The All-New "unofficial" AKL/AKV's Jambo & Kidani FAQ thread.....

I just read someone's review of AKL and am confused about the bathroom set-up. Is there a door to the sink area part of the bathroom?

Unfortunately it turnes out that immediately after I posted this I became aware that the pool refurb has been extended until mid-February! :sad2: But there was a report that there is a very efficient shuttle going between Jambo and Kidani at the moment, so getting to the Kidani pool should not be a problem!

The shuttle was running 10 am -5 pm this past week when we were there. The driver/lifeguard said they just keep going back and forth all day until Bell Services needs the van back. ;) We walked back one evening since the shuttle had stopped - it was a nice walk.

This is probably already posted somewhere, but you can take any park bus from Kidani to Jambo. You can take a DTD bus from Jambo to Kidani, but the DTD buses are not as frequent.

I'm sorry if this information has been posted in this thread--I searched for an answer, but didn't find one....

We are staying at AKL in July and were wondering if only DVC guests have access to the pool over at Kidani, or if AKL guests can use it as well. We will follow the rules, but were curious to know beforehand. Thank you!

Yes any AKL guests can use the Kidani pool. It was a blast. they have a wonderful water play area for kids of all ages, and they have a pool party in the afternoon. We spend a whole day here on our last trip.

Just want to second what candeeapril said -- it's for all guests at AKL, so go and enjoy it!!!

Sounds like a lot of fun. I think we'll have to check it out. Thanks for the info :)

Any guests? I was told (by another guest, not an employee so the info may be incorrect) that the Kidani pool was only for DVC members. I think I may need to recheck at the front desk during our next trip. We stayed at Kidani on points but my sister's family stayed at Jambo (cash) so we swam at Jambo. Our trip was pre-construction of the Jambo pool so perhaps that was the reason we were told Kidani was only for DVC. Now I am curious, did we shaft ourselves out of the Kidani pool by not asking a lifeguard or someone working at the front desk? :sad2:

Shame on the guest that told you that. I hope it wasn't a DVC member.

AKL is one huge resort with two sections. All amenities are open to guests of both Kidani and Jambo House according to a handout the early guests of Kidani received.

That's wonderful to hear since I just made reservations for my birthday trip :lovestruc in August!!!. I, too, was under the impression that the new pool was for DVC members only, but I'm sure glad I was wrong!!! :thanks:

People are full of misinformation...:sad2: I asked the IPO office before we got to AKL and then a concierge person while we were there. Both said that it's open to all... This was before the pool remodel -- has nothing to do with it. I'm sorry someone told you the wrong info and you missed a chance to play at the Kidani pool.:sad2:

I am so excited... with the summer discount extended, were able to upgrade to a one bedroom villa (Savannah view for $363 a night!) at Jambo house for our June 10-15 stay. Yahooo!! :cool1: Now off to read this thread. :)

I'm so happy, just got back from 8 days @ WDW (see my siggie, I got engaged:love:) and in just 19 days I'll be @ Kidani:lovestruc I'll be there for 6 days, during which I am walking the Princess Half Marathon:thumbsup2

My fiance and I have dinner @ Jiko our 1st night. He's never been, but it's my fav restaurant in ALL of WDW!

The next day we have the D23 1 yr anniversary party @ MK.

Saturday, we're meeting up @ DTD w/some other friends that are doing the half marathon

Sunday is the marathon itself....After that I plan on major hot tub time @ Kidani and a nap!.That night, we have dinner @ Grand Floridian w/friends

Mon is breakfast @ Boma:yay: Fiance hasnt been there either!

Tuesday we leave:headache: so we'll be @ Epcot as late as we can.

If you're talking about the rooms (not villas) in Jambo, then the answer is no, there isn't a door to the sink area. It is open to the room, the door is to the toilet/shower.

We thought it was handy to have the sink area available while someone was in the bathroom.

HTH!

Athenna - Congrats on your engagement!!

Hi everyone! We just booked AKL CL for September today, and I am SO excited! Now I have to go back and read through all three of these threads and whatever else I can find on AKL and on CL.

 Congratulations!!! I love AKL and I really love AKL CL!!! This thread is really, really helpful. Another one to look at is the general club level/concierge thread here on the Resorts board. There are lots of people on both who have really helped me when planning our first stay at AKL. You made a great choice -- have you contacted the IPO office or decided if you want to do the Sunrise Safari yet?
