THE AMAZING RACE 15, ~Season Premier~ 09/27/09 pg 64!

Wow, a lot of hate for Margie and Luke tonight! I thought they played an excelleng leg tonight (as did the red-heads and Victor and Tammy). It was unfortunate that the road block was a swimming challenge, and that the sisters are extremely weak swimmers. But, Tammy said she prepared before the race by taking lessons; I wonder why the sisters didn't try to prepare for swimming, which is something that is relatively easy to prepare for? I mean, taking a swimming lesson is easy and would've given them confidence to swim the laps.

I don't hate or love any of the teams. I think that I'd like to see Victor and Tammy, and Margie and Luke in the finals. I don't have a preference out of the other 2 teams.

Question: Once it's down to the final 3 teams, then it's the final episode....is this correct? Thanks :)

Final episode is 2 weeks from tonight. They end in Hawaii.

Anyone think Tammy and Victor should get a penalty for telling the airport attendants to put the other teams in the back? Isn't that interfering with the race?

And what kind of foot massage was that?! It looked like the masseuses were really having fun with everyone being in pain too, LOL

No different than cute girl teams flirt to get ahead, I guess. That has happened every season.

Oh the massage--Looked horrible:scared: There is a foot massage that can put you into labor. I bet it has some of those moves.

Wow! I have missed so much. I haven't been able to watch in so long. The lat episode I saw had the vampire theme with the coffins and stuff. I remember Victor bawling his eyes out that week. I was shocked to turn on the show tonight to see him still there!!!

Can you guys tell me when the guys from School of Rock and his dad got eliminated? I was rooting for them.

Also, why does everyone hate Margie and Luke? Can anyone fill me in? Thanks so much!

That happens at least once a season and sometimes even more.

I think they don't consider it tampering, cuz it's not like they are forcing the airport person to put the other teams in the back, they are just suggesting it and the airport person can just ignore them. :)

My sister just texted me to point out that Jen & Kisha said "those words" which means they might win...you know..."I wanna go hooooome!" Uh oh...

I don't hate Margie and Luke, but there was a couple incidents last week where he pushed a girl on another team supposedly and they kept bumping into each other and saying bad things about one another...

Why do people get on a show that races around the world if they don't want to visit other countries?? Darn those redheads are annoying sometimes!

Also, regarding the airport counter, could anyone one of them say "I don't speak Chinese" in Chinese, or any language other than English for that matter! Why do they think that everyone in every part of the world can speak English? Granted they dont know where they will be going until they get their clues but WOW!!, everyone should know English according to them! It is no wonder that we are still known as "Ugly Americans" when we travel.

That being said, I love this show. It entices my desire to travel more.

I took Keisha and Jen's frustration at the airport counter to be that the attendant just ignored them. She didn't make any sign to acknowledge that they were speaking to her and she didn't understand. A simple phrase in Chinese that she only spoke Chinese would have at least acknowledged them but didn't understand. I thought that is what they meant about the "dumb" look. I'll get frustrated if someone doesn't at least acknowledge that I am present. I don't mind if they can't help me but don't just pretend I am not there. And that is what that woman did.
I didn't realize how much I didn't like Margie and Luke until I was rooting for The redheads to beat them to the mat. And I don't care for them!

Honestly if someone was "speaking loudly" AT me in another language I would probably ignore them too. I thought Keisha and Jen were acting horribly at that point. And were wasting so much energy getting angry over something they couldn't control. A la the angry redhead. I find it amusing that they expect the world to realize they are in a race and need them to hurry up. I wouldn't have missed them if they went home today. But I also think they are probably getting really bad editing.

It wasn't an elbow to the face. :lmao: :lmao: Watch it in slow motion. It's clearly an elbow to the arm, pushing her arm away after she set the whole thing in motion by grabbing around him. You can see her arm being pushed up into the air, and do not see her face being hit. Based on the camera angle, it's possible that her face was hit secondarily and we just didn't see it, but his intent was clearly to push her arm away to keep her from grabbing around to the clue box before he got his clue out.

Additionally, she didn't refer to it as a hit, but as an elbow and a "***** move". I'll take her word for it. ;)

Yea, Luke overreacted, but to say he "hit her", "would do it again" and "went on" about it is an overreaction as well.

Kisha/Jen may not have said "you're a B" again, but on the mat, while explaining to Phil, she said unapologetically, "I called him a B because it was a B move". So he still "heard it" from her three times before repeating it back to her. And at the risk of sounding like a kindergartener ;), she started it! :rotfl::rotfl: I know, we should all be mature enough to take the high road and not respond in kind when someone starts something like that, but it can be hard not to react sometimes and I will always see the person reacting in a better light than the person who started it. :rolleyes1

I agree 100% with your assessment. Both teams were at fault, but I credit Kisha and Jen with starting the whole mess. They were looking for a fight.

