The All Things Harry Potter thread!!!!

I am obsessed with anything Harry Potter. I love the books, the movies, the soundtracks, the toys, the clothes...everything! My house looks like a shrine to Harry Potter; posters everywhere, the large stand ups that you see in stores, toys displayed on shelves, blankets, pillows and throws, jewelry, sculptures...it looks like an HP museum. I used to be embarassed about it but now I just accept it. I have a serious Harry Potter addiction. I'm going to go into shock when the last book and the last movie come out. OMG, then what? I don't even want to think about it!

And yes, I'm a full grown adult according to my birth certificate! ;)

Big HP fan here! I loved Prisoner of Azkiban, my favorite so far.
I went to see GOF on IMax. I wouldn't see it any other way!

Can't wait until #7 is released!!

The first book is my favorite. In fact I bought it at WDW. Sat by the pool with a magazine in front of it, so people wouldn't think I was reading a Child's book.
dont be ashamed! thats the major thing i like about HP you can read it at so many diffrent levels. thats why i read them again and again. i pick up little hints every time i read them. :goodvibes

TinkInPink,
I see you just joined the DIS a few months ago. We've had a long-running Harry Potter fan club thread that you'll enjoy. (We had a much longer running one but that's a story for another day :sad2: ) Check it out here:
Welcome To The Leaky Cauldron. The NEW Harry Potter Fan Club Thread
That's the one we HP fans have subscribed to. It would be great to keep all the HP discussion in one place where everyone can see it!
Welcome to the DISboards

Anybody have any idea as to what a wanted poster of sirius black used in the movie may be worth?

and, it is a real thing, letter from wb, etc. with restrictions as to selling it on the net, etc.

Thanks

Dennis,
I have no idea what it may be worth but that's a cool item.
Perhaps you could post over at the Leaky Lounge? I bet there's someone there who'd be able to help you find out. If you're not familiar with it, here's the link:

Huge HP fans here too. We started reading the books before anyone really knew anything about them. I was always on the lookout for books DS might like, he hated to read! I have first edition, first printing of all the books AND all the original movie posters from a movie theater (they are really cool, the back is the reverse of the front so it looks like you are looking at the back of the characters).

My favorite is POA with HBP a very close second. My least favorite is COS. We have all the books on CD so we listen to them when we go on long car trips. I have read the books or listened to the books many times. I have to admit I am not much of a fan of the movies. They are just too far away from the books for my liking.

oh im sorry i didnt realize there was one already  i searched harry potter and didnt see any thing. im sorry

I also like to reread the series and watch all the movies when another book and/or movie comes out.

Me, me, me!!! I love Harry Potter. My favorite book is book Goblet of Fire, but my favorite movie is still the first one.

When I went to the midnight book release/purchase party at Barnes and Noble for book 6, there were far more adults there than kids! I thouht that was really cool.

Any by the way, they had a magic dice you could roll to assign you to one of the four houses at Hogwarts, and I'm in SLYTHERIN!! :guilty:

My favorite would be a toss up between 6 & 3. Prisoner of Azkaban will always enjoy a special place in my heart. Can't wait for book 7. It could go sooo many different ways.

I really hope she makes it the longest yet as there is so much to answer!

Oh yes Big Harry Potter fan here. Have all the books and the dvd's that are currently available. I can't decide which one I like the best I love them all.

I would have to say the Goblet of Fire was my favorite. The 5th book was a little too dark and Harry a little too whiny for me and the 6th book was too slow (not enough action until the very end). Don't get me wrong. I would have to say I have two addictions - Disney & Harry Potter. I loved reading all the books.

Harry Potter changed my youngest daughters life. She has a reading comprehension disorder. She was reading books much below her grade level because she struggled reading things at her age level. My oldest daughter loved Harry Potter when she read it and wanted the Harry Potter trivia game. However, none of us could play it with her. I decided I should really read the book so that she would have someone to play her game with. My youngest was kind of jealous (she was probably 13 at the time) so my mother bought the unabridged tapes. I told DD that she had to "read along" in the book that she couldn't just listen. She loved book 1 so much and mom took too long in getting the second set of tapes to her that she started reading book 2 on her own. In a couple of days, she had read 3/4 of the book and finally got the tapes in the mail from mom. She has now read all of the books beginning to end. Her reading level has increased over the years. Though, she still struggles sometimes from that day on, she reads books at her age level.

Therefore, I have very personal reasons for loving Harry Potter (more than just it is an amazing series & I hope it never ends). There are so many things that she needs to tie up that I can't imagine her doing it in one book. I know that her original plans called for 7 books because that was the idea in her head. I'm hoping that she eventually changes her mind.

ETA: Oh yeah! Forgot to say that I've listened to all the books on tape at least once. I think I listened to books 1-4 each twice. I'm starting through the series on tape again soon from book 1 as I do a lot of travelling and it passes the time. I've also read all the books at least once. Books 1-3 I've read three times each. Book 4 & 5 twice. Like I said, I love Harry Potter!!!

I'm crazy about Harry! (I'm a teacher and dressed up as Harry as my favorite literary character during Catholic Schools week!) My favorite book is The Goblet of Fire, and it is also my favorite movie. I can't wait until the next book.

I was so anti HP until last summer. I thought that adults who read the children's series were nuts! Then I read the 1st book, and the next 5 within 2 weeks! I am a fast reader, and I actually skipped work a few days! Fortunately I was only working part time, and the kids were at grandma's for the summer, so I could devote nearly every waking minute to reading. I cried like a baby more than once during the series, then had serious "withdrawals" when I was done, and had to return to the real world! I want to live at Hogwarts! Anyway, my fave book is The Goblet of Fire, but it is not my fave movie. It would have to be The Chamber of Secrets.
