The Amazing Race 6...Official Thread

Okay---Jonathan has a *ahem* warm side--it was very nice of him to give candy to the children. And his command of the French Langauge is astounding "Beep, Beep", "That's not the word" LOL And they finally acknowledged their on-air troubles. I wonder if they said that to close the book and we won't see as many fights from now on either for real or just b/c of editing.

And how dumb is it to not actually go to a place to verify the hours of operation yourself! Nice teams, but I was so hoping to see a negative impact b/c of this silly nearly 2 hour mistake.

How do you think the older couple (I'm still not good with the names, yet) will do with no money. Not a good location to not have money IMHO.

I thought the same thing about having no money. I'd say it'll be tough. However, they said that the place they are is a popular tourist area, so they can probably hit up some tourists.

I love Kristy & Jon. Even when they screwed up (twice), they never got ugly with one another. I LOVED when Kristy was digging up the salt & Jon said "She is so hot" LOL! They seem like a nice couple.

In the past, lack of money hasn't seemed to have much effect on the teams, but you may be right, this doesn't seem like a good place to be begging.

I was wondering about the team which had the local help them (was it Jonathan and Victoria?). I wonder if the producers will at some point put a stop to that. Otherwise, I can see every team using that strategy - and that will add a whole new dimension to the game.

I was disappointed when the preview came on before the show started for the CBS Early Show. They always say stay tuned tomorrow to meet tonight's eliminated team. Last night, they didn't say that. I knew right away it would not be an elminiation round. Why do they do that?

During the salt challenge last night, did anyone else notice that Gus scooped from the pile off one of the boats? I was so sure that this would come back to haunt them at the elimination point, but it didn't. DH says that we have no way of knowing that he didn't dump it back out afterwards. I'm wondering if they'll get a penalty on the departing end, though.

Also, the wife on the older couple team is just awesome! She did the fishing while her DH hurled, and then she really did great lifting those heavy buckets of salt. I'm rooting for them, because I really like them!! Also, the "long distance daters" are sweethearts :) I'd be glad to see them win too.

Hellboy is a weasel! What a whiny baby. So far, he's pouted and threatened to throw himself in front of a train and off a ferry. I really wish he'd make good on one of his threats! How can that poor girl stand him? Oh, and he lives with his parents and his mother clipped his toenails until he started going out with that girl? Oooh, yeah...that's what I'd look for if I were single...NOT!!!

Teams have been doing that from the beginning of the show, I have never seen it give anyone a huge advantage. They have to usually pay for the help, so the teams need to decide if it is worth the money or not. I don't really think it is a problem.

I thought the part where Jon commented on Kristy about being hot when she was lugging the salt was so funny. I also thought that the reactions of the local men when Lori was doing it were funny too. I think Don and Mary Jean are going to have a tough time next week without any money.

On a side note, I really don't like this years race with how it is structured. I am getting really annoyed at how everytime a team gets a lead, they lose it because the other teams catch up because a location is closed. That didn't happen nearly as much before. I know that the producers want to keep the teams close because it is more exciting, but it is getting annoying. Also, there hasn't been a lot of drama in the airports yet. They have all pretty much been on the same flights. I hope things start to get better in those areas soon.

I too don't like the fact that any lead a team seems to have disappears when they get to a place that is closed till morning or they end up on the same flight.

My favorite line last night was when Rebecca called Adam (Hellboy) her girlfriend since he was so whiny during the time they were filling the bucket with salt.

So, Jonathon want to have a *baby*! He never struck me as the "Fatherly" type. Sure hope he's a lot "calmer" at home than on the race. He was pretty "tame" last night.

Why or why did the old folks & Father/dd choose to fish? You never know with fishing, it can take hours to catch a fish..... Not a smart move....

The wrestlers are starting to grow on me. Dumb & dumber with mustles! At least they're nice to everybody.

Someone really needs to tell "Daddy" to keep his shirt on! This is the 2nd time we've seen him sans shirt. :earboy2:

I laughed so hard when the first teams didn't read the sign and believe the site opened at 10am while the other teams got there around 7. If that flight didn't have enought seats, it could have cost one of these teams the game.

Good race, so far! I want to see the old folks bungie jump or sky dive! :p

They joined the race to see if there was anything to their relationship (thay had broken up)..LOL! I don't think so. I feel so bad for her. Can you imagine being with such a spoiled brat? Mommy's boy and proud of it. GAG

OK, last night was laugh out loud funny! Whenever Don threw up, Mary Jean caught a fish! WTG on feeding the fish Don! LOL

WHY would you choose fishing over anything else? ANY task has to be quicker than catching fish, even if it is only four! It will be interesting to see how far behind Gus/Hera is from the other teams, next week when we see the time they all leave the pit stop.