There is, after the season where Chip and Kim won because Chip did every.single.roadblock , a new rule appeared that forces the teams to share in the roadblock tasks.

I was wondering why they always seem to put the person with the phobia into the challenge that forces them to deal with the phobia. Of course that doesn't always matter, like with last night's swimming challenge when both people had to participate.

Keisha and Jen are so boring. It's like their personalities were surgically removed. I've never seen such bland, boring faces and expressions.

Yes! At least in last night's episode they finally showed a little bit of personality during the swimming challenge.

I was a little surprised to read (link below) that both Luke and Kisha are gay. The writer states that AR decides what personality trait they will focus on for each racer: hence Luke's storyline is that he is deaf. Apparently Luke also wanted AR to allow him to talk about being deaf and gay, but AR ruled against it, saying they would just focus on his being deaf. Interesting insight into the world of 'reality' television.

That doesn't surprise me at all. The producers of these shows seem to have a formula for the combination of personality traits or types of realtionships that they use over and over. I wish they would mix it up more.

I agree with this to a point, but I also think that people who work at the airline customer service counters might be well-served to learn a phrase or two of English. Working in the travel industry, you should kind of expect to have to learn a few helpful phrases of the other major languages, imo.

Darn I was really wishing for Keisha/Jenn to be gone this week :headache:

I know. I was SO disappointed when they were not eliminated. :sad2:

Anyone think Tammy and Victor should get a penalty for telling the airport attendants to put the other teams in the back? Isn't that interfering with the race?

I don't think of that any differently than flirting to get ahead. It's up to the person on the receiving end to decide what to do. What I find funny is that Tammy & Victor were so confident that their language skills were going to give them such a huge advantage over the other teams, but I really haven't seen that. Yes, it's been a smoother path for them, but they haven't come out ahead because of knowing the language.

I think the woman should have told them to wait their turn in line, in Chinese. I get very annoyed seeing the constant influx of people at customer service counters who feel that their situation is so much more urgent than the person who is being waited on.

Man, the look on the redheads' faces last night at the mat were PRICELESS! :rotfl::lmao:

I'll be happy if any of them win besides them. I think they are all doing really well.

Your right she should have acknowledged them. It did look like she was a seperate agent and I would have asked if she was available as well.

Personally, I would like to see Keisha/Jen or Tammy/Victor win. I didn't like Tammy and Victor for most of the show but they are better than the Redheads or Margie/Luke. The one redhead is very rude and Margie/Luke are becoming less likable every week.

I don't understand the whole "coming in first" mentality and why the red heads were that worked up about it. Yes, it is nice to win the prizes, but the whole point is to not come in LAST (until the last leg).

TTWSNBN were one of the first to grasp this concept and did very well, along with a few other teams like TK and Rachel. It just seems like so much unneccessary stress and drama.

Those would be my sentiments as well.

I am kind of glad K&J got a big fat slice of humble pie last night. I thought they were tooling for a fight last week with Luke and really don't like their stank attitude. I especially hated this week how they said all Chinese "looked alike" - isn't that a common insult directed at blacks by white bigots? Nice, ladies, REALLY Klassy.

Vicotr with the leg cramp cracked me up - when Tammy asked if he could just put it in the car I couldn't help but laugh out loud.

From the previews for next week - the exotic food task looks like something straight out of Andrew Zimmern's show on Travel Channel. The idea of eating a sea star kind of makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

My thoughts on last night's show:

I wasn't surprised it was a "continuation" show, just because you had the airport stuff that leveled the field, then the tasks weren't all that time consuming. Certainly, not much separates the teams at this point.

I'm liking Victor more and more. He started out being such a jerk, but he's always encouraging other teams and smiling at them, trying to help them along (within reason, of course). He and Tammy didn't seem mad about the other teams using their language skills, then they didn't even win that leg (last week). Maybe the race is loosening him up a bit?

I'm not a big fan of Kisha and Jen, and I'm mystified that they didn't learn to swim at some point in their adult lives. A swimming portion is not that unusual. that said, I have to give major props to Jen for fighting through her fears--that has to be real tough. It's not like she had to golf and had never done it--she was really, really scared! And I really respect Kisha for being so supportive, thinking that they were going to be eliminated, and still telling Jen to finish strong. I have amuch higher opinion of them than I did before.

I still like Margie and Luke. They rocked at the swimming challenge.

The redheads are just annoying. I got so tired of them saying they deserved to win a leg--excuse me? Is this a new "requirement"? And being polite and respectful in other countries is going to get you a lot farther in life.
