love Disney World because my son just loves Harry Potter.”

”Why would you spend that much money just to go to Disney?”

After I say we booked WL: “We loved Fort Wilderness. Are you renting a camper?”

“You’re so lucky your husband let you book a trip that expensive.”

”You could have just gone to Branson.”

I spent a lot of time in Cedar Fair parks this summer (Cedar Point, King's Island, Carowinds, etc). They offer a paid wristband called Fast Lane where you skip the rides. 95% of the time I heard people call it a Fast Pass. Yep, Disney is the leader even when at other parks.
