the anatomy of a tagging gun?

I belong to a local twins club and we are having our semi-annual fall tag sale in a few weeks. I have been going thru clothes and such and pricing them...we have to use a tagging gun, which was gonig fine, until it broke. well, it jammed, and I couldn't get it to unjam, so I did the only logical (to me) thing. I took it apart. yep, took those 5 little screws holding the thing together off and gently pulled the top off. everything went haywire...springs sprung, pins fell out, pieces went everywhere.

I have all the pieces, but can't seem to figure out how they all fit together. does anybody know? barring that, does anybody know where I can find another tagging gun at a reasonable price? I checked staples, but they want $40 for one.

Is it the kind that you use stickers to tag with? Or the kind that retail stores use to hang tags on clothes using those little plastic hanger thingies that the paper tag hags from? The kind with the plastic hanger thingies you can get at Michael's or Jo-Ann for about $15. They are basting guns.

I could probably do it if it were in front of me, I did both kinds at an old retail job, but I doubt I could walk you through it, they can be different.

I bought one a couple years ago to use to tag items for yard sales. It'll come with some of the plastic thingies, but they are REALLY short, so not sure if they will work for you. They worked for us. But the guns are the same and you can put the longer ones that you already have in the gun. I *think* JoAnn was cheaper, maybe by $5? But if you have a Michael's coupon, it would probably be cheaper there.