I wonder if Gus got a penalty for scooping the salt into the water. Poor Hera is yelling he can't do it, and he is saying "what?" as he is scooping it.

Can I just say, Lori is SCARY! LOL. Did you see her carry those buckets of fish? All the other teams had to take one bucket at a time, but her and Bolo EACH had a bucket. LOL And her doing the salt challenge. Just get out of her way! LOL

I was so glad it was a non-elimination round for Don and Mary Jean. I am not ready to see them go yet, I would like to see them win, but that is so far out there, I can't even think it. Unless they get a HUGE lead in the last leg of the race, they would never win a foot race with anyone left. Maybe Gus and Hera. Wouldn't that be a GREAT final four? Gus/Hera and Don/Mary Jean. They're my two favorite teams right now.

What the heck is going on with Jonathan? Either he is not giving the producers anything to edit into him being a psycho, or the producers want to tone him down and make him seem more human. Watching him with the kids last night really has me questioning how much they actually DO Edit for drama. Think about it, if he was as off the wall as we have seen, is Victoria that far GONE that she would actually be talking about having kids with the guy and that he would be a great dad?

OMG, he just disgusts me. When he said "should I jump off the train", I was like "YEAH, DO US ALL THAT FAVOR!" How someone could even have been attracted to someone like that is beyond comprehension. I hope they lose next week, just so we don't have to listen to his constant crying.

I think that Jonathan is a creep, regardless of the editing. There were 2 times in 2 different cabs where he looked like he would have hit Victoria if there wasn't a camera in his face. Who knows why she stays with him. She's got to have something of a brain in her head, though, because their team bio describes them as going on the race to get their relationship back on track after many long discussions about starting a family. Maybe she's smart enough to question having kids with him!

What made the water so RED? Now I think I understand one of the 10 plagues.

I wish they would have explained the red water better...

Editing didn't change the fact that he almost hit her on the taxi, and how many times he has pushed her (and hit her on the head with the trunk but that might have been an accident)

I think she is really gone to think he would be a good dad...just cause he likes and is good with other peoples kids....I don't think he has the patience for it IMHO.

I was so glad that Don and MJ didn't get eliminated last night. I really like them. She is one cool lady!

I felt so sorry for Don and Hera getting seasick. Yuck!

Hellboy is just more than I can take. You have got to be kidding me that his mom cut his toenails!?!?!?! He is such a whiner and I hope they get eliminated soon. I think he bothers me more than Jonathan, LOL!

I have also been sort of surprised that the teams have mostly ended up on the same flights this season. I miss that advantage that seems to have been more popular in previous seasons.

I always feel so bad for the first teams. They get up and get going only to find that the first place they are going doesn't open for hours. It seems so mean when they are all so exhausted. I do wish that error about the opening hours had cost them more though.

It is called the Pink Lake and is that colour because of the mineral content of the water. Apparently it is a huge tourist attraction and it is impossible to sink in it because of the mineral content.

A few observations from last night...

Okay, is it just me or is anyone else sick and tired of the team(s) that want to constantly bicker and feud with the taxi drivers. Maybe I'm just not that type of person; I mean, really, would an extra $5 or $10 kill you?! Did none of these teams watch what happened to Colin last season?! The taxi drivers looked like they could have used the money a lot more than the team!

I was impressed with several people that made the best out of that leg of the competition and felt "enlightened" from their experience.

Hellboy has got to go!! When he was talking about jumping off the ferry and she said okay I had to laugh. I would be ashamed if he were my son!!

Don and MJ---LOVE them!! I wish too that they would make it 'til the end but it doesn't look good. Why do they keep picking the wrong roadblocks to do?! UGH!

They are the best, aren't they? I so hope that they win. While the other teams were all "ewww" when they hit Senegal, Kris and Jon still had smiles on their faces. And she took the salt challenge in stride, and that's more than Hellboy can say. Although by now he's forfeited that name. He's "Wussboy" to me.

BTW - If you watched the Insider videos, they showed the finish of the prior leg. Kris and Jon arrived at the same time as the other team (Aaron/Hayden, I think). Instead of fighting over who'd be first, the two teams played a game of rock, paper, scissors. Kris and Jon lost, so they stepped aside and let the other team finish first and claim the cruise. That's awesome!
