~ The Amazing Race ~ Season 16 ~

Makes for some good TV. Phil's got bills to pay too! :lmao:

I was thinking the same thing. I mean the leg for a million dollars was really rather uneventful. I mean the only things to talk about are how easy the final leg was or how the brothers cut in line, but we all know that didn't change anything in any way. The producers had to spice it up somehow and leave people talking about it and wanting to watch next season. Makes me wonder if Phil had asked these types of questions before and they just never made it on the air.

But even if they got 12 hours of sleep, they had to get up earlier. I could get 12 hours of sleep if I went to bed at 3 pm and got up at 3 am, but it would not be the same sleep for me, if I got to sleep in longer in the night. Plus they had to hang at the airport longer, which means they will be awake longer the next day when they had to do the climb. I just don't like how they do it. I also don't think they ended up with an advantage (either of the first two teams) when they all end up on the same plane. I also think they should not be allowed to go up to first class, since that is really dependant on the airline staff..and that is seldom allowed 'in real life'.

If team a arrives at 9 pm, they leave at 9 am. They get to eat, rest and relax for those 12 hours. Arguably, they could go right to sleep. Team B arrives at 1 am and leaves at 1 pm. They go right to bed as well. Both teams end up with the same amount of rest. Both teams also get more rest on the flight (13 to 14 hours). I really don't think this was an advantage to the brothers. The major time savers for them was the move to first class and having everything written down for the last (way to easy) challenge.

Just watched the Elimination Station from SF and the line of the video goes to Jeff. When discussing Joe, Carol and Brandy he said it was time they "take the plane to Bittersville."

Joe was still upset when talking to the Cops.

I do love Jeff's acerbic sense of humor. :lmao:

I do believe you are correct. I don't remember exactly how they did it on the Family edition, but I do believe that every other year it was just one team member do it.

I like how they did it the season Marge and Luke were on. Had to sort thru a HUGE pile looking for a surf board with a decal that matched one of the things they did on the race and put it in order of legs.

And when I say make it harder, I mean make it harder. If each team had kept all of the route papers they got, they should be able to know these.
As an example of Total recall of the legs:
Leg one - Pit Stop City - Vaplaraizo, Winners - Jeff & Jordan, Out - Dana & Adrian.
Leg two - Detour - Condor Consternation, Pit Stop Site - Onces Bellavista Farms, Out - Jody & Shannon.
Leg three - Destination Country - Argentina, Detour - Horse Sense, Winners - Jet & Cord.

That would make have them to remember more and make sure they hung onto those directions.

:thumbsup2

An article in the Dallas Morning News attributes the Dan and Jordan's win to Jordan's amazing memory and Dan's sports knowledge. Those aren't the exact words of course but that is a bunch of bull. We all know it was the move to 1st class that started the theme of the night. Even I would have solved the riddle about Candlestick Park. :rotfl:

:thumbsup2:rotfl: the cowboys figured it out too right away and did not made a big deal about it, about the park. The whole thing was bull!

No kidding, that's the point of the team going on coach, first class or business class would put the other teams in disadvantage

CBS should be ashamed of themselves for showing this banter between Caite and Brandy. Never before have they shown an exchange of words between contestants, or an after show.

The only one who should be ashamed of themselves is Brandy.

But in my opinion, getting up at 3 am versus 5 am, and sitting in an airport waiting for a few hours, is a disadvantage. They may have had the same hours of sleep, but some also had to sit around an airport..so the person who woke up the latest, in my opinion would have been more rested.

When I go to visit my son overseas, I do much better when I take a flight to NYC before going overseas, later in the afternoon, and I'm able to relax, than if I have to be in NYC earlier and sit there waiting for my flight longer.

Just an opinion, and I guess yours is different. I just wish they had an advantage coming in earlier the day before...if they are all going to leave at the same time, then maybe the advatage would have been they could have slept for the extra time and then all gone to the airport together...but those who came in first would be more rested.

You know, he did seem to stir the pot a bit more this season. I remember him asking a few teams about other teams and who they like, etc. I can't recall the exact questions, but I believe he asked Caite something on the beach leg (where they had to swim from the boat with their clue bottle). :confused3

Lesbo? You're kidding, right? Lesbo?!?! What is wrong with you?

Lesbo...short for Lesbian...nothing wrong with me what is wrong with you...if that is rude then so be it they deserved to be called anything that comes at them after there attitudes towards Caite and the stuff they called her...not kidding

I am happy with the results. I just didn't want Caite to win and she didn't. I wanted the cowboys but it just wasn't meant to be. I started out not liking the brothers and they grew on me a bit. I thought the line thing at the airport was petty and childish but the cowboys should have forced the issue. I think the brothers would have backed down, I know I wouldn't fight a cowboy.

In the end they had the smartest move of the season with the move to first class and I like seeing brains win out in the end.

I'm hoping for more Europe and Africa next season. It seems like the last 3 years they have spent a lot of time in Asia.

The cowboys showed the had manners and they didn't wanted to make a scene at the airport, they never misbehave like that throughout the race so I think that's they way they are. Not like other teams on this season and previews seasons were they got into fights at airports because of holding spots or cutting in line.

The cowboy could had pushed Jordan out of the way at the star wars challenge but they just not like that, I bet if it was the cowboys the ones in the way Jordan would have push him. I think they lost a lot of time there because Catie caught up with them.

I knew the final three a long time ago from spoilers on another website. What wasn't shown and doesn't seem fair to me was that Jet & Cord and Caite and whatever he boyfriend's name was got stopped by customs and the brothers did not. They got a 30 minute lead out of the airport. Seems to me that the producers should stop them until everyone is out of customs and then let them go in order - and with the time advantage of getting off of the plane. Getting stopped by customs is just something that cannot be controlled. I know a bad cab driver can kill you but you have the option of jumping out of the cab and finding another one. Getting stuck in customs leaves you with no options.

Ohh I didn't know that! well that sucks, how come they didn't got stopped by customs?

The whole thing with flying first class was not fair for the other 2 teams and the production should had give them a penalty for that.

Interesting. That explains the massive lead. I knew 1st class would give them a leg up, but probably not a 45 minute lead, which is what it seemed to be.

Seriously? Just short for lesbian? And in the event the word is offensive to some it doesn't matter because those two ladies were rude to Caite? I guess if that logic is the standard we use to justify offensive terms to describe people it does not matter if people are insulted. :sad2:

This is what I was trying to explain in my earlier post when I mentioned customs and immigration. Everyone has to go through these. Customs though is quick if you have "nothing to declare" and are at the front of the line. If you aren't at the front, you have to wait in line behind all those people who do have something to declare -- even if you don't. That is why I said getting off before the majority of the passengers was a huge time advantage for them.

Oh, and FTR, when I was flying internationally, as a f/a, I would've gotten in trouble for upgrading the brothers to first (or business) w/o cause. I imagine the policy is the same at United and this f/a was bending the rules for them.
